Greek Chicken Taco with naan bread and tzatziki sauce
    Lauren S.

Amazing and tasty experience as always! These tacos are new so we tried them both very good but wished the price for each one was lower. It's $4.90 for one taco! I got the half lemonade and half water as always as it's refreshing!

    Lots of bases for bowls

This fresh and healthy restaurant is a good choice for someone trying to eat healthy and clean or just trying to avoid junk food. The focus is on real whole scratch made food. They have salad or green bowls, grain bowls, broth bowls, protein power plates, warm rice bowls in what seemed like a lot of combinations. I like that they offer a special of the month and some grain options like quinoa. What I liked: 1) Lots of different choices and menu items to try. I think you can build your own but the staff seemed not too thrilled when I did this. It got the impression they felt more comfortable when you selected one of their standard menu items. I chose to get my sauce or dressing on the side and I think that is a good choice. 2) The juice and iced tea bar is both beautiful and refreshing 3) We enjoyed the special of the month berry, quinoa salad. It was delicious and a good value. What I thought needs improvement 1) The staff seemed under trained and kind of surly. They really did not seem happy about my opting for a non-traditional entree. The manager came out and did not say anything or hello. He was tidying the juice and tea bar. At one point when I was snapping some Yelp photos an employee told me that I did not have to take a shot of the menu there was paper menus to read. 2) They had several types of lettuce types on the day I visited. This seems overload and I would prefer they also offer a larger variety of roasted vegetables rather than the all too popular Brussel sprouts. What about roasted mushrooms or green beans, asparagus? Overall this is a good option for a healthy meal. It is a little pricey but sometimes you have to pay a little more for quality. I would definitely dine here again.

    tuna poke

The food here is pretty fresh.. but a little out of my normal price range. I've come here several times during special offers etc. The several bowls i've had including berry, thai, and tuna poke were overall okay. I think in general they put too much dressing/sauce that overpowers everything else. I had to end up getting the sauce on the side. I'd definitely still come back for the tuna poke as it was pretty good for Peoria, and a steal when they have special offers going on. As far as customer experience goes, the staff is friendy, attentive, and awesome!

Sriracha Ginger Tofu & Ancient Grains

Atmosphere is cool, food selection is wide, display is nice but wasn't too impressed with the taste of the actual food. I got the Spicy Thai and Rice Noodles with tofu and falafel. They didn't season the tofu it was was pre-grilled then just drenched with dressing and the rest of the ingredients in the bowl. The falafel had mich better flavoring than the tofu. My husband got the Sriracha Ginger Tofu and Ancient Grains, his looked a lot better than mine but still said he thinks the concept is great we're just not sure they have perfected "speciality recipes". You can make your own bowl but with SO MANY choices that can be overwhelming. On the plus side, the lemonades and teas were delicious and you can taste test them all before choosing which to pick. We'd go back for a second time but if the second time is like the first I think we'll pass.

The food here was pretty good. First timer. My only concern was that the cashier corrected one of the servers about my meal having too many falafel. First of all, she could have corrected her when all the customers were gone and secondly I had a baby spoonful of hummus and the cashier said I was supposed to get one.....one.....one falafel...are you kidding me!!! There was no other protein. That ladies and gents was disturbing. So big shout out to the server who knows the serving of protein for an adult such as myself rather than think I was an embryo with an undeveloped digestive system.

Instructions for curbside pickup, including they will bring to car

Core Life advertises curbside pickup and has two parking spots by main door for pickup. I phoned when I arrived and was told the order was not yet ready. I waited 22 minutes (just prior to 4 pm - so not a busy time of day) and phoned again. They told me order was ready and I had to come in to get it. I had three kids in car with me, which is why I chose curbside pickup, and the food was cold. I would normally choose to provide feedback to restaurant directly but there is no place to do so on their website. It's a shame because we have enjoyed this restaurant in the past.

14 grams of fat per single serving of beef broth becomes very obvious after refrigeration.

