Loved the unfinished wood ceiling and brick walls. Yes, you can hear the occupants, walking around, in the room above. This did not interrupt my stay. The front desk staff is very welcoming. Received a text message that my room was ready before check in time. I appreciated that. Amazing building with amazing history. Had a cocktail in their bar. Another beautiful room. We chose this Cork Factory Hotel because it seemed different and nice. Upon arrival the room smelled of mold to which i have allergies but they did not have have other rooms. We put the air on to mask the smell. I turned down the sheets and the bottom bed sheet it looked slept in. We ate at the restaurant the same evening...food was good. In the morning we asked them to clean the room. They said "okay, just don't hang the sign on door knob and they'll clean it". We got back that evening and the room was not made and still smelled of mold. We brought it to the front desk's attention and they didn't seem to care. The woman at the front desk has no business nor people skills. Since the food at the hotel was good the night before, we went back. The arrogant hostess with a superior attitude would not give us the middle table because she claimed there was 5:30 reservation so she sat us behind the hotel entrance door. We were finished our meal around 6:30ish and yet noone had sat at that middle table. We ordered our food, I had the veal scaloppini over angel hair pasta. It tasted rancid but I convinced myself that it was the overwhelming amount of capers that they put on it. I should have returned it, because of my Italian-born heritage, I have never in my life had homemade pasta with capers that tasted like vinegar. Instead I ate it because I was hungry. BIG MISTAKE! That night I the worst stomach ache and a brutal headache the entire night into the morning. Eventually it got so bad that I THREW IT ALL UP! i'm quite certain the headache was due to my mold allergies and the stomach ache from the bad rancid pasta. The arrogance exhibited by restaurant hostess, front desk manager's indifference and the overall lack of attention to guests was akin to the personality of a prison wardons as seen in some movies. Lack of hospitality skills aside, the bad pasta and the dirty smelly, moldy room my complaint should really be brought to the attention of the Pensylvania BOARD OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT. THIS HOTEL SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. It should return to being a cork factory. They don't clean the rooms, the handicap room where we stayed smelled of mold, sheets were dirty that I had to sleep on top of the top sheet. They did not clean our room even when we requested. The place is a dump! They should have comped our entire stay!! I was too ill to go to check out with my husband when we checked out, but when my husband said that I was physically ill from the moldy smell and the rancid angel hair pasta with disgusting capers they did not offer anything comp or discount on anything. Overall we loved our stay at Cork Factory Hotel. The few minor things we did not like - no microwave in the room (which we knew about), the temp on the mini fridge could not be adjusted, and the height of the bed and the tv did not quite match up. So at night it was hard to watch tv. The staff were super friendly. The room was nice and clean. They gave out bottled water for free upon request. Coffee was also offered each morning. The hotel if you have kids is in walking distance of the science factory. Frisco's chicken is right next door to the science factory, and a bar right across the street. It's nice to be close to easy options for eating. Amish country is a 15 to 20 minute drive away. Cork Factory Hotel offers but city and country experience near by. read more

My wife and I booked a "romantic" weekend at the Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster and ran into several issues that were disappointing given the price and how the rooms are advertised. Three days before arrival, I called the hotel with a question about the restaurant and that's when I discovered our confirmed king room with jacuzzi had been changed to a queen double--without any notification. After sending them our confirmation, they did restore the room we originally booked. However, the jacuzzi room did not match the photos used in their listing. The images show a large triangular corner jacuzzi in the bathroom, while our room had a small rectangular one-person jacuzzi placed in the bedroom. It didn't deliver the romantic setup being advertised, and worse, the tub was dirty and had to be rinsed out twice before we could use it. We also experienced a power outage in the living room area of the suite where we were charging our phones. To be fair, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent, and aside from the jacuzzi issue the room appeared clean. The hotel is about a 5-minute drive or a 15-20 minute walk to downtown Lancaster, and the on-site parking is a real advantage compared to some centrally located hotels. There was also a large wedding party onsite when we arrived, which suggests the property may prioritize events. Overall, this stay could have been much better, and the biggest concern is that the room we received did not match the photos being used to market it. I'd appreciate hearing how the hotel ensures accuracy in room assignments and listings going forward. read more

