Then once you get past the intriguing beauty of the restaurant, there's the food. With a seasonal menu, the food is fresh and absolutely amazing. Did someone say Crispy Lemon and Herb Potatoes with Smoked Salt? Delicious! Though be warned, the meals can get a little pricey but extremely worth it. The breakfast menu prices are on par with other restaurants and very high quality. This is the perfect restaurant to take someone if you wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and other suburbs such as Glenelg. Though make sure you check the opening hours because there are very particular times when they are open for certain meal times, such as they only provide breakfast on Sundays.

We had a table upstairs, and the noise level given the time of the week/evening was acceptable. It isn't quiet, so if you're looking for a cosy affair, perhaps look elsewhere. But it is fun and interesting, with local artists' works hanging on the walls (some for sale too!). The upstairs seating also concerned me as I know (having worked with some) that not all waiters are uber-energetic at the best of times...but our waiter was outstanding. Prompt, friendly service with a good knowledge of the menu and, more importantly the beer/wine list (it was Friday night after all!) I have to preface this next section. I (and another dining companion) had a fantastic meal. However... There was one diner at my table that was disappointed. The fish cakes had little to no 'fish' flavour. All potato, slight lemon taste, no fish (I tasted a bit of fish in there, but my dining companion insisted she could taste 'no fish'). The vegetarian gnocchi dish was also listed as coming with goats curd, which another of my dining companions had ordered, but it came out with zero goats curd. It may not seem like a huge issue, but when that's one of the things that pushes you to choose one menu option over another and it doesn't come out, it is a bit disappointing. As I said though, the steak was sublime. Melty, delicious steak, with a perfectly cooked mushy and delicious béarnaise sauce was divine. That paired with a very reasonably priced Bird-in-Hand shiraz made my night. Literally no room for dessert. Overall we had a really nice night. It's a warm atmosphere and the service was really good...perhaps just order another dish if you're after something fishy!

A lot of our ordering was done based on what the waitress recommended and I was surprised that things which sounded not bad were outstandingly good - probably due to the freshness of produce. My recommendations? - Order wine by the glass, there is plenty of it and you can pair your wines with the share plates. - Get the Kingfish sashimi in coconut milk with coriander and the pepper crusted barramundi wings, soy, chilli, shallot dressing as minimum for starters. - Get Blue Swimmer Crab Parpadelle. It is better than my Italian in-laws make being light, melt in your mouth strands of joy and the crab wasn't overloaded in the dish nor was it sparsely disappointing. You probably won't feel like sharing that dish though! Every dish is made to share, so you don't end up fighting over 3 arancini balls nor wondering where the rest of the meal is. The dishes are fresh, quick and bit sized, this is a wonderful place to spend time in on a winters evening with a cosy, candle lit atmosphere suitable for a group of sharing, caring friends.

We went for a pub classic, the Schnitzel, which at $17.90 was one of the cheapest meals on the menu. How was the schnitzel? well... the beer battered chips were amazing!! The schnitzel was quite bland and my partner who had the parmy said that the cheese had no flavour. However, he REALLY likes cheese. I think it would be a great front bar area for a fun, busy night and the function rooms look amazing - decked out with fairy lights and modern decor. The menu is decent, with a couple of dishes that seem to be returning to popularity. Although it is a bit over priced for a pub, the quality is good, so It isn't too big of a deal. Your pocket really gets hit by the beer and fancy drinks (with and without pretty umbrellas). Don't be surprised if you don't get any change back from a 20 for two pints of imported amber goodness. Then again, the restaurant was packed, so it wasn't really surprising that they were so busy. Despite that, the food came in a timely fashion and I was more than happy with my meal. Though I may not return here often because of the price, I would definitely think about it and recommend it because of the good food and good service.