Some hits and some misses so far which is to be expected but I hope those misses can be ironed out soon as I think the menu and concept has a lot of promise! First visit was a to-go order that was a miss when we got home. Both dishes were SWIMMING in their dressings and just overpowered each dish to where we couldn't finish them. I got a small container of the beef bone broth and they might want to think about straining it or renaming it to beef fat broth by the amount of congealed fat that was on the top of the cup after refrigerating all night. Whew, my arteries dodged a bullet by not drinking it fresh. My next visit was an an eating in experience and went quite a bit better. I had learned to say "Very light on the dressing" although that somehow translated to very light on the falafels as I was only given 2 very small pieces on the $5.95 salad. I also tried the tomato soup which was good, you can taste the lack of butter which made me feel good about keeping it healthy. My dining partner tried the steak salad and declared it very good. Perhaps the insanely high decibel club music is meant to keep your heart rate up and also get you out of your seat in a hurry to make room for the next guest? From the decor and menu, I had anticipated more of a folksy/indie vibe but it was definitely the play list from the Electric Daisy Carnival. I do usually like that music but I'm also not normally eating organic greens while it's playing. You do not get a receipt here unless you ask for it which I do appreciate for the environmental impact but does lead to customers standing and waiting needlessly so the cashier could definitely start supplying that detail as she's ringing you up and keep that line moving!

Came here for lunch wanting something a little healthy. I got the Spicy Chicken with Ancient Grain. The ingredients are very fresh and the flavor was amazing! Prices are a little high for what you get. Atmosphere was lively with music and good lighting. Will definitely return to try something else on the menu!

Chicken broth noodle bowl (small) with apple cider+cranberry lemonade.
    Dash H.

The place is very neat and clean. The servers were very hipster. They are helpful and courteous. When i got up to the counter i asked for a small bowl of chicken noodle soup (since i never been here before its only safe to test the water with a small bowl) but when he pulled out a doll-size bowl... for $9... i was shocked. I thought it was a joke. I mean its $3 more for a large bowl why take the chance if i dont like it? And it turns out ... i wasnt impressed with the flavor or taste of the broth. It is very bland . And i mean taste like water. Theres not enough flavor even coming from the chicken and other ingredients in the bowl. I tried added some more salt and hot sauce which helped a bit , but i really do not think its worth $9 for this baby size bowl. 3 spoonfuls and you're pretty much licking from the scraps. It's not very filling ... so i was a bit disappointed. On the flip side, it is healthy food for ya . 3 stars for the flavor and the size of the bowl. The drink that i got almost made me wanna add another star but I don't want to push it . I got the apple cider+green tea. It was really good. U can actually taste the apple cider and its not too sweet, perfect for ppl who hates extremely sweet drinks . I suggest getting the apple cider +gt. My friend got the beef broth noodle steak soup. It tasted better than the chicken, but still didn't impress me. He also tried the spicy thai chicken and rice noodles, along with a korean bbq pork rice bowl. Both were very disappointing. It kinda sucks. I have eaten a lot of thai and Korean, the taste is nowhere near. They kind of messed up the true flavor here. And they're both very pricey... $10.99 each. I didn't get the Wow factor from the food here. I may go again if i have nothing else better to do with my money. Because i would say this place is like an upscale/upgraded salad bar. They're pricey, but its not that good for the price we pay.

Thai chicken with rice noodle bowl. Forgot to take a pic right away so this was after a few bites

She recommended the Cuban Pulled Pork Sandwich. My sandwich was huge and contained a large portion of pulled pork meat. It was delicious and the homemade chipotle bbq mayo made it all the more satisfying with its rich smoky flavor! The Cuban-style black beans were right out of Miami! Very nicely prepared and included green peas, carrots, corn, and bell peppers, as well. My dining companion, for her part, ordered the Falafel platter, with a side order of gyro meat. The falafel (a dozen), were fresh, tasty, and just the right consistency. These were served with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pita, and hummus. The side order of gyro meat featured a generous portion of decadently succulent lamb shavings and included two portions of homemade tzatziki sauce. Everything we ate was prepared to perfection and could easily compete with exceptional restaurants in Chicago! Yes, the food at One World is that good. As for the service, our waitress Quincy was friendly and professional. As for the ambiance and decor--we arrived ahead of the lunch crowd, so it was pretty quiet. The decor, however, is nicely done. The premises were clean and well maintained. Ditto the restrooms. The restaurant is actually huge. There are multiple dining areas and in the summer there is an outside patio behind the restaurant, as well. As for pricing and affordability--quality costs, and the food here is definitely a cut above. That being said, the owners have priced the entrees quite reasonably considering the generous portion-size and quality of the food. My overall opinion? If you want a dining experience worthy of comparison to the best Chicagoland has to offer, but don't want to make the long drive--or pay twice as much--then I highly recommend this little gem of a locally-owned restaurant in Peoria!

