This is the place to be for happy hour in Carpinteria. If you want the best tasting margarita in town, Andre Is your go to girl. She's amazing... and I really love the music she chooses to play (80's-90's kid). Happy hour is 2:30-5:30 every day of the week. $4 tacos, heck yes! Gréât wine list, great craft beer options, a full bar too! You can't go wrong coming to Cork Tree.... And their meats and cheeses... chef's kiss delicious (red dragon is my recommendation). First time client and I was concerned about the hygiene of the place. The host touches his face and hair constantly, touches the phone, the menus, etc. and WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS, touches and wraps the silverware in the napkins that clients are going to use. He also brings the glasses of water to the tables, assists with the cleaning of the tables, etc. All while touching his face and hair, and going back to wrapping the silverware in between tasks. So disgusting!! The food was just fine, nothing special. The decoration and ambience is nice but seeing the host and his unsanitary behaviors really made lower the high expectations I had about this place. read more

Very disappointing. Had not patronize Corktree is several years. Returned January 26, 2019. Four in our dinner party. Fortunately made reservation for 5:45. Place was full upon arrival and our table awaited us. Ordered two starters Ceviche and Lobster Bisque. The soup was flavorful but served tepid. After sometime was able to get the servers attention and asked that it be heated. The Ceviche was pedestrian and served with insufficient tortilla chips. Ordered Cioppino, Asada Tacos, Beet Salad, Fish and Chips. Cioppino decent with the exception of the last bite of fish was unfortunately foul tasting. Tacos adequate. Beet Salad a joke with slices of what appear to be canned beets and insufficient vinaigrette. Fish and Chips were a complete INSULT. I really regret not speaking with management to address the issue and I am not one to do so. The fries were cafeteria food service grade. The portions of fish consisted of three fish sticks no bigger than my index finger. School cafeteria grade fried potatoes. Will not return and do not recommend. read more

There was a time when we went to Corktree a lot. We loved their Lobster salad panini sandwich's and their California Cobb salads . Their wonderful skinny frites dipped into delightful sauces were great. Of course their flights of wine were why most people came. Then for us they hit a snag with their personnel, rough crowds at the bar and the quality of the food suffered. Not long ago we stopped in for Happy Hour and are delighted to say they are back on top. Well trained and gracious service people, well prepared quality food. I didn't have my camera, darn it! We stopped in on the spur of the moment and enjoyed delicious, mini shrimp tacos, a small lobster macaroni, and those delightful very French Frites were back too, coated with some wonderful seasonings. read more

The dream team is back! Had dinner here the other night and it was simply epic. Best chicken piccata I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, lightly breaded, unbelievable lemon/butter/caper sauce. This place has been 50/50. Some visits the food, service and wine was great...but there have been just as many where it just wasn't good at all. Our latest visit had a super slow kitchen and the food was wrong and then cold when it finally arrived. If you stick to the simple items, the cheese and/or meat plates are really good, and good value. Burgers are good...fries are often cold. Tacos are bad, the soups are good, but not always what you're expecting from the name/description and often not hot. Ceviche was ok, had to ask for more chips. We've had off wine and a cocktail where the bartender forgot to add a key ingredient...so the issues extend to the drinks as well as the food. Overall the service has usually been friendly but not always attentive or well trained. The location is good. read more

My girlfriend and I were concerned when we first arrived, because the hostess -- who, for review purposes I will call the "Ice Queen"-- took 5 glances at us before coming to acknowledge our presence. We were worried she was our waitress, but thankfully this other women, who I can only describe as a ray of sunshine, came to take care of us for the rest of our experience. We each had a wine flight, which was fantastic, and shared bruschetta and the half-and-half cheese and meat plate. Everything was super flavorful. Corktree was a nice break from the grit and grime of beach camping. We were able to clean ourselves up, grab some wine, and appetizers.Although AC would've been really nice, we were treated to a nice, clean restroom, tasty food, and friendly service.The margherita flatbread was big enough to satiate the two of us and was on the happy hour menu. Score! The tuna tartare could've used more lime (for my taste) and the tomatoes in the caprese were on the warm side. Overall, a nice change of pace from the outdoors. read more

