It is run from good Italian heritage: Andy Parisi started La Trattoria in King William Road, many years ago and I believe that it is his daughters that now run Parisi's. Anyway, the food is delicious and traditionally Italian and the serves are generous without being too much. The Gnocci is particularly good here. The restaurant itself is beautiful, elegant and glamorous in an understated way. The bar is a central focus with its mood lighting and rich colours. Gold muted tones give a relaxed elegance and a wonderful ambience. Parisi's is often busy but not too noisy. The service is great and waiting staff are attentive. The courtyard is also a lovely area to dine in the summer months with vine leaves trailing above. This is also a good spot for lunch, coffee or just a quick catch up with friends.

Definite standouts is the gnocchi and spinach dish and the flambe dessert pizza. A word of warning though - the serving sizes are massive! I could only get through about 1/3 of a pasta dish. Luckily the have the option of 'doggy-bagging' the remainder of your meal for later in their chinese takaway boxes. A definite must try for any pasta fanatic!

At first inspection, it seems quite snug inside, and we went in at 7pm on a Friday night, so there were a few Friday night knock-off-drinks patrons at the new (quite funky curved) bar. According to another facebook tidbit, there is still the same number of tables as before, it's just that the room has been rejigged a bit. We had a table upstairs, and the noise level given the time of the week/evening was acceptable. It isn't quiet, so if you're looking for a cosy affair, perhaps look elsewhere. But it is fun and interesting, with local artists' works hanging on the walls (some for sale too!). The upstairs seating also concerned me as I know (having worked with some) that not all waiters are uber-energetic at the best of times...but our waiter was outstanding. Prompt, friendly service with a good knowledge of the menu and, more importantly the beer/wine list (it was Friday night after all!) I have to preface this next section. I (and another dining companion) had a fantastic meal. However... There was one diner at my table that was disappointed. The fish cakes had little to no 'fish' flavour. All potato, slight lemon taste, no fish (I tasted a bit of fish in there, but my dining companion insisted she could taste 'no fish'). The vegetarian gnocchi dish was also listed as coming with goats curd, which another of my dining companions had ordered, but it came out with zero goats curd. It may not seem like a huge issue, but when that's one of the things that pushes you to choose one menu option over another and it doesn't come out, it is a bit disappointing. As I said though, the steak was sublime. Melty, delicious steak, with a perfectly cooked mushy and delicious béarnaise sauce was divine. That paired with a very reasonably priced Bird-in-Hand shiraz made my night. Literally no room for dessert. Overall we had a really nice night. It's a warm atmosphere and the service was really good...perhaps just order another dish if you're after something fishy!

So initially it felt like I was walking into a very well presented, classy and very pubby looking Narnia. And I did find an animal in there - a small dog and his well chewed tennis ball. This dog was a regular, we know because the friendly barman told us. Staff were really friendly and I got the feel of a family owned business. We got our food quickly (which was good because I was quite hungry) but this also could have been because we were the only ones in the front bar (except for the dog). We went for a pub classic, the Schnitzel, which at $17.90 was one of the cheapest meals on the menu. How was the schnitzel? well... the beer battered chips were amazing!! The schnitzel was quite bland and my partner who had the parmy said that the cheese had no flavour. However, he REALLY likes cheese. I think it would be a great front bar area for a fun, busy night and the function rooms look amazing - decked out with fairy lights and modern decor. If you're looking for a different pub to all the obvious ones around town, head to the Kentish Arms for a drink or some chips. Give the dog a pat for me! I forgot to!

"Oils ain't oils" as they say, so if you want the good oil on this joint look toward it's picture board - a wall of photos capturing characters who have wined and dined and wined here before. It gives further insight into the humble and fun nature of the place. Smiling Chef Sam Antoniou is found in the kitchen with parents Toula and Peter. They all wield cheeky senses of humour, upping the enjoyment ante of your visit. Ultimately you've come for their food. The best way to tackle it in these family-type digs is to hoard some friends around an Astros banquet. The "Apollo" includes chicken yiros and calamari; adventure into the "Poseidon" and tiropites (cheese triangles), lamb yiros and whitebait await; or brace yourself for the "Zeus" and be further fortified with Greek sausages and prawns. There's a takeaway menu, outdoor tables and car parks at that Caltex. Plonk wise it's licensed but the corkage too is a little cheeky so perhaps play "when in Rome" or Greece as it were with the wine list and try some vino tipples from the homeland.

This means I'm left to tackle the chicken breast as big as my head and generous salad, which to be honest is probably more than I can handle in itself! They do a bunch of my Greek faves... whitebait, saganaki, meatballs, kalamari and a bunch of others as entrees or mezze.The mains boast every type of souvlaki or yiros, along with moussaka, mix grill, selection of fish, prawns, or even quail.

I've dined in their small function room; a teensy little quiet space at the back of the restaurant and also in their restaurant before a night at the theatre and both times I've walked away wondering if I'm going to the same place everyone in Adelaide raves about all the time? Meals are incredible value and a main course will feed 2 people. You can order an entree size of almost everything though (even though that's not mentioned on the menu). Both times I've dined here on a pasta and a risotto dish) I've found the food to be incredibly salty and otherwise pretty plain in flavours. Salt, cheese, and maybe another herb. Little things like undercooked pumpkin in a dish and too few prawns in a risotto were also a bit disappointing. I've dined at quite a few spots that can make a simple napoletana pasta taste like angel's tears but unfortunately I'm yet to be convinced here. The service here is incredibly quick but often feels rushed and a little intense as a result. It's a great place to bring a group as you can actually hear each other even when it is buzzing with theatre of footy goers. Do make sure you book in advance though and don't eat lunch beforehand!
