CorePower Yoga Poway was an amazing experience! I joined my friend during the Sunday 11am free class and it was an intense workout hour! Apparently it was challenging even for regulars, and I loved our instructor who provided several options to increase/lower the difficulties in certain movements. I've done several hot yoga at different establishments, but I've never let out a sweat like that before. It left our group in a state of mental calm and appreciation. Loved it a lot! I highly recommend the free class as its accessible to anyone and it was a great way to spend a Sunday refreshing your body and mind for the upcoming work week! read more

CorePower Poway is one of the nicer studios in San Diego, it has a lot of space! I appreciate the larger area for the women's locker/bathroom. It never feels crowded. I do wish there was more than one sink though. It is always clean and they provide feminine products, hair ties, mouthwash, etc. The studio itself is also larger, so again, I never felt crowded during class. The instructors are always friendly and informative. I still consider myself a beginner so I was able to follow C2 and Hot Power Fusion classes just fine. I do appreciate alternatives provided if there is a complicated move! read more

I have been to both CorePower Yoga in 4s Ranch and Poway. I like that the instructors at both facilities can be at either location. Both locations are convenient, with lots of available parking, well maintained and clean. There are classes ranging from relaxing stretch yoga (called Core Restore) to hot yoga (different levels) to sculpting yoga (with weights). read more

I went to Hot Power Fusion today with Ronan. He is a wonderful teacher and imparts words to calm the soul. The heated room is just right, enough to make you sweat from doing something simple like tree pose. So this HPF class has a standardized format at all the core power yogas. It has a simple sequence going from standing, back bend, rag doll, halfway lift etc. without having too many chaturangas. I think we did two chaturanga in class. HPF class is a little bit easier than core power 2 class. Good for someone like me who is coming back to yoga after a long dormant period. When I find time, I'll be back again. read more

A month ago, I started classes at the studio, but personal challenges forced me to take a break. When I returned, I struggled--barely able to keep up for 15 minutes, which was frustrating since I used to handle much more. Nervous about coming back but determined to push through, I shared my concerns with Ronan. His attentive support made all the difference, helping me complete his entire class with confidence. I also absolutely love Dante's classes; his flows perfectly match my energy and are always energizing, never disappointing. All the instructors are wonderful, each with a unique style, which is great because it lets you choose a class that suits how you feel on any given day. read more

on my first day trying this studio, i loved it! i attended a hot yoga class and they had the best heated rooms and it felt like a very nice space! on my second day, it was the same, other than i entered the class with a not-so-nice encounter with a worker, Anddrea. i like to give people the benefit of the doubt and maybe it was truly just a bad morning! she seemed very negative and brushed me off when signing into the class. i loved this atmosphere but will unfortunately have to try and find another studio! this place is GREAT if you're GREAT at yoga because the staff probably won't matter as much as the practice :) read more

I absolutely love that they have so many locations and classes so that I can always find one to fit my schedule. My favorite instructors are Emogene, Emily, Dante, Siena, Joann, Kelsey! The facilities are super nice and clean and everyone is so nice, friendly and helpful!! read more

I've been to many different CorePowers all over the country. We recently moved and this is our new home studio. Most of it is fantastic! My huge complaint and the reason for the lower stars rating is with Karen's C2 classes. She runs them way too hot - HPF level heat. There's a certain temperature the room is supposed to be with different classes, and students have the right to expect that temperature for obvious reasons. I've had to walk out of her class before, and I'm not the only one. She also calls people out by name when they're not doing something correctly - another thing I was taught by CPY to never do. Some of her C2s are more like aerobics than vinyasa. I go to CPY to destress. If I wanted an aerobics class I would take a sculpt. If I wanted an over-heated class I would take an HPF. If you want anxiety during yoga, take Karen's C2. Shoutout to MaryBeth though. Her classes are awesome. read more

CorePower Yoga Poway one of my first studios diving into Hot Yoga back in the day! This studio is awesome with all of their class offerings and great instructors. Previously when I would come here I would take C2 Classes taught by MaryBeth and Rebecca. Every class is truly special from beginning to end. The instructors are great at guiding and offering adjustments. I love CorePower and haven't been here since doing a class on my birthday back in March. The added heat is always great, but even a C1 Class I certainly break a sweat as I dive into my practice. I can't wait to return here again when things open up again slowly, but surely due to Covid-19. read more

Love the class! Loved Emily! Our instructor today was great. She was active with her students. Walked around, corrected postures and her instructions were clear and calming. The inside of the studio was nice and clean. Had a bunch of expensive yoga attire for sale and low cost mats. They have a men's and women's locker room with free locks, mats and towels to use. Inside there's also a shower if needed. Definitely joining another class. read more