very cute wine bar. we came here on our anniversary and we each indugled in a flight and shared a chicken panini sandwich and half sweet potatoes fries & half truffle fries...which were perfectly crisp and delish. The flight was a cute presentation..3x 3oz wine pours on a wine tasting flight board, and you move the penny to description that most matches your opinion- put a bottle on my tab, not for me, like it, love it. my flight was called hailing a cab and i enjoyed the William Hill and the Niner the most (like it).. The husband had the Que Syrah Syrah. overall casual and classy place to go for a drink or snack. all the servers are super sweet and they don't mind answering any questions. Came with some friends to grab some drinks and lunch and we absolutely fell in love with it. It's such a cute and endearing place. We sat in the little lounge area where the couch was and it was such a nice and relaxing time. The staff was so friendly and always checking on us to make sure we were ok. They have a ton of different wine flights to choose from, although they are a little on the pricey side. You get 3 different wines to taste. I had the Nights in White Satin flight and unfortunately only one of the wines I really enjoyed, I did end up buying a bottle of it and the bottles I must say are cheap. Also, they bring the wines out on this little paddle type thing w/pennies, it's such a cute idea b/c you can keep track of which ones you like. On to the food!!! We shared a cheese and charcuterie plate w/Brie, Manchego, and Humboldt Fog. The Humboldt Fog was by far the best, especially when paired with the fig jam, we couldn't get enough of it. It also came with ham, salami, andoullie sausage, and prosciutto de parma. They were all delicious. For our entrees I ordered the lobster melt. It came on a crisp ciabatta bread and the Dill Havarti cheese really made the dish. It was a mayonnaise lobster salad and you could see the chunks of lobster in it. I really enjoyed this dish. It came w/choice of fries which I went with the truffle parmesan that came with a garlic aoli. They were soo good and you could really taste the truffle, I preferred them without the aoli. My bf had the pulled pork sandwich and this was amazing, I think I liked it better than the lobster melt. The meat was tender and the sauce delicious, the coleslaw added a nice crunch. I don't remember tasting the creole mustard though. I would highly recommend this dish. All and all this is definitely a place I would return to over and over again if I lived near by. There were a lot of food options that I would have loved to try and they have a vast array of wines to try. A nice chill place with friendly staff and nice atmosphere. read more

We visited Corktree Cellars for the first time on Saturday night, and I have been raving about it since we left. First, the service was incredible. We were greeted and helped by Annie. I hope the owners realize and appreciate what an absolute gem they have in her! She was knowledgeable, sweet, sincere, extremely friendly, and really made our night even more enjoyable. The wine flights - a great value - are presented creatively and accompanied by detailed information on what you can expect to taste. The portions were generous. We each had two flights. I had the "Nights in White Satin" (a trio of unique whites and Chardonnay flights. We even ended up bringing two bottles home. And, unlike a lot of wine bars, the prices on the bottles aren't astronomically marked up - we paid under $18 for each yummy bottle! This was a late stop for us, so we didn't have a full meal. We shared the cheese plate (our choice of three for $16) and enjoyed a creamy brie, manchego, and humboldt fog served with fresh grapes, sliced apple, crostini, crackers, and their homemade fig paste. My only complaint is that we REALLY wanted to buy some of the paste, but it's not for sale. We had a salad as well that was fresh with a great dressing. If you do nothing else while you are here, be sure to order to chocolate dipped coconut macaroons. Heaven in your mouth!! If you are looking for a wine bar with a great selection, delicious food, and spectacular service without an ounce of pretentiousness then you must check this place out! The only thing good about this place was MAYBE the French fries. If you want to risk it here just stay away from the fig and tasty (nasty) burger... it was like eating raw goat game that had been marinated by goat turds surrounding it, steaming away in the basking sun. We just had dinner here and while on the whole it was good, there was one major flaw. This is a wine bar and my husband and I both ordered wine flights. While my rosé flight was fine, my husband ordered a red flight and 2 of the 3 wines had gone bad. Really? In a wine bar? Our server replaced the bad wines; what a difference! She said it might be because they were closed yesterday and the wines may have been open from the weekend. But there is no reason that a wine bar doesn't have a system for keeping track of how long wines have been open and/or tasting them to make sure they haven't turned south. When my husband asked to speak to the manager he was told that she was not there. Re: the food I had the fig and bacon burger which was tasty but the bacon was half cooked and I had to send it back to be crisped. My husband had the chicken picatta which was tasty but would have been better if the chicken were much thinner as the dish is typically prepared and if it had more sauce. We have really liked Corktree over the past few years but this was not our best experience and I think they would benefit from more conscientious management. read more

I came in last night for some dinner and had the steak tacos. They were delicious, I expected the tacos to be alright as the restaurant was quite busy. Props to the chefs in the kitchen because I hope they get the recognition they deserve in busy restaurants. My family also had steaks that were made to our liking. The service was great as well but the only critique I have would be that the drinks could have been better. Like I mentioned it was quite busy last night, so it may just have been that. I ordered the shrimp scampi. Worst decision I've made in a long time. This was the size of an adequate meal for someone who has the stomach size of a squirrel. Not only was the sample size small, but they charged me 5 bucks for a "large group tax". We were 6 people and the restaurant was empty!! This was 31$ for a snack if I'm being generous. I came here with a friend last weekend. I ordered the mushroom soup and a spinach salad it was fine. My friend had the soup and a lobster roll. She took one bite after looking at it for a bit. Her take was Yuck tastes like cat food (if you ever ate it). The filling was not chunks of lobster but shredded ??? dyed red. So with one bite out of this 16 dollar sandwich she was not asked if she wanted to take it home. I think it maybe time to take it off the menu. We paid as we are nice like that but I am still pissed. We ended up across the street getting a pizza as of course she was still hungry. I miss Slys. RIP read more