Second time coming back we brought the in-laws from our home town in Arizona. Keep in mind we are new here and excited to embrace this new city and all its food places just like this. It was a Tuesday night and they were busy, not so busy that we had to wait for a table, we got right in. The blond girl that was to be our server came to take our drink order. I was on the fence for a few items so I asked the server, "When the cooks in this place get a moment to themselves to enjoy a dish, which is it they usually get?" She assured me without a doubt it was not the burger I was comparing but the duck reuben. Being a fan of both duck and Reuben's I was like, " oh hell yeah, sign me up". So I replied I'll have the Reuben, mom got meatloaf, dad got the burger, wife got the poke bowl. We had a few drinks enjoyed each other's company and then our appetizers came, the cheese curds!! Holy smokes these were legit the star of the evening! If you go I recommend these! Our food came out after and we began to eat. This is the point it went south! The server all but vanished. Usually you can't get a bite in before your asked how is it? Well we needed silverware, napkins, salt and pepper, basic accoutrements. Nobody came. My Reuben..... BORING!! This was the smallest plate of food I've ever seen. The duck was overcooked and dry, there was not a good ratio of slaw to dressing to duck and it was lacked all the way around. I was hoping to ask for some more dressing to bring some life to it but the server never came. Mom wanted salt and pepper for her meatloaf, but the server never came. Finally I was able to get S&P from a busser! The poke bowl was kinda a joke as well, huge bowl of rice and peas and about 3 or 4 small bits of tuna. It was good but not balanced and completely underwhelming. Folks are boomers so yeah considering mom needed to help meatloaf says a lot. But still no server! Finally she came back with the bill. At which point I had to mention that this was by far the WORST Reuben I have EVER had!! She giggled. I said SERIOUSLY, that was wack AF, and you never came back to check on us so I couldn't even attempt a save by dousing it in dressing! She ignored that and disappeared, yup the shitty Reuben was still there on the bull and nobody cared! Moral of the story, you're gonna gamble here. I would love to try again but when you can get a Reuben at One World that blows it out of the water EVERYTIME for a fraction of the price I would second guess giving your money to this business. Bummer, I love the building, I love the ice cream factory throw back! And the ambience is super nice! Service and portioning need a lot more investigation. Hey owner this is your queue!! Make a positive change here.

Review Visit: November 11th, 2014…read more Room and Board in this castle is forever "No Vacancy". Nestled on the corner of a random street in Peoria, you would almost never know this place was here unless you were told about it or randomly drove down the right street. The only way I learned about this place is when I went to pick up my friend Tim one day and accidentally drove a block too far past his house. Tim told me he had been there before and it was pretty good. He said he walked there a few times to get food. I felt betrayed. I felt left out in the cold. As the feeling of betrayal faded, we made plans to go one night. It also happened to be the night Tim was moving. Sometimes we aren't great at planning stuff. We strolled in once we got most of the stuff packed up and loaded in our vehicles. We were greeted by a small yet cozy bar with seating that was just enough for the area. It held maybe 15 comfortably before it would start to feel packed. The bartender told us to take a seat anywhere and she would bring us a menu. In talking with people about Castle's and reading up on it from local online articles, this place is known for it's cheese. We knew that going in, so we ordered some crackers and cheese. This may be the first and only place that serves Ritz-style crackers to go along with their legendary cheese. There is always some hesitation when you are about to try something a place is well-known for. That happened here. Tim and his brother wasted no time digging in to the cheese and crackers. I grabbed my cracker and contemplated on how I was going to dip it, how much I was going to scoop and how big of a bite I was going to take. Okay, maybe that didn't happen but I did take that first bite rather slowly as I wanted to fully dedicate my taste buds to what I was about to experience. The cheese was good. I can see why people raved about it. It had a bit of that "made with love" added to it that your grandma's cookies also have. And before I knew it, the cheese and crackers were gone and the food we ordered was in front of us. I don't remember exactly what I ordered (looks like a pulled pork?) but I remember thinking it was pretty standard bar food, which is a compliment in my book. Bar food is cheap, usually 150% unhealthy for you, and full of flavor and deliciousness. Castle's Patio Inn was that. The fries were fries. Nothing fancy but something that I bet would be good dipped in the cheese. We didn't really get to experience the bar part of Castle's but that is totally fine. You can come here and sit at the bar and converse with the bartender about life's many issues or you can snag a table with your family for some cheap bar food and some exquisite cheese. Americans. We sure do love our cheese.