I looked at the schedule on my phone the day before the class around 10pm for Poway and it said there was a 6am class with Madelyn. I got there on time and there were 7 other yogis saying the class was cancelled and mad. This type of service is unacceptable for the price we are paying. Not only did this take up gas to get to the studio, it took up my time that I could have gone to another studio. This is absolutely outrageous. My home studio is in San Francisco, but I'm home visiting my family for Christmas, so I went to CPY Poway for C2 on 12/23 and 12/24. I had the pleasure of taking Mary Beth's class at 12:15 on Tuesday. I liked her from the minute she checked me in and thoroughly enjoyed her class. At the end, she shared a very personal story/family tradition and gifted each of us with tea light candles and a piece of paper with a motivational quote printed on it. I've never felt so connected to an instructor than in that moment. I appreciated her opening up more than she knows. The next day (Christmas Eve!), I took Karen's class. Tbh, the studio was buzzing and hectic when I walked in, so I wasn't sure if today would be a good class or not - it can always go either way when your experience starts with a little chaos. Wow, Karen's class was tough... in the best way possible. Just the workout I needed before a few days of overindulgence (who am I kidding... this whole month has been that - hah!). I typically don't feel comfortable at a new studio on my first, second or even third class, but CPY Poway exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be back any time I'm in town. read more

What a great work out! We came for the CorePower 1 class & loved it! Single Class $20, but if you are in the military or in school, $17. Our instructor was so sweet, encouraging, & gave fantastic hands on adjustments. The class went through flows, postures, & although the class was not heated, I broke a nice sweat. I enjoyed that at the end of the class when we were in shavasana, the instructor went around & gave us a massage, the cherry to the cake! The studio is clean. The yoga room is very relaxing & spacious. read more

I finally came back after my one week free pass from last year. That took awhile. Well the classes are pricey. You need to purchase multiple classes so it will be a little bit cheaper. I've tried yoga in other places but I definitely like the CorePower Yoga classes the best. I feel a better workout when I come to one of their Yoga studios. I went today and the class wasn't crowded at all. I tried the 1 class before and I was worried I wouldn't be able to handle anything above 1 so I tried the 1.5 just to see how I would like the heated room. Honestly it wasn't bad. I'll be trying other heated Yoga classes soon. I love the flow sequences they teach. It's always smooth transitions between the poses. I like how they concentrate on breathing as well. Yoga is fun to learn and I am glad I am trying it. I purchased a Gilt City deal so i'll be visiting when I want to take a class. It's good to add these classes in my workouts. read more

I always thought Core Power would be kinda aerobics and corporate but instead it's awesome. Karen is a wonderful teacher, easy to follow, with a beautiful voice - this matters hugely to me - and great taste in music - also crucial for me. I loved the hot power fusion class, which is similar to a Modo Flow. The studio is clean and welcoming and the bathrooms really well-equipped. I came in feeling exhausted and left sweaty and light on my feet after a calming and energizing workout. read more

This is newest addition to the CPY family. It's so clean and inviting, definitely one of the nicer studios and there are 4-5 showers. Instructors are super nice and helpful. Decent size studio. I absolutely loved CorePower yoga, I signed up for a free 7 week trial and had every intention of purchasing a package even though it's very pricey at $155 a month for unlimited yoga. That being said I signed up on a Friday and on the following Friday went to take a class with every intention of getting a membership except for the fact that when they scanned me (marybeth) told me I owe them. I said I don't understand how I owe anything when I've been on a trial. She explained that the trial had ended Thursday because they count consecutive days from the day I signed up so I didn't have any more days on my trial. The way she said it was very harsh, almost as if she was telling me to go away, she honestly made me feel like because I was on a trial I was a second class citizen. She didn't offer me any other alternative like asking me if I wanted to sign up for a membership or just pay a $29 fee to take the class. She just blatantly said your trial has ended sorry and went back to her computer. It's so disappointing because I had every intention of signing up but due to the fact that she left me with a very sour taste in my mouth I decided not to. Instead I drove down to the chuze fitness and just got a regular gym membership. Up until that point I had had a perfect experience. I took five classes and thoroughly enjoyed them, it is disappointing that my experience ended on such a low note. read more

This is my 2nd go-to Corepower location - it's really close to my apartment, the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the parking situation. It's located in the same shopping center as Outback Steakhouse and Target, but it shares a small area of the parking lot w/ Outback Steakhouse and parking can be really tough - especially for someone like me who is always running late to class. The thing that keeps me coming is Shane's Core Restore class every Friday night at 7pm. It's the most underrated class ever. It's a great way to end a hectic week...just relax and stretch it out. The instructors offer adjustments and massages which help you to relax and sink in deeper. I will continue to come here of course, since I am a Black Tag Member, just wish the parking situation was a little better :( read more

