Was a little apprehensive when booking but this was a great choice. Avery at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. Maintained his professionalism while dealing with a hotel full of children running everywhere that were there for a soccer tournament. He assured us that there are quiet hours and we were happy to get a good night sleep. The hotel and room were very clean and contemporary decor. Loved the large bottles of toiletries in the bathroom. We didn't take advantage of the continental breakfast since there were other options right in the immediate area. We will definitely stay here again.

It's in a good location, you are near the parks and outlet mall is you like that sort of thing. The room and lobby weren't clean and were rather unsanitary. Debris and crumbs. Greasy /dirty fingerprints on the side tables and wall near the light switch. Gross. I am carrying wet wipes these days so I can do my part and keep me and mine healthy. It wasn't cheap staying here but no manager/management watching over means neglecting the little things ... which mean something to me. Do better next time. The best thing about this hotel was the view of the Amish farm with running horses and seeing the pretty fieles and cows. Heavenly view. My room had a tub so I loved that also.

My wife and I decided to stay here at this new IHG owned Avid hotel on Lincoln Hwy for a weekend. Upon arrival we were greeted by Tyler he was friendly and helpful. We were given room 428 on the 4th floor. The lobby is modern looking, it has a dining area and snack/ drink dispensing machines. I noticed, as soon as we walked into our room, how small and claustrophobic it is. CONS: Tiny room for the price. LG TV doesn't have Netflix, Prime, Hulu, AppleTV, etc. TV doesn't have premium cable channels. Can't broadcast the mobile to the TV (on our 2nd day we were told that they've been having issues with the Network for a week, it would have been nice if they told us the 1st day). They're internet is painfully slow, download/upload speed is agonizingly slow. Bathroom showerhead is fixed, i.e.; non-removable. No closet, no drawers. PROS: Indoor heated pool. Very clean areas and room. New modern fixtures. Decent sized bathroom, decent water pressure. Very comfortable bed. Quiet room. Huge 55" TV. Not having a closet/drawers means you will never leave items behind. Plenty of outlets for electronics. Wide expanse window/view. Blackout curtains/shades. Friendly, professional and helpful staff. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the useless TV situation and the price. We will never stay here again, unless the TV issue is resolved and the price is lowered to around $100.00 a night. Thank You to Tyler, Aaliyah, Taron and Richard for making our stay so much better than anticipated.

This hotel is new, only opened some 8 months ago. Then covid struck. They were closed for two months. Back in business again. We had a memorable stay at this charming, clean and well situated hotel. Stayed in a 4th floor room with a view of a bucolic local farm. Tanger Outlets nearby. Free parking and wifi, a pool and a gym, and both are now open. Good staff, fine service. I recommend the aVID.

Hooks and hangers

Loved our stay. You can tell it was built relatively recently. Yes, the room was on the smaller side (I would call it a charmingly efficient use of space) but it felt fresh, well lit, and streamlined. Yes, others here have complained about the absence of a closet, but there are, count 'em, nine hooks on the walls. You won't forget to pack your things a musty closet. The breakfast was lovely - I've listed the offerings in the photos - but what I really appreciated was that nearly everything was individually wrapped. No sandwiches lying in a communal tray waiting to be contaminated by sneezes and inappropriate touching. Interactions with the super nice front desk staff was an absolute pleasure. Shout out to Trei the manager, who managed to make the check in 411 sound welcoming and unscripted and obviously has the gift of hospitality. And Avery, who sympathetically took in my pleading about my teenage son - who must shower before hitting the road after the last bball tourney game - and magically made a late checkout happen despite a full house. Sending you all the love (*tear*)!

