Needs serious renovation. It's like a huge retirement village. I don't know if you still can find those chairs in a nursing home even. The seafood platter was pretty expensive for what you get and everything is over cooked. scallops were dry, grill fish was hard and dry. We ordered a cocktail as staff recommended, but the flavour was very confusing, not really sure what we were drinking. no alcohol taste, weird mix fruit flavour with crushing ice. It has so much potential, what a shame. Good luck to it. Won't go here again.

And although it sounds cheesy and lame (and it is), I can still unashamedly say it is pretty damn cool to be moving around while you sip your Sav Blanc or eat your $25 oyster entrée with those tiny comical oyster forks. I put a lot of pressure on the revolving restaurant as I choose to go there with my boyfriend for our six month anniversary (he surprised me by saying we were going somewhere 'revolutionary'. Lame but cute.) We were greeted by a waiter with a very French accent and shown to a table. We were given a menu and some table water and had the napkins delicately placed across our laps. And then we proceeded to sit there for half an hour while no one came back to take our order and I actually had to flag someone done. This unfortunately became the theme of the evening, the service was exceptional, when you got it, which for us was hardly ever. When our order was taken there was a mix up in the kitchen and our mains arrived before our entrée which lead to more waiting. When the oysters arrived they were piping hot and very good which can also be said for the main courses of fancy surf and turf and the braised lamb shanks. The revolving part is great as it offers a wonderful view of Adelaide and the beach, and is especially nice when the sun goes down and the lights come out. However, it is only the outside of the dining room that moves (not the bar or the kitchen in the middle) so it can become very disorientating when you get up to pay or want to go to the toilet because the toilets that were on your left aren't there anymore and won't be for another half hour. We received several apologies regarding the poor quality of service we received and we weren't charged for our entrée which we were grateful for. Overall the bad service probably was just a one off but with prices way out of the range University students can afford, we won't be rushing back.

It's such a shame that most reviews only happen after disappointment…read more I'll try not to follow that formula. We are staying at the Stamford in Glenelg so it only made sense to try their restaurant. After driving all day, we were rather exhausted, so happy to sit down for dinner early and a superficial look down the street did not seem to bode well for a quiet dinner. Probably a little too early and with the restaurant empty, I opted for their Singapore specials. Very quickly started off with entrees of vegetarian spring rolls and Singaporean curry puffs. Both nice and the curry puffs very well spiced but not exceptional. Then, although waiting staff were quite pleasant (perhaps the lovely young lady might have stopped chewing gum during service) and reasonably efficient we now waited almost an hour before the mains were served. As I was already exhausted this was quite a struggle but eventually my Nasi Goren's arrived. It was actually lovely. Well flavored and nicely prepared. Had an LPA to wash it all down and then retired for a good sleep

Who would dream up such a thing? The Stamford Grand as it turns out. With no advertising, the event sold out within 2 weeks. Sun shining and sea breeze blowing, we signed the Guinness World Record register for the World's Longest Cream Tea, found our seats, and were offered a glass of Jacobs Creek bubbles. Everyone was jolly, despite the increasing sea gusts, as we were all in it to support Novita Children's Services. We were dutifully informed that there was a contingency of Guinness World Record officials monitoring our every move. The defining act - taking at least one sip of tea and eating at least one bite of scone each - to secure the record. A tantalising glimpse at the menu tempted us as we sipped bubbly and were offered refills of our tea by a smiling steward. Before too long, and surprisingly quick given the huge amount of people to cater for, a two tier stand arrived laden with sandwiches, hot savouries including the Stamford Grand's signature curry (chicken) puff and tandoori chicken skewers, scones, and teeny cakes. There were fruit tarts, banana cake squares, mixed berry mouse, and mango pavlova's. Awaiting a special meal (vegetarian) I was informed that I would get my very own plate. Well given the chill wind I couldn't wait and did my bit for the Guinness World Record and sampled the scones and other sweets. The scones were perfectly warm and short, accompanied with a variety of jams and whipped cream. My favourite sweet was the fruit tart with lovely pastry, custard and glazed fruit. Having been marked off the register for the Record, my individual vegetarian plate arrived. It is most impressive that dietary considerations are accommodated for such a large scale event. Plus everything on the plate was delicious! A vegie skewer of barbequed veg had nice smokey and sweet flavour, there was a tasty samosa, finger sandwiches including pesto sun dried veg, guacamole, and salad, a piece of orange syrup cake, and carrot & walnut cake. It was at about this point that a particularly gusty burl of wind air lifted my mother in law's hat and sent it soaring effortlessly across the jetty onto the beach below. Justin Higgins, General Manager of the Stamford Grand shouted "I'll get it!" and so he did, collecting some sir lifted napkins and glasses at the same time. We had the opportunity to ask if the long high tea would happen again, and all signs point to yes due to the success. As the weather was closing in, once we had supped on the delicious goodies, we took to the promenade back along the jetty. Smiling staff, as on arrival, farewelled us, welcomed us back soon, and told us that if the world record bid was successful, that we could expect our certificates in the mail.

Tucked into a very awesome front looking yacht side of the walkers, Tomiko Japanese Steak House is definitely a sure spot to be at. With only 2 Teppanyaki Grill seating up to 8/9 people, you'll sure need to booking in advance. They have both a indoor and outdoor seating, elegantly decorated with transparent window sill to keep the cold night air out but promises to keep the view of the yacht decks and local river view displayed during your dine in. We did a walk-in and was seated immediately outdoors for a dinner setting, seating up to 6 people in our party. Unfortunately, we didn't book the Teppanyaki so we just opt to be outside. I did not see a heater unit as the weather in the summer is generally warm and cool, except for bizarre weather coming thru these days. They have a very generous selection of bottle beers, beer on tap, and unique cocktails, spirits and definitely a whole sleuth of wine selection from White to Reds. We ordered the Seafood Platter that came as pictured and it paired perfectly with my pint of fresh Sapporo Beer on tap and a glass of Cab Sauv from the hills of Adelaide. A few of our friends that were with us enjoyed their mains as much as we did. Customer service is top notch making sure you are happy and satisfied with your selection. The price is a bit on the high side as our dish alone was above the 100's. So if you're looking for something more affordable, you may want to reconsider other options. In the other hand, they have a great selection of shareable items that can possible give you the ideal meal or dinner. Recommending this establishment for those wanting to experience something different. Next time, we're going for the fresh cooking experience that is Teppanyaki.

The Buffalo was the first ship to arrive at Glenelg in 1836 to establish the free colony of South Australia. 176 settlers were on board including then Captain John Hindmarsh was later became the first Governor of South Australia. The Buffalo Restaurant as you would expect is essentially a seafood restaurant serving lunch and dinner between Tuesday and Saturday. There is a different menu for lunch and dinner and these days they offer a take-away menu. Most of the food is in the style of pub style and lunches are under $20, dinner mains are mostly $20 - $25. They also offer a kids menu and will cater for kids parties. The food probably isn't the main attraction on the Buffalo and most people probably visit more for the experience and to visit the ship's museum. The voyage from the UK took 158 days and on board you can read extracts from both the ship's daily log and the personal diary of the Captain's secretary, George Stevenson. The Buffalo is worth a visit if you're a history buff - no pun intended.