We stayed March 6th to 8th at the Cork Factory while in town for a Volleyball tournament. While the hotel was beautiful and clean, we were unfortunately woken up by loud people having a get together at 2am. We had a split reservation for the 6th and 7th and then the 8th separate. When inquiring at 8am Sunday about the process to re check in, we were greeted by a male employee that asked us if our evening was loud. When I let him know in fact it was and that we were woken up at 2am, he bragged and let us know it was his birthday party in the room across the hall from us and that the hotel had comped him the room. Don't Stay Here if You Have a Handicapped Placard Unsafe for Seniors Beds consist of firm mattress placed on oversized, tall platforms with no toe kicks. The platforms are several inches smaller than the mattress and have solid side walls down to the floor that had no space underneath for your foot; I kept kicking the wall and tripping when attempting to get into the bed. The platform was so high that my short wife had to jump up onto the mattress. Good for the cleaning staff's backs when making up the beds, but difficult to get in/out of. The bathrooms are equipped with tall, wide soaking tubs with glass walls and a narrow swinging door on L-Shaped Sill that make sitting on the edge of of tub, to swing your legs over the tub wall to enter the tub/shower impossible. The combined tub wall sill is so high that stepping over it is difficult and with no grab bars, the wide tub/shower dangerously conducive for falls. The plastic credit card key locks often failed and we to reprogram them several times, which as the front desk was frequently unstaffed and the telephone never answered live (they call back), quite a pain. The front door is locked at night, so heaven help you if that's when your key entry card fails. The staff is quite aware of this problem as they warned us to keep card away from cell phones. While quaint, the converted factory with wooden structure, consequently has lots of heavy steel fire doors, narrow tread stairwells with inadequate handrails difficult to grip, that make the entire hotel unsuitable for the patron who has walking difficulties. read more

One of the best places we've ever stayed at and will be back. Saw many bad reviews about paper thin walls and noise. We were on the 3rd floor and stayed 3 nights and could hear a pin drop. Immaculate rooms, lobby and areas. The exposed ceiling beams and bricks were so cool and reminded us just how old the building was and how much work went into making this a hotel. The bed was super comfortable as well. We had a drink at the restaurant's bar one night and it was beautiful. Also, if you like breweries, Lancaster Brewery is less than 1/4 mile away. The shower had to be repaired too. When I reported it the reg desk lady said "oh someone else reported that".. which was a pretty casual response... we were there on a Mon and Tues which is when the restaurant and bar is closed. Bummer big time! The beds were the BEST and loved the pillows too. We were on the 2nd floor and I may recommend the top floor. It's VERY LOUD when someone is walking above you. I was in Lancaster for a trade show and this hotel is fabulous! The staff are welcoming, kind and will go out of their way to help you. I strolled in at 12:30 am and Juan make me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. Doti (sp?) is an absolute doll and is the perfect ambassador of the hotel. The rooms are beautiful with the brick walls, wood clad ceilings and huge, rough beams. The restaurant, despite being busy, was perfection. The busy bar was no challenge for the bartender. Our server Kimmy (?) was wonderful and attentive and everyone at the table was happy with the portions and quality of their dishes. Who knew that something as simple as Meatloaf could have so much flavor? It was great! I feel really nit-picky when I put my few "cons" out there. It's time to touch up the baseboards. It's a really simple fix. Also we could all appreciate thicker carpet. I could hear the person upstairs walking and he/she kept dropping something heavy on the floor. I believe something other than commercial carpet squares would have muffled the sound. The television was a 32" and while I'm pretty tech savvy I couldn't get it full screen. I sincerely wish that every hotel in the country would have a remote control with a "sleep" option. You are a hotel. That would be a really nice touch. I've stayed thru years now n then since 2005 , the staff at front desk extremely nice and attentive! The restaurant maybe it was not a good night but bartender had absolutely no good vibe but she wasn't necessarily awful. The rooms are very very clean quite big but tv is as big as my iPad , again lovely room my biggest complaint is no breakfast as restaurant closed since covid... ok covid is over! They offer complimentary cofee, they should offer complimentary fruit , muffins, something.. I overheard while I was eating my leftovers from another place in lobby ( lovely lobby) many guests were disappointed there was no offerings for breakfast, it would be nice to offer a little breakfast snack. We could hear every movement of people next door, and when they began hosting friends and playing music it was as though we were in the room. Brutal. Mystifying that any hotel would not prioritize acoustical insulation. I had read reviews and thought, "it can't be that bad." IT IS THAT BAD. After arriving in lancaster and around 5pm, the hotel called saying they were overbooked and I didn't have a room. Staff member let me know that to ensure the booking is secure and I actually have a room to call next time-somehow their website books through an unreliable third party provider. Although the staff member helped call around to try and find another hotel for me, they didn't offer to help cover costs of accommodations at other hotels/at least the difference (the only other rooms in the area were about 200-300$ more expensive) or make it right in any other way.. So if you book here, give them a call to ensure you actually have a room. Hotel staff was kind but overall super disappointed. read more