It Takes a Village…read more Forty acre village comprised of a farm, historic buildings, artifacts and some amazing craftspeople. We didn't really know what to expect coming here but were completely blown away by what we found. The Good: *Firstly, the craftspeople that were here during our visit were all simply amazing but special big ups to the Tinsmith and Blacksmith as they were both a pure joy to talk to. They both possess so much great knowledge and skill in their crafts. It was truly amazing to talk to people like this. *One of the better gift shops we've encountered, as it has wares produced by the craftspeople, as well as locally-made Amish wares and even packets of heritage seeds. *Great historic antique-filled buildings to wander around at your leisure. *Be sure to watch the short film about the history of this place at the Visitor Center. *We were here for almost four hours and still didn't see everything! The Meh: *Some of the trails are a bit suspect, so keep an eye on any old folks you bring along. The Ugly: *The farm part of this place could use a little love, but I'm just being nitpicky. TLDR: Great place for lovers of history, but definitely make sure you take full advantage of the craftspeople that are there that day. They're def the heart and soul of this museum. Without them, this would be a 3.5* experience.

Why is the Hans Herr House significant and who the hell was Hans Herr?…read more The house itself is significant as it is the last remaining structure that is still standing from the original group of Mennonites who came to the Lancaster County area to escape religious persecution from their native Switzerland. The house is also significant in that it is the oldest structure in Lancaster County and likely the oldest remaining Mennonite meetinghouse in the Western Hemisphere. The original group traveled from Switzerland to Germany to escape religious persecution then after a governmental regime change they were forced from Germany to England where they met with William Penn who allowed them to colonize a portion of what is current day Lancaster County or when they arrived in 1711, the extreme most western frontier of Pennsylvania. One interesting piece of information is that the house did not belong to Hans Herr as it was built by his son Christian which is why his initials are over the doorway along with the inscribing mark of 1719. On the tour you are told why the name remained(s) Hans Herr House versus Christian Herr House but honestly I forget why. Maybe something just deferential from Christian towards his father or because of his father's status with the original group that came to the area or maybe everyone just liked the flow of the name more so it's based on tradition? The tour itself is around 40-45 minutes and it starts in the building which houses the gift shop and you are given a brief overview of the Anabaptist faith, the Mennonites who are direct descendants of the faith and a map which shows the route the initial settlers took from Switzerland to Pennsylvania. After that you are taken over to the house where you see the three rooms which make up the first floor (kitchen, bedroom and all purpose dining room-meeting room-family room) and the second floor which is where the eight children slept and finally the basement which is accessed from a side entrance outside of the house. You learn that the key to the home's design is that they didn't believe in wasting any space so every inch served a purpose such as not having hallways so as soon as you walk in the front door you're right in the kitchen. One thing worth noting, if you are someone who is hardcore hung up on only visiting historical places if they have lots of original items then this place might not be for you. There is not a whole lot original to the house that you can see with the exception of a piece of the ceiling insulation on the first floor (rye straw + manure + ??), the wooden crossbeam over the kitchen fireplace and the steps which go from the second floor to the third floor attic (obviously you can't use them). Past that I think most everything else was changed out in the 19th century when the house was still used as a residence or in the early 70's when the initial renovation occurred to make things into a tourist destination. If you want more original take a look at the bibles on display in the gift shop which are original to Hans and Christian. I wouldn't call the Hans Herr House a must see, but it's interesting enough and the tour is the right length to keep everyone interested along with being located close enough to most of Lancaster County's tourist elements. If you go: The 1719 Hans Herr House is open April 1 through November 30, Monday-Saturday, 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. Forty-five minute Herr House tours are offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. This is not the tour information for their reproduction Native American Longhouse. That tour is offered at 10 a.m., 12 noon and 2 p.m and has an entirely different focus. Prices are currently Adults: $8, Children 7-12: $4 and Children 6 and under: free with a slight discount if you choose to tour both structures. There are also several special events that happen throughout the year and that information is available on their website.