For the 8:30 class, I'm at the door by 8:30 and it's closed. There's an instructor who sees me and closes the door. When I knock, they are sitting inside with no response and I'm wondering what's happening. A girl who was late to the class then tells me that it's their policy. All this while it was pouring outside! At the very least, have the courtesy to tell me the policy if I'm waiting at the door or when people sign up! I have come to at least 10 classes till now and this is the first time I learnt about this policy. I am sure the policy is in place with the right intention but let people know when they sign up for the first time to avoid situations like this. read more

Pretend Candlelight Yoga. Don't be fooled by the romantic notion that you'll be doing yoga by candlelight at the Candlelight Yoga Class. It was candlelight and wonderfully relaxing right up until the instructor walked in. Upon her entry tonight she cranked up the lights, her instruction was amped like she didn't care it was supposed to be a candlelight class at 8:30pm, and then yelled at us to get amped like her because our verbal response wasn't loud enough or energetic enough for her. Ummm....talk about ruining the mood. If i wanted a regular daytime yoga class experince I would not have sought out the candelight one. Will not be back for 'Candelight' class. Oh, and class was so packed couldn't do supine twist without bumping into both neighbors on either side. Next time a class is this packed I'm just going to leave and demand my money back. My first Corepower Yoga class was back in 2008 in PB with a girlfriend of mine and I've been a huge fan ever since. I was excited to hear they were opening up a location closer to me. Beautiful studio and a great workout that will leave you feeling accomplished and at ease with your body. 3 out of 5 stars because I feel like every class is jam packed. I hate that! I don't wanna feel like someone's about to fart in my face when I'm in my down ward dog position or vice versa. So glad my friend talked me into trying out yoga and in particular this studio. Had a great experience and found something I can do to get healthy for the new year. I am probably the laziest, least active person you'll meet. I really wanted to get more active but to start off with baby steps. My friend introduced me to this studio, decided to give it a shot since it was free for the first week. Went to the intro to power yoga sessions. I was able to keep up most of the time and it felt great afterwards. Loved the two instructors I had. Lisa is awesome. Her pace was just right for a beginner like me and she was very attentive. Her voice is also really soothing and made relaxing so easy. I also had a great time with Cory, he's super energetic and great at explaining how to move into each pose properly. Facilities here are really nice, locker and shower areas are very well maintained. Overall great impression and will likely be back whenever I'm in SD. read more

Such a great studio with a dedicated staff. The classes around dinner time can get a bit crowded in terms of parking since it's right next to Outback but there are so many times throughout the day that you are sure to find a time that works for you. Honestly, I am a big fan of CorePower Yoga, and enjoy taking classes at least 4-5 times a week. Due to my schedule, I am able to take classes throughout all over San Diego. Unfortunately, I came to this studio particular place 2-3 times and wasn't impressed at all. The room gets ready by last minute and you literally have to wait by the door instead of getting ready or relaxing on the mat inside the classroom. Their fan/heating/air system is weird-working: HPF room gets too hot and stuffy, and believe me I know the difference, since I've been in other places. Doors can be locked when you come, and even if there's somebody inside, nobody bother to open, unless there's a teacher at the counter. It's clean, updated, state-of-art yoga venue, with all comfortable amenities, just missing some management adjustment. I love teachers' professionalism and expertise in yoga, they teach classes in a moderate/advance level. Again, I am fond of CorePower Community and Clubs and believe that this studio can do a little bit better since it's covering such a big Poway area. read more

I started at CorePower about two months ago and I have quickly become a big fan. The Poway studio with little bouncy super strong instructor Catrina (Yoga Sculpt, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:45 pm, Sundays 11:30 am) is my absolute favorite. Today though they told me about their 'bootcamp' that they have going on in September - and they charge $319 (even if you are already a monthly paying member!) to attend this bootcamp every morning from 6 to 7 am. So they cancel the regular classes they usually have at that time and hold the 'bootcamp' and charge an extra (and very high) price. That does not seem right to me. Not cool. I definitely won't attend the 'bootcamp' - have to look out for other studios for my morning classes then. read more