To be honest I really had hope for this hotel! It look amazing on the website versus in person. I love how to look vintage but when you get to the room. It's a disappointment. I booked the hotel via Priceline.com and it will be the last. Let's talk about the hotel, it's definitely difficult to find it's in between business and building where you have to turn into the back. Next is parking, they say they have plenty of parking that was a lie. Not enough parking spaces. And if you did find parking it says designated parking for certain building or being towed at your own expense. The outside and inside of the hotel was beautiful and had a piney peppermint smell which I love. The process of checking in was easy. When arriving to our room, everything looks ordinary, nothing surprising. The walls are super thin. You can hear everything. Including people walking above you. The pillows were small like travel pillows and the bathroom seem really outdated. I really had high hopes for this hotel but than again. It is what it is. I do not recommend this place. read more

We stumbled upon this gem after looking at places on hotels.com while going through Lancaster to see the Sight and Sound theater production (which was amazing! Separate review!) . It looked interesting as it's a renovated cork factory. Condition (3/5): The air conditioning in the room was really loud. The lobby and restaurant area was really great but it seemed that they didn't pay much attention to the rooms themselves. Service (4/5): Everyone was really nice, from check in to check out. We really liked Donnie from the restaurant, Cork and Cap (see separate review). Value (4/5): The room rate seemed to be reasonable. We came here for a wedding event, we originally planned to stay for 2 nights, 1 night after the rehearsal dinner and another the wedding ceremony. I am glad we switched to only 1 night of stay, because the best way to describe the experience is "Hit or miss". The hotel location is a bit odd, there are couple off the main road turns you need to make before you can actually see the hotel. It can definitely be confusing if you're visiting for the first time. But it is understandable since it used to be a factory. The check-in was easy, the hotel itself looks very rustic and looks beautiful inside the lobby and outside. That's until we got to our room... the main hotel building has 4 floors and we stayed on the 3rd floor, there is definitely "CUT COST" writing all over the design proposal. The ceiling floor is not even insulated, you can hear every step from the floor above you, I am not talking someone is stomping, no they are just walking and all you can hear is squeak squeak, and that went on pretty much all night. Luckily it wasn't a party like it happened on the 2nd floor, because we would not even be able to sleep at all. We had an incident overnight where the toilet clogged and the water was overflowing to the floor a bit. We called the front desk and was told that there are no plumbers working over night, instead we were given some towels to cover the water and a plunger to unclog the toilet ourselves, for a minute I thought we were staying at a Hostel instead of a Hotel. NOTE: The rooms are only clean once every 2 days as stated in the notes you see when you enter the room, you can call for cleaning if needed. But at least they do provide plenty of towels. ALSO NOTE: Depending on which building you stay in, some rooms don't even have mirrors as confirmed by our friends. Now onto the wedding event. During rehearsal dinner, it is pretty much a self serve buffet with a bartender. The food pretty good, only problem was we didn't get to even go back for 2nd or 3rd servings. Because 1 if not almost 2 hours before end of the dinner, they took the food trays away from the food...there is definitely a sense of "Hurry up, give them food and allow them 30 minutes to eat and then take the food away" coming from the management team, as this trend continues into wedding ceremony dinner. When it came time for guest arrival, there was very little to no directions on where to go, what to do. When we finally sat down for the ceremony, as important as it is you would think whoever manages the audio would at least check that the microphone was working, as it was muted during the ceremony. Prior to the reception dinner the small bites of food was plenty as were the drinks, only again whoever held the food trays somehow just rush and could not wait to go back to the kitchen with the tray is still half full of food after making rounds around about half the room (I still would have loved to taste that tiny crab cake, never happened). During reception dinner the food was served promptly with the same salad that was served the night before during rehearsal dinner, while some plates completely missing chopped up carrots. After we're done eating the main course, again the servers were told to removed everything, all of our plates, glasses and napkin. I supposed we were supposed to use our hands for the cake and use table cloth as napkins? But luckily our servers were amazing and was able to provide us with new glasses of water when asked. There were some coffee and sweet treats offered outside the ballroom that no one knew about as it is completely self serve. Overall it seems like a poorly run/managed hotel, the real superstars are the servers and the food runners. Can't say the same about the management. read more

