Cornell construction worked on our remodel/addition to our house for about 5 months in 2024/2025. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Sean and his crew. Some of the qualities that stood out to me were their professionalism, communication, thoroughness and thoughtfulness. Sean was great at communicating to me what days they would be working and what projects they'd be working on those days. He gave me timelines for everything and always communicated if things were taking longer than expected. Sean's crew was absolutely fantastic at cleaning up at the end of the day. We were living in the house while they were working on it and I have kids so it was so nice to come home to a construction site that was clean and safe for my kids. The work that Cornell did was TOP notch. Everything in our remodel/addition is exactly how we wanted it. Sean contracted out some of the work to great local businesses who were also extremely professional and great at their jobs. Sean was also great at walking us through parts of the project and giving advice to us on parts of the project we hadn't considered. We first met Sean when we needed to replace our front door and "The Door Stop" in Shingle Springs recommended him, (Cornell Construction). We called, set up an appointment and were pleased to meet Sean, who was prompt, polite and explained what he could do for us. The first door we ordered had arrived cracked from sitting too long in the warehouse, so we had to order another door. Sean soon had the 2nd door in and it looks great! Not long after our rental house had a pipe burst and it totally flooded the entire house. We called Sean and he was so very efficient at working with our Insurance company and taking care of everything. It involved extensive work with Sheetrock, flooring tear out, new bath and kitchen cabinets and new carpet. We were so thankful for Sean's attention to detail and his hard work ethics. When he was finished we had a brand new home! The 3rd time we called on Sean was to update our main bathroom. I wanted to keep the bathtub and it was not only the wrong color, but was badly scarred from non slip decals. He suggested Miracle Method to resurface and paint the bathtub. I was skeptical at first but after researching the procedure, we have a brand new tub. The shower is great and matches the sink faucet, with a new square sink and a quartzite counter top, it is all updated and now I love our little bathroom! Thank you, Sean!! I have used Sean on a number of different projects and he has always done a great job. We had our garage side door replaced by Sean, and it has a snug fit even years later. Also he has done some electrical work for us: replacing a noisy 220 volt electrical box outside our bedroom wall, adding lights to our kitchen and re-routing an electrical line under a door threshold. Also used him to bring some electrical wiring up to code in our last house before we sold it. I don't think any project, even a small one is too small. We hired Sean to do quite a few things around our home. He was very prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. He asked intelligent questions and conversed easily. After seeking at least 3 other bids, we decided on Cornell Construction, because of the confidence we had in our meetings and conversations. And the price was a good one too. Sean and his crew were wonderful. Clean, respectful and nice also. They were a dream crew. We had so many different things done and they were proficient at all. Replacing deck support posts to an upper deck, completely replacing a different deck and a bridge with steps that connects them. They did siding replacement and also replaced 3 exterior doors. They hauled away all the debris and left a very clean site when they were through. And our property isn't very accessible to boot. We will definitely have them back for any other projects we need done. I couldn't have been more happy with our experience with Sean and his crew. read more

We had a tree branch hit our house. Legit my worst nightmare. We reached out to a couple of recommended companies who eventually went non responsive. So on Saturday night, I fired up my trusty Yelp app and found Cornell. After sending a message, relatively late in the evening, I was surprised to receive a QUICK response from the owner asking me to call in the morning to schedule an appointment for a quote. My wife handled the call and the appointment. By Sunday night we had the quote (super reasonable). By Monday evening my roof was fixed (including a couple of spots I knew nothing about...they just fixed it and mentioned it casually), our damaged closet was repaired, and the insulation in the attic had been removed and replaced. Literally the only evidence that they had been there was the completed job. No dust, no mess, no construction trash. Even my Dad was impressed ("I went by your house and those guys were hustling, it looks good."). My house is over 30 years old. It's going to need some TLC coming up soon. Cornell is for sure getting my continued business. read more