Owners Evita and Solise have created a space that shows appreciation to the culture, while celebrating the stories of people of African diaspora through literature and art. For those who are reading this and are from the DMV area think of Busboy & Poets but with a little twist. So what's the twist you ask? They offer beer and wine through a self-serve tap system. Meaning you receive a wristband that allows you to help yourself to a variety of local beers and wine. Each is charged by the ounce and is charged to your tab at the end of your visit. An added bonus is two of the wines that were available were made in-house; the Concord Jungle and Mizz Education. We enjoyed the Mizz Education which is a sweet and refreshing Moscato so much we ended up taking two bottles home with us. Let me just say this, I've been to my fair share of restaurants for brunch and the food at Concrete Rose hands down is the top 5 best food I've ever had. We tried a variety of options which include the Salmon Avocado Toast, Soul of the Sea and Chicken wings with concord bbq sauce. All were seasoned, cooked and plated to perfection. Whew Lord just thinking about those crab cakes with herbed garlic butter and remoulade sauce has me thinking about taking a road trip to get some more. Ambiance, food and service are all top tier at A Concrete Rose. Do yourself a favor and check them out. There's so much there for you to see and try! I can promise you one thing, you won't be disappointed. Evita and Solise you've outdone yourselves on this one! So proud of what you both have accomplished. Thanks to an early holiday gift, I attended my first performance, the 2025 Christmas Show Deck the Halls. I didn't make any food purchases, but I could smell the inviting aroma of popcorn when we entered the theatre. We enjoyed the lively, excellent singing and performances, dazzling costumes, set designs, and a top-notch band. Deck the Halls is a fantastic way to celebrate Christmas with nostalgic songs and remember Jesus' birth. I must note that 1600 people exiting the theatre parking lot is the only honest, non-five-star worthy concern. This was after we were told to make our way through a very crowded gift shop to the other side of the venue, even though our seats were in the middle. This is one of the least accommodating venues I have been to for people with mobility issues. From the parking spots to removing a medical device, it is wholly unacceptable. The theatre itself is a very nice, modern establishment and the performances I have attended are wonderful productions. The ticket prices are a bit high but better seats always are. If you have no mobility issues you will likely be thrilled with this venue.

They are remodeling and they showed us a guest room that is in the process of being remodeled. So far so good, but we didn't get to actually see the finished product. We were told by Sales that all of the rooms should be updated "hopefully" by March 2018. Most people know that construction projects almost always go longer than expected, unfortunately. We were also told that this hotel will soon be a Wyndam hotel. This might be a good thing. My room was clean, There was a bluish colored stain on the floor (pen ink?) but no biggie. The water pressure in the shower was great! Although, my associates said theirs wasn't so great. The rooms have no microwave and no refrigerator in them. I believe it was an extra $25 for a mini-fridge. There was coffee, however. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked fine. Although it was set to 54 degrees and it didn't feel that cold. Ice bucket was found in the bathroom. Our meeting room was efficient, however, it was way too hot and when we asked maintenance to help with that he seemed to have a major attitude and the room stayed hot anyway. A last minute request for a phone with conference call capabilities was met quickly. On our tour of the property, the meeting rooms we were shown, in general, were dingy and dank. They smelled terrible and had bugs flying all over. They were very outdated and I would honestly be embarrassed to have our conference there. Not to mention that their prices were not that great. We had our last conference at the Kalahari in the Poconos for $10 cheaper per person and that included the water park! And we were told the renovations to the meeting spaces would not be completed by next May (our conference). The indoor pool looked nice and it is open until 11pm. The outdoor pool is huge and looked clean. There are a lot of lounge chairs there and a hut that looks like a bar. We were told they sometimes serve food and beverages there, but when the renovation is complete that will be taken out. The bar inside the hotel looks beautiful and sits right across from the check in desk. However, that is closed on weekdays. That alone might be a deal breaker for a weekday conference! When this place is renovated we would definitely consider coming here. It is in a great location close to just about anything, including two outlet malls and tons of eateries. Uber into Lancaster cost around $15. It has lots of potential.