Stayed at this hotel while on business in Lancaster. I'm out here pretty often and have stayed at a few hotels out here. In a big tourist town this would be a solid 3 to 3.5 star hotel, but it is very nice compared to similarly priced hotels in the area so, I gave it 4 stars. The whole hotel had a nice smell. There were a couple paint chips and broken tiles in my room, but it wasn't too bad. The rooms felt clean. Some downsides of this hotel is the on site restaurant is not open Monday or Tuesday, but there are nearby restaurants. Much like all the other reviews I had a horrible nights sleep both nights due to how paper thin the walls are. They should seriously consider fixing this. The whole night it sounded like the room above me was rearranging furniture. In addition, unruly guests were screaming and yelling down the halls the whole night. I called the front desk and asked them to handle this and they did nothing. After traveling across the country for this wedding, I was extremely displeased to not have quiet accommodations. They also had no room service, which for me is a huge negative. Good things: the hotel is nice, the food was good, staff was nice. Overall: I wouldn't be back by choice. read more

Caveat: I went to the Cork Factory Hotel as a wedding guest. Wedding: The wedding venue was so fantastic. The ceremony space was decorated for Christmas and everything looked beautiful. The food was so delicious they had so many great passed appetizers. The bartenders were speedy, sweet, and helpful. We had such a great time at the wedding and it was definitely a cut above. Hotel: The parking can be inconvenient when it is full. I parked a 5-minute walk away only to be told that the reserved parking area wasn't really reserved which was incredibly annoying to find out. The floors in the hotel are as loud as hell! Even if you aren't a light sleeper the people walking around you will very likely interrupt your sleep. It is kind of ridiculous how loud the floors are. The hotel really should think about doing something to address this. The rooms are fine. The TV is a little small in my opinion but the fridge is a nice feature. read more

Stayed again in early December with another Priceline deal. Two nights. My room was fine & I was happy to be in the older section of the building this time with the exposed brick walls. This time I was able to get a reservation in the restaurant on Open Table for early 5pm, as they get booked up on Fri & Sat nights due to social distancing of tables & the bar seating being closed due to COVID regs. I was watching a movie on day 2 (I don't watch TV at home or have cable, so hotel TV is a luxury for me), when all of the sudden the TV went out! Like totally did not work. I crawled under the desk & unplugged stuff & restarted the cable box etc to no avail. What are the chances that this stay and the last stay involved non-functioning TVs?! I called the front desk & she was apologetic and offered me a new room since there were no maintenance people on site. It's a pain to switch rooms once settled in, but I agreed. She brought me the new key up herself & was very apologetic. My new room was actually bigger & still in the old section, this time with the vaulted beam ceiling. Beautiful. And the TV worked great. Now, it IS true what some review ers say, this hotel can be noisy depending on where your room is. I advise ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The wooden floor beams creak and you hear stepping & even talking through vents etc. But I like the ambiance of the place & the authentic 1800's building. But a sleep mask and ear plugs will help you get a better night's sleep especially when rowdy wedding parties are on site. read more

Disappointed. The room shown on the website was not the room given. I had reserved two rooms and another friend requested a room directly from the front desk. All three rooms were put on the second floor, rooms without the exposed brick. When I went to my room the overhead hinge was hanging down. When the receptionist came to check on the hinge she offered to change my room. This room was on the third floor, much nicer. The exposed brick and the decor of wood beams in the hallways is gorgeous. I was curious and went up to the fourth floor the wood beams in the hall are even better. When I checked out on Friday I mentioned to the front desk the difference in rooms compared to pictures on internet...He said because I booked on Expedia that's the room you get... My friend booked her directly at the hotel and was given the same second floor location...hmm. The morning breakfast was good, plenty of fresh cantaloupe, honeydews and pineapples. The location is good if you want to go to The Lancaster Brewing Co. You can walk in under 10minutes. read more