But I've heard that they're cheese is amazing. They have done a couple of pop-ups, that were pretty amazing. The one chef that did a hotdog pop up was able to make me a vegan salad which tasted divine and I wish I could have it again great neighborhood atmosphere

We ended up staying there talking for a couple of hours to catch up, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. While there are lots of great options on the menu, both of us chose the BPT - Breaded Pork Tenderloin. I've eaten a lot of breaded pork tenderloins in my time, but none like this one. The usual approach is super thin and huge, making the bun look tiny. While this one wasn't much larger than the bun, it was at least an inch thick, so it was more like eating a fried pork chop sandwich, but with the meat tenderized. The meat was well-seasoned and very flavorful, and the crust was extra-crispy and crunchy. The Honey-Lime sauce (one of three sauces brought to each table along with Ranch and Tyler's Sauce) is delicious and worked great with the pork. Fries were good, as was the cole slaw (which had a nice kick from some very freshly-ground black pepper). And I'm always happy when a place has Guinness on tap.

From the get go the atmosphere was great, there was a short queue (but it was a Friday night, so it's to be expected), but we were quickly shown to our table. Our server was Connor, who was great from the start and was very flexible with our large group who had a few dietary preferences/requirements. One of our favorite things about the menu is the focus on utilizing local businesses and serving their products. As most locals know Bill's Lemon Shake Ups are a staple in the region so when I saw that on the menu I had to go for that, and with multiple flavor choices I was excited to try. I ended up settling for the tenderloin sandwich, but I was certainly interested to try a lot of the menu. The amount of pork was HUGE and it was flavorful and paired with the honey lime sauce it was a 10/10! The bun alone was phenomenal, and I couldn't recommend this meal enough if you are a schnitzel or tenderloin fan! That sauce is definitely a star of the show, paired with the sweet heat seasoning available at the table next to the S&P the meal was the perfect combination of sweet, spice and tasty! Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well and there was little left by the end. The nachos were customized to account for a dietary preference so this is not the standard, however they were delicious and a huge portion. The pizza was thin crust and was excellent too, so no notes across the board. Thanks once again to Connor for accommodating us and being so patient with our party. You can also purchase any of the three major sauces that they have in house, so I proceeded to buy the honey lime which we'll be enjoying for the next few weeks, if it makes it that long!

Not real busy, but I did notice that there seemed to be several "Door Dash" pickups while we ate dinner. We had good service. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered 1/2 rack ribs (4 stars), 1/2lb Brisket (3 1/2 stars), Brunswick stew (4 1/2 starts), and Chili Con Carnie (5 stars). The house made barbecue sauce was the highlight of the meal (5 Stars). The ribs were very good and fell off the bone. The sauce made them exceptional. Brisket was tasty, but a little dry for my wife's liking. In hindsight, we probably should have ordered the brisket "chopped". The waitress indicated that the "chopped" brisket was more "fatty". The Chili Con Carnie was very very good. Not something that you see at a Barbeque place often. I highly recommend. The key lime pie was very tasty and better than what you get at most places. Although not quite exceptional. Worth a try though. Overall, we liked the Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern. Great location and lots of character. Very good ribs, excellent homemade barbeque sauce.
