IDF Studio and specifically our designer Blaire Schenck transformed our home in 2025…read more We found IDF online and liked what we saw on their web site. Their interior design work was so tasteful and made such great use of color; it really appealed to us! We contacted them and soon had an initial phone call with the founder and CEO, Kassin Adelman. Soon after, everything started unfolding nicely. I think we contacted them in May last year and the project was 98% finished just before Thanksgiving. Blaire was assigned our project and we had the best time working with her. We wanted work done on the whole interior, except the kitchen and bathrooms. She asked us a lot of questions to get to know us and she and another staff member (Callie) took measurements (tons of measurements) to be used for CAD drawings. We had a few Zoom meetings where Blaire shared initial and then more developed designs with us. We received documents to approve purchases (that they handled). We used their recommended contractor (R5, Emerson Duque) for painting and lighting upgrades, fireplace remodel, new closet doors, etc. The contractor and his team were the best we've ever worked with. Blaire's designs were amazing. So beautiful and fun and unique to us. We are big fans of music and cycling and color and art. Blaire worked these themes into our home so beautifully! Her design and use of our art and photos was spectacular. We have to mention her emails- they were wonderful. So complete and full of ideas and options and explanations. And always kind and positive (and funny!). We went into the project a little unclear as to how much we would need to spend, and also unclear as to the scope of our project. We had an initial budget in mind but wound up going over. However, what we got was so worth it. We have no qualms whatsoever about increasing our budget to get such nice work done. Lara in purchasing was also amazing to work with. Just like Blaire- always helpful and cheerful and responsive. We are extremely happy we hired IDF Studio to turn our home into a space so unique and beautiful. 100% recommend.

I loved the space as it was built and didn't want extensive changes, but window treatments were important to me -- the house has more windows than walls and didn't come with any way to cover them up -- which ultimately necessitated some remodeling. After selecting and interviewing 6 design firms based on their reviews and portfolios, I brought on Annie and her team to help. From the beginning of the process, I was impressed by Annie's depth of knowledge, her solution-oriented mindset, and her commitment to matching the space to my needs. Throughout the process, I found Annie and her team a delight to work with. They were always friendly, prepared, and efficient. More importantly to me, they were deeply collaborative. There were times when I knew exactly what I wanted (e.g. laying out a project space or cabinetry for an entertainment center), even showing up with custom specs or sketches, and Annie's team adopted them and made them happen. On the other hand, there were times when I struggled to decide on something, and they stepped in and offered their own recommendations. They were great at both, and switched effortlessly as needed. Even for things outside of ALI's scope, nothing gave Annie pause, and she always had someone on speed dial to solve the problem. My home has high vaulted windows, and I told Annie up front that I wanted motorized shades. She immediately agreed that made sense (another designer I spoke with seemed overwhelmed by the prospect), and subsequently brought in a general contractor, a drapery fabricator, and an installer. Not only were they also all friendly, reliable, and efficient, but they shared Annie's collaborative style. I felt shared ownership over the solutions we came up with, and the end result is fantastic -- it looks like it could have been built with the house. I would happily bring any of them back for future work. End-to-end, the whole project took about 14 months until installation (with a few stragglers), a month behind Annie's initial target. We were also slightly under budget, which surprised me. Throughout the process, Annie offered great options mostly at or around the target price, but often included a higher-end option. In some cases, I *loved* those options and chose to go over budget. But even though we ended up well over budget on cost of goods, we were so far under budget on time billing and other costs that it more than made up for it, a reflection of her team's efficiency. But most importantly, I am delighted with the results. Everything is beautiful, comfortable, works for my needs, and filled with creative touches that I would never have selected on my own. I feel like I got exactly what I wanted out of the process, and I would happily bring Annie and her team back if I need interior help in the future.

