As someone who never paints and does not have superior artistic abilities I really enjoyed the event Corks and Canvas puts on. I bought the event on Groupon and booking a session and checking in was simple. The event is laid back and they provide you all the supplies including the canvas, paint and an apron. They guide you step by step and encourage you to be an impressionist. I recommend doing this for a date night/girls night out.

My boyfriend and I purchased a Groupon for $26.50 a person that included both the painting experience and a glass of wine. This was a fantastic deal, as I've looked up other Groupons out there now, and they tend to be $30 and do not include a drink. Some of the paintings offered are super ugly, and look like a kindergarten project, but the Groupon allowed us to select any painting we wanted, and there weren't any "Groupon-specific" paintings as previous reviews have stated. The event we chose to attend was on 11/18/14 and located at the J. Bookwalter Tasting Studio in Woodinville. The wine from this winery was really awful, but the experience is mostly about the painting anyway, and the first glass was free anyway, so that was okay. As a self-proclaimed terrible artist who is only good at stick figures, the instructor made it easy for us to paint the picture, and I'm actually pretty proud of the way mine turned out! We also had a blast talking with the people around us and laughing over what terrible artists we all were. :) The only negative aspect of the event was that we apparently chose to attend on a night that the Corks and Canvas team got to invite their family members, who were very loud and disruptive the entire time. I think this contributed to the fact that the end of the event was pretty rushed as we went over the designated time. This caused the instructor to very quickly explain how to draw the light posts in the picture instead of the previously nice, detailed instructions. As a result, the light posts are by far the ugliest part of my picture. I would love to go back if there was another Groupon; however, there's no way I would pay $50 for this experience like the website attempts to charge, given all the other similar events offered around the area for less.

As someone who paints as a hobby, I was delightfully surprised at their event up at Matthews Winery. Now, I'm not saying that I'm an expert or anything when it comes to painting because that is definitely not the case at all. But because I have my own set of tools and paint at home, I would never dream of paying $40+ for something I could do in the comforts of my home. Going off on that, I am glad I got to try out their event this week! Not only was it free (friend's brother bought the tickets through a Groupon deal) but it was also very relaxing and fun. The instructor, Tal, was extremely nice, patient, and super witty. He handled the early drunkards very well. As for the wine, I didn't drink too much -- turns out I don't like wine, heh. The group I sat with that night most likely played a huge role in my experience as well -- we all got to know each other, talked about life, and laughed at each other's "masterpieces" (: My only issues are the price and limited session schedules. My friend and I waited about 3 months before we found a painting we liked. The lighting was also pretty dim, but that's more due to the venue than the event itself.

This is an awesome event company, where the main goal is to "Uncork your creativity!" At Corks and Canvas Events, you will enjoy easy step-by-step painting instructions, fun music, and a little Washington wine for inspiration. Everyone leaves with a masterpiece, and it's especially perfect for girl's night out, bridal showers, birthday parties, team building, book clubs, and yes, even men and the artistically challenged! When you're at an event (which are held in various venues in Seattle, Kirkland, and Woodinville,) the great and enthusiastic hosts supply the materials and instruction while you supply your sense of adventure, creativity and your love of wine - and it's all for only $45. I highly recommend that you grab your friends and sign up today! You can do it online at www.corksandcanvasevents.com

These guys are so awesome!!! These paint nights make the most fun girls nights ever! Nothing better than sipping on wine and painting something fun. I love corks and canvas events, the instructors are wonderful, patient, helpful and funny!! I've done three of these now and will continue to come back!!!

