This thick corn cake was fried to a crispy light golden brown crust with a moist and tender very sweet interior. It was topped with melted cheese (queso a mano) or white mozzarella. It also was covered with a fairly tender layer of barbecued beef plus slices of fresh avocado. Big serving - big flavor. Also grabbed a half dozen "Colombian" style empanadas (2 of each type: chicken, beef, or cheese.) Well cooked, slightly thick cornmeal crust and amply filled. And on the completely other end of town... The tacos el pastor are reminiscent of the tacos I was eating on the shores of Los Cabos with bits of pineapple giving a little umph to the marinated pork. And the tamales wrapped in banana leaves took me back to the Yucatan peninsula with the uniquely seasoned and wrapped tamales. Their food is just amazing! The service is good, too. You order at the makeshift counter (this is an outdoor stall of sorts situated with Chilean and Salvadorian neighbors) then they deliver the food to your table along with salsas and flatware. While there isn't air conditioning, luckily there was a nice light breeze when we were there. This trip we very much enjoyed both Mexican and Salvadorian food.