We just love this place, plain and simple. This is our second time staying at this hotel and we weren't disappointed. As soon as you turn off the road, you are greeted by this large industrial building with lots of character. You walk through the front door and are greeted by a warm, welcome feeling. The fire burning in the lobby make its feel cozy and the comfy couches perched perfectly next to it are perfect. We had a room with a king sized bed. Everything was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The industrial/rustic decor in the room was awesome too. The walls are a little thin at the hotel and you can hear your neighbors at times. I spent 7/3-7/8/19 here and I can honestly say I have not one single complaint. I'm pretty fussy and I have no problem saying something when I don't think I'm getting what I paid for. The hotel and restaurant, coffee shop, patio, everything was spotless. Very cool decor. My room was very well equipped, the linens and pillows were so comfy! Staff was respectful and courteous. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast twice and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. I had a late breakfast at The Baker's Table on Saturday, which was delish! We loved our stay at the Cork Factory hotel and would highly recommend for the ambience, comfortable, spacious room, easy walking distance to Lancaster restaurants and sights, friendly and helpful staff and cool vibe. You can feel the history of this former factory through the exposed brick walls and wooden beams (and the wooden stairs - take those!) along with the tasteful and comfy renovations to make it a really pleasant and unique hotel stay. Understand what others said about the noise sometimes traveling but disagree that no breakfast onsite was a minus - there's many great coffee + places a five minute walk away, as is Central Market. On this day, March 25th, I scoped out an establishment of fine food and I came across this dwelling also known as Cork & Cap. When we arrived, the darling lady at the host stand was pleased to greet us. She directed us to our table right away. The waiter was nothing but soft and kind. He was eager to attend to our every need. The coffee was piping hot and the mimosa's were stellar. (The bartender had a heavy hand.. thank you sir.) The water...crisp and refreshing. Just the right amount of cubes. The food...wow...the food. Hmmm... Give me a minute... Ok.. I had to take my satisfaction in. The food was out of this world. I give this 2 stars because it was clean and quiet. We had the "King Suite", which consisted of a small bedroom with a queen bed, and a very uncomfortable mattress. Neither my wife nor I slept well. The staff was unfriendly; they didn't have a "welcome to the Cork Factory Hotel!". I had to ask for a luggage cart, and was not directed to the direction of my room. The room was dimly lit and the paint gave a cold ambience. Honestly, we were very excited to stay here at the historical hotel, but left feeling disappointed. I would not recommend staying here, unless you enjoy cold brick hotels in Lancaster. There are many great food options near by though! read more

It's not often that I actually leave a hotel after checking in without even staying one night. But wow, this place was in rough shape. The first red flag should have been when we were directed to our room and it was actually in a totally different building than the one they told us it was in. The room looked nothing like the photos on their site. Total bait and switch. The furniture was very dated and in terrible condition. There were several very large stains on the carpet, and there was dried coffee drips running down one wall. The final straw was the large amount of hair on the bedspread. We asked to be moved to a different room, but apparently that was the only one available. It's too bad; these boutique hotels can be so fun to stay at. Unique and neat decors, I loved them! Even their room key was beautiful. Big room kept very clean and quiet. Very comfortable stay.

You can tell they're pushing being a wedding venue more than a place to stay overnight in Lancaster. We had to book our room back in June for a November stay, just because they block off so many rooms to accommodate the weddings at the hotel each weekend. We were placed in the main building and I loved all the brick interior in the rooms and high ceilings. Very large rooms and clean. Great location within walking distance to good pubs. However, the rooms do require some basic maintenance ... the ceramic 5 lb. shelf in our shower fell off the shower wall, luckily while we were out shopping (or someone would have been seriously injured). Nice restaurant and bar in main building. Also, loved the on-site bakery, we had the Sunday breakfast buffet there and it was a 5-star experience. Parking is a nightmare!! A lot of available parking right in front of the building had "no hotel parking" signs. Again, because of weddings and the hotel restaurant people were parking at the hotel, but aren't actually staying there. I spent over 10 minutes looking for parking when we arrived on Friday night and even longer on Saturday night... ended up parking two buildings away. Paying hotel guests should have priority parking. The Cork Factory Hotel went above and beyond and truly exceeded our expectations for our February wedding! We had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and guest accommodations here. Keri was our coordinator and she was incredibly helpful and responsive to phone calls and emails throughout the planning process. She took our dreams for our big day and helped turn them into reality in the Ballroom. The entire team was incredibly professional and easy to work with during planning and the event. They helped make our day completely stress free and fun. Being from out-of-town, having one location for guests to arrive, unpack and enjoy was incredibly convenient. The venue itself is incredibly beautiful and offers many locations for photos. They were incredibly accommodating with our ceremony needs and requests. Having the caterer and cake included was also very convenient. We were actually able to eat at our cocktail hour and reception and the food was incredible! The cake was both stunning and delicious! All of our guests raved about their meals. We loved having the accommodations on site. Our guests could truly enjoy themselves and not a moment or dollar was wasted busing guests back and forth. The unique industrial interior made for a stunning backdrop. I'd highly recommend Keri and the Cork Factory Hotel for your wedding day or special occasion! read more