I was very pleased with how professional this yoga studio is, it is very clean and beautiful inside. The second you walk in, you feel like you're at a spa which is very nice. They have yoga mats that you can rent for I believe $2 and there is also a locker room with showers and restrooms. They have everything you could possibly need here in order to be prepared for class. The 'Level 1: Intro to Power Yoga' classes here are fantastic for those seeking guidance on how to do the classic Vinyasa series. I used their 'free week' package for new clients and attended a few of those level 1 classes. The room is set to be a little bit warm so your muscles and your breathing can comfortably adapt to the flow. I would like to bring up that this studio is far different than the set-up of where I usually go because here at CorePower, it seems to be less focused on meditation/spirituality and more focused on the body/sculpting/strengthening. This isn't a negative thing, it is just a different vibe for someone coming from a studio where there are no mirrors, no music, where incense is used, and chanting is preformed. At CorePower we only did Shavasana for less than 5 minutes whereas I am used to a 15(+) minute Shavasana. Overall, I definitely recommend this studio for you if you are seeking improvement in your alignment, your pace of practice, and how to properly hold the poses, but not necessarily to be brought inward. read more

My first visit here I was actually convinced to go by my husband. Never having done yoga in my life, I thought okay sure, I will try it. Little did he tell me that the class was a intro to hot yoga C 1.5. Boy did I get the last laugh! I was akward and felt like dying by the end of the class. And I almost didn't want to come back, at that point. But I came back and I did the beginners C1 candlelight class, still a warm room, but not as hot as C 1.5 in my opinion. Matt was the instructor and his teaching style for a beginner like myself really influenced me to want to try coming to the class once a week. Matt has a gentle tone in his voice that is encouraging and he provides modifications for harder poses. Also, there are all types of people that are in this class, a mix of young and old, different body shapes and sizes, which make it less intimidating for newbies. They offer a free week for new people, and if your uninterested in the monthly membership or packages the drop in rate for students is $13, and you can rent a mat if needed for $2. Although a small location, they offer various times and classes, and the studio is clean and staff are friendly. The music they play in the class is cool too :-) Tip: drink lots of water before your session, really it sounds like common sense, but it's a must. read more

this is what I look forward to every damn day STUDIO AMBIANCE: always clean NEVER moldy smelling, water fountains available, locker room with clean showers, and cute merchandise/tools on sale. CLASSES: I started as a Bikram Yogi so i was almost anti vinyasa flow until CorePower! I love their different class options all heated: - Vinyasa Flows with integrated arm balance/inversions which they call C1 (beginner), C2 (intermediate), or C3 (advance, which is few and far between) - SCULPT: is a power flow with weights similar to a boot camp class with yoga mixed in haha - HPF (Hot Power Fusion): their "hot yoga" similar to Bikram but only 60mins with less heat (still uses the humidifier) and one set of each pose - RESTORATIVE is a stretching/lengthening class to restore the body TEACHERS: Mostly all teachers are fantastic, but my faves at this studio are KYRIÉ and CARLOS. Kyrie (pronounced Kari-Aye) is sooo sweet and encouraging! She makes you feel safe to let go of expectation and disappointment and is wonderful at demonstrating her arm balances/inversions in C2. Carlos is a tough yet motivating teacher - he puts together great flows that are challenging and in return dishes out great recovery love when cooling down! BOTH always have on-point music for their HPF classes as well - so rad! PRICE: it's a little expensive compared to a gym membership, but if you practice at least 3-4 times a week the monthly unlimited is SO worth it. They have an education (teachers/students) and military (I believe) discounts too. They have a great policy too - you can freeze your account up to 3mos and no contracted duration for your membership. #yogaeveydamnday read more

I am a long-time practitioner and teacher of vinyasa flow/power yoga and was looking for classes to push my asana practice forward and for inspiration. Let me say that I was always skeptical about heated yoga as I build a lot of internal heat in a 72-75F room but with a good Groupon and convenient location, I decided to give it a good try. I started with the C1 class for safety reasons and the room was warm and comfortable, teacher was kind and detailed, but definitely not for true beginners IMHO as they go into complex poses like Crow/Bakasana. To be fair, they do give detailed instructions on how to get into it but they do not always break down the vinyasa cycle. My favorite classes are the C1.5 and C2 - I have tried at least 4 different teachers and each have their own flair and color so it is not boring. I love Matt W - I signed up for 10 more classes after my Groupon pass expired mainly because of him. LIsa M is an amazing teacher with a lot of detail on alignment, Catrina is very fun, and Carlos is super thoughtful in his sequencing. I love creative classes and all of them encourage play and adventure instead of perfection. I sweat like mad and the heat makes it a little tougher to breathe as deep as I am used to but I definitely enjoy it. I also tried the HPF class and while it was hot, it was good. I enjoy CPY during these colder months. Wish it was not quite so expensive but the personal reward is worth it. It was a typical Sunday when my best friend excitedly texted me to tell me she was heading to her first yoga class at CorePower Yoga. Unfortunately, when said BFF arrived at this location, she found the front door had been locked because it was 4:05 (class begins at 4) A team member then opened the door and barred her from entry because the other members were "getting grounded and centered" Now tell me, is this the kind of legalism and rigidity that you want to be involved with? I think not. We will be aligning our chakras in an environment that fosters more authenticity and respect. read more