Her creativity and vision combined with her great expertise brought our homes to life in unique and beautiful ways. We first teamed up with Annie on an extensive remodel of our historic San Francisco home that included a full kitchen/dining area gutting, multiple new bathrooms, paint, art consulting and soft goods throughout. Our architect had recommended ALI based on Annie's experience updating historic homes like ours, but what stood out for us was how direct and organized her process was from day one, including a high level of budget transparency. One of the highlights of working with Annie over the course of this two-year project was her ability to cater to our preferences while also pushing us out of our comfort zone when she saw the opportunity for something really special. Two years into living in our home, many of our favorite elements are those things we never would have considered had she not nudged us toward them. Another strength of Annie's was listening to our needs when it came to functionality--with two young boys at home, durability and practicality were often a factor for us. In those cases, Annie managed to produce designs that elegantly and creatively addressed those needs, from hidden pull-out drawers for toy storage in a custom sofa to upholstery fabrics that are durable while still feeling luxurious. Annie's lighting selection and sense of color were also highlights for us. The fixtures she helped us select for our foyer and living room are far from simple sources of light, they are true works of art, hand-made by artisans from her unique repertoire of craftspeople. As for color, she pushed us (in a good way) to consider applications that initially felt dramatic but ultimately turned those areas into visually lush spaces that we love to be in. Our second project with Annie and team was for our vacation home in Wine Country, involving mainly soft goods and design consulting for both indoor and outdoor areas. Outdoors included new construction of a kitchen and pool with surrounding living areas. In contrast to our San Francisco home with all of its historic embellishments and the design to match, the Sonoma home is all modern, clean lines. Annie didn't skip a beat in pivoting to a more relaxed, organic style befitting of the more rural terroir. Whether indoors or out, the resulting spaces are comfortable yet elegant, and once again Annie delivered designs that are both beautiful yet functional. Annie and team helped turn both of our houses into homes that we love living in and that visitors constantly compliment us on. From managing the myriad details passing between us and our architect and contractor during construction, to presenting us with furniture and lighting pieces that we fell in love with, Annie made our renovation journeys inspiring and fun and we've been enjoying the results ever since.

They were very thoughtful in listening to our input and considering our style while also pushing us to elevate our style. We are delighted by the end result of the design work - our house looks incredible as a result of their work and feels very much an expression of our family. We very much look forward to continuing to work with Kress and Denise in the future. Kress and Denise were very patient with our busy work schedule and made the experience as easy as possible by being onsite to help arrange for furniture delivery or to oversee any work by contractors. We feel so lucky to have such a wonderful area for our baby to grow up in and to play in as she grows up!

But if you want a…read moredesigner who will incorporate your look or your pieces you love, this is not the designer for you. Kress told me "you have a perfectly designed house"...it just isn't one I like and does not reflect what We told her We wanted. She didn't take time to get to know us and only looked at our Pinterest pages after we asked her to a month after into getting nowhere. She ignored me in front of vendors and when I asked if I should chime in, she told me they would tell me what they decided after. It was made clear that, as the client, my input was unwarranted and not welcomed. She was nice at the first meeting but as our time together went on, I found her to be condescending, rude and I think a little sexist! I have since interviewed several other designers (and hired a great one!) and found that what Kress delivered to us was far below industry standard. She is working on ancient platforms...she sent us PDF's with photos of pieces she wanted us to buy. It was just an image and a price. No sizing included. She is both incapable and unwilling to do any type of 3D layouts despite having everything measured already. She also could not give me two pieces to chose from, such as a bed, that would work in a room. She had to do an entire room per bed and told me anything else was "not industry standard". Actually, it is. I was duped by Kress and hope no one else is. Again, like her style but as a designer, the normal standard is to creat a beautiful space that the client loves, not just what Kress loves.

After talking to a few different firms, Kanika Design just felt like the right fit. Kanika really listened to what we wanted. I've always been a bit nervous about using bold colors, but she pushed us (in a good way!) for a deeper color palette in the main living areas. It looks incredible. Kanika found us so many unique, high-quality furniture pieces that you just won't find at a big-box store. The biggest thing for us was logistics. Once the design process completed, their team handled everything - architectural, permit headache, and construction. Anyone who has done a remodel knows things never go 100% perfectly, but whenever an issue popped up, they were on top of it immediately. They kept the contractors moving and kept us updated on the budget and what was happening next. It's a relief to finally be done after 2 years and have a home that feels like us but way better. I can't recommend Kanika and her team enough. We're still obsessed with how everything turned out.