This is a great brunch spot with the girlies, a super fun work event, the perfect birthday activity for any age - and you get to take home something memorable. Something you created alongside people you shared this memory with! Did I mention that there's FOOD? I just got a coffee this day, but my sisters had some tea and a pastrami sandwich. I stole a bite of the sandwich, it was indeed delicious. Next time, I'm going for a brunch outing and I WILL be indulging in some mimosas. The most beautiful pain and sip place I can think of. So you come in, order food and drinks if you'd like and then find a place to sit. Go pick out the pottery piece you would like - I will warn you, this is the hardest part of the process. After that, there's a station with all the supplies you may need (paint and paint palettes, paint swatches after firing, brushes, sponges, stencils, paper towels, food paper to sit things on, water bowls, I'm sure there's more I'm missing). Return to your table, paint, order more food, play with the super fun games they have?? (We played with a miniature pool table. Sure, it was missing some balls, but how often do I get to play with a mini pool table?), and when you're ALL done, take your piece to the counter. They'll have you take a picture of your item before paying for it. You will use this picture to pick up the item(s)! You pay for it and it's ready to pickup in 8 days! Plan ahead :) I do wish that there was a little more guidance when you arrive, but with that being said, everything *is* on their website. Some information is a little confusing or not current, however. I also wish that this place was a bit better staffed, but I know that's an issue many face and this business appears to be fixing! When it was a little rushed, I could sense the frustration of the person behind the food counter. Completely understandable, but it leaves room for improvement! Overall, I can't wait to come back to this place. I painted the plate, and I kinda want to try this again and see if I can improve! Can't wait to bring my mom here, maybe for Mother's Day?! You know what, let's all bring our moms here and create something special - memories and pottery!

I like that they serve more food than other places I've been, so you can eat dinner while you paint. We ordered the charcuterie board for 6, 2 pizzas, and a few bottles of wine. The charcuterie board was yummy with classic foods and we really enjoyed both the spring fever and spinach and Gorgonzola pizza! The wine list was pretty small with about 4 white options and 4 reds ( I think ?) but we were all satisfied with the ones we got. I like that they had instructions on every table of how to prep and paint everything from beginning to end so we could be very independent through the process! From what I saw, most pieces were between 25-60. They had a decent amount of options to pick from, including a plates, bowls, mugs, and trays, as well as animals and trinket holders. I would've loved a few more paint colors but what they had got the job done! There was a little chaos with the payment because of our reservation, but everything got sorted out and we had a great time! I can't wait to see my finished product! *there is not a dedicated parking lot, only street parking

However, it's worth it IMO! Weekends are busy and there's generally a wait. However, I opted to paint outside and got seated right away. They have a great selection of items to paint. I picked two jars. They have a variety of supplies that allowed me to bring my vision to life! The number of colors they have to select from is vast too. They have a wide range of brushes and tools, and I appreciated their two sizes of paint pen detail bottles--perfect for writing! Nicky was so helpful and accommodating. He reviewed how the pair a work and the process thoroughly but succinctly. He brought my chosen pieces out to the table since I had my dog with me. It is dog friendly outside! Not sure about inside. It's nice that everyone was able to do their own booking and we could still get spots sitting next to each other. Some of us were lucky enough to find a 5$ off discount code as well. The class started and ended on time. Everything was set up when we arrived and aprons were provided. It did fill up though so perhaps it is important to register asap. There were two instructors who helped with everything we needed and demonstrated the painting in the front of the room. I liked that the class I took had the pretraced picture on the palette when I arrived. I had previously taken a wine and paint class with another company and it definitely does not look as good due to this. It was also nice that we had a variety of colors to choose from for our background so each picture looked individual. I am surprisingly happy with how mine turned out. A member of our group arrived very late and was still able to catch up and ended up with a great finished product. I think everyone was slightly disappointed that the class did not include any beer from the brewery, but we were able purchase and drink while we painted. One of the instructors ended up doing some waitressing for us as well, which was incredibly nice and allowed us to keep on painting with little distraction. They also did a few raffles for some small prizes which was a nice touch.

I particularly like their gift workshops where your child is engaged in multiple fun, creative art projects and comes home with terrific handmade presents for the holidays that are individually hand wrapped. In all seriousness, I don't know what was more impressive: the great art my kiddo produced, or the fact that she beautifully wrapped her own artwork/gifts. They have some really great ideas for kids classes that are simply not cookie cutter. The classes are effectively done: just in time for presents for the holidays. Not a soap carving, macaroni necklace or potholder in sight, these are actually some pretty unique, one of a kind treasures. I appreciate that they stretch the envelope of things that kids can make beyond the normal and routine --here kids can make a tile mosaic, a beautiful decopage bowl, or sugar skulls for Day of the Dead. Some pretty creative stuff. We've signed up for a lot of art classes, and are not fans of the "draw this" school of art instruction, but prefer a fun, truly creative class.