I'm a runner and a climber. I don't need to get a lot out of my yoga practice. I like my yoga to gently counteract my ever tightening hips and shoulders. I decided to try out corepower yoga despite being a loyal customer to RB yoga because I liked that corepower had early early morning classes and late late evening classes. I decided my first class would be a beginners 8pm candlelight class on Tuesday night. There weren't many people, maybe 8. I can not believe that was a beginners class. It was so quick. We were flying around with so little alignment correction that its not surprising that I hurt myself. By the way, I hurt myself really bad. Its been two days and I am terrified by the amount of rotator cuff pain I have. I have a feeling that if I were practicing yoga alone at home, I wouldn't have bruised myself like this. It's the instructors fault for making us go through the poses at a lighting fast pace IN A BEGINNERS CLASS. Did I mention I've been doing yoga for 3 years? Yeah, this has never happened to me before. Yoga is supposed to heal, not tear. My rock climbing trip to Joshua tree has been canceled. Thanks Corepower. read more

Here's my breakdown: PROS....... Clean facility Early morning and late night classes Great calorie burning workouts Love the heated classes...sweat baby sweat! CONS....... Repetitive workouts. All classes regardless of the instructor follow the same routine Beginner classes aren't really beginners. Not much instructions or guidance for modifications. I think corepower yoga is for more intermediate people who like a great workout. I felt like they took the practice of yoga and commercialized it. I like the workout that comes with yoga but sometime I like the option for restorative yoga and they do not offer that. They also do some transitions without guidance that could potentially throw someone's back out if they don't have the core or body strength yet. Overall, not a bad yoga studio. Depends what you want. I personally wouldn't choose Corepower as my first choice in a yoga studio. read more

This place is great. I was a big Bikram guy and just stopped. Don't know why. I like this yoga better because 60 vs. 90 minutes, they play good music (mostly), and no bright lights. This is a clean studio with great instructors and the heat is just right. Dani and Matt are top notch instructors, really into what they are doing, and you get a sense that they really care. They walk the walk. THE CP2 is a real good work out. I'm on a Groupon for a month and will get a membership once this expires. Give it a try; you'll dig it. read more

LOVE Corepower and LOVE this location! :) I used to go to the La Jolla location but I moved closer to this one in Poway. What's so wonderful about Corepower is that all the locations I've been to (La Jolla, Poway, Del Mar, Encinitas) is that they keep it consistent. The studio's are really similar in design and they are always clean! The cleanliness and simplicity of the Corepower studios make it so welcoming and appealing. I love that they offer different classes so that you can change it up and they offer classes from early morning to a late 8:30 p.m. class... Perfect. I recently became a "Black Tag Member" and I couldn't be happier! Yes, it's on the pricier side but so worth it. Plus, if you become a member and come occasionally, it makes it really worth it. Classes do get big on the busier hours and even if you come early to find a good spot, most likely you will find yourself frequently having to inch your mat right/left/up/down until the class starts. But it doesn't bother me too much which is why I still give them 5 stars. The staff here are so friendly and accommodating. All the teachers that I've taken class from are all great at what they do... encouraging, inspirational, challenging, and definitely passionate about yoga. I definitely reccomend this studio! If you're NEW, you get a WHOLE week free to try it out. How awesome is that? :) read more

My first experience with Yoga and it has been awesome! I originally started because I am about to turn 50 and needed to change up my workouts to work through a few chronic injuries from years of sports, running, etc... CorePower Yoga has been a huge benefit to my overall fitness level and the mind/body/spirit connection is working for me. Great instructors; dedicated and really supportive for anyone seeking to learn more about Yoga and get some positive affirmation for the day/week! Recommend starting out slow, but if you work out regularly, don't wait long to try out the more advanced C2 classes and longer 75 minutes sessions. A couple of the instructors I think really excel in overall Yogi attitude and dedication for every class include; Kyrie' & Annie O., but I have tried other's too and they all bring a high level of motivation....you have a lot of Yoga instructor options and they each bring a unique style. Mens locker room is always clean and the staff is genuinely interested in hearing about your day. Overall, it has been a great experience and introduction to Yoga! read more
