Great place to check out when visiting the Schoodic peninsula and having lunch in the wharf

This place must be a local treasure. Our airbnb host recommended this and I liked everything about it from the casual outdoor seating, the friendliest staff and most importantly, the freshest Lobster. I would choose the Lobster Roll here, among those in Bar Harbour. The toasted bun held just the right amount of lobster pieces. And it was so good. You can just chill and check out the stacks of lobster traps that lined part of the deck, while waiting for your bun of happiness. I tried their whoopee pie that seemed larger than most, and that was good, too; their blueberry pie was also good. I haven't met a blueberry pie around here that I didn't like. A busy place. You order first by the cashier and choose a table of your choice. No matter what you get, I don't think you'd be disappointed. read more

Mount Desert Island is full of seafood places which do a mediocre job at high prices with a trying-too-hard atmosphere. In the very best way, Corea Wharf Gallery's restaurant is the opposite of that. The prices are very reasonable, the seafood is as fresh as it can be (you can see the boats it came in on!) and the atmosphere is unbeatable for a casual spot. Our family ordered almost everything on the menu, it seemed, and we loved everything. This included: the crab roll, the lobster roll, crab legs, the chowder, the BLT, raw oysters and amazing blueberry pie. We had blueberry pie on many occasions throughout our one week stay on MDI, and no place matched this pie. It had the perfect balance of not too sweet but just sweet enough and high quality crust. We initially got one piece to share among the family, and ended up going back for a second slice during the same seating because all of us wanted more. Now if that's not a testament to how good it was, nothing is. I'll be dreaming about our amazing lunch on their dock for years to come... read more

Our Air BnB owner sent us here. It was lovely. One of our favorite meals in the area. We got to meet and talk to the owner. He has recently expanded his dock. We had the crab, lobster rolls and a lobster. The cole slaw wasn't my favorite but my father and husband liked it. They also have ice cream and my father enjoyed the blueberry. Plenty of shade is available. We would love to come back here if in the area. They also have rope mats for sale at a reasonable cost. Bathrooms are clean port a potties. read more

My favorite experience on my whole trip coming to Acadia National Park! When visiting Schoonic Peninsula, the park ranger shared this gem for lunch. It is less than 30 min away and he described it as "food truck meets the wharf". It is very casual eating on a wharf overlooking a quaint inset and the wharf is amongst the lobster cages on both sides. The food is great, my husband had the lobster dinner and I had my first lobster roll, the meat succulent and the roll toasty and crunchy. Personally I like to get away from the crowds and tourist attractions and today's lunch was perfect to meet both those goals, with good food and a great setting that really gave this our of towner the Maine experience I was looking for. Be aware they are only open for lunch and have limited hours. read more

Love the location and outdoor seating. Beautiful view of the protected harbor with lots of boats. They have umbrellas on some tables and others have the white tarp like covering to protect you from wind and rain. It's all about paper napkins, plastic-ware, and ketchup/mayo in the little squirty packages. Staff was very friendly. We shared the Lobster Roll and Haddock Chowder ($32 total with tax and tip). The Lobster Roll was typical of what we've had at other restaurants. It was made with a decent amount of fresh, sweet lobster on a toasted bun. It came with one side and we opted for potato chips (Miss Vickies) which were fine. The Haddock Chowder was disappointing. It is a broth type chowder not thick which is ok. The downside was the contents. It was 90% large chunks of potatoes with a couple of small pieces of haddock floating around. We had to fish (pun intended) around to find any. Maybe we just got a bad ladle full but it was like potato soup with a whiff of haddock. They don't serve alcohol but we were told (by the place we stayed) that you can bring your own. We'd come back but would steer clear of the chowder. read more

Nice hidden gen for those traveling! This is a nice, and fairly inexpensive spot to wat at with delicious food. We ordered oyster and grilled cheese lobster, crab, and pulled pork sandwiches for the family. The hogwash sauce for the oyster was excellent and so were the sandwiches. The staff were all very kind and had a nice atmosphere. Would totally recommend! read more

After a day exploring Schoodic peninsula by e-bike (highly recommend) we took the advice of a fellow cyclist and headed north about 20 minutes to the town of Corea for "Lunch on the wharf". They are open Mon-Sat, 11-3. When you pull into this sleepy harbor town follow the hand drawn signs to their parking lot. You will find few dining locations in Maine with a more picturesque setting. As for the food, well it's your typical lobster shack fare and you place your order at the end of the wharf as you come in. The dining area was clean and the food was delivered promptly to our table soon after we ordered. We can testify that the lobster roll was more than adequate and the haddock chowder was excellent. Also the blueberry pie was very good. But above all, the staff were just terrific. Real Maine people serving real Maine food in a fantastic setting. read more

I don't give that many five-star reviews, but this little gem more than deserves it! I was in Lamoine, Maine for a week-long sisters' trip and poured through the massive amount of literature on the area. I saw this restaurant and my sister was jonesing for a lobster roll, so we took off for a road trip. It was a beautiful drive as the leaves were just turning and soon we were in Corea. Don't blink when you get there or you'll miss the gravel driveway entrance (there's an ice cream cone at the road pointing the way right before the curve). You kind of park on the gravel and wander in with the owner and workers ready to take your order. I chose the lobster ($19.95, kids, an amazing $19.95 for what you get). My sisters got the haddock chowder and lobster roll along with the coleslaw (which I loved). Sisters loved their chowder and the lobster roll. My skinny sister almost went back for another lobster roll because it was so amazing. We talked her out of it and instead got blueberry vanilla ice cream for all - a huge scoop of deliciousness. The star of this meal was the lobster. Boiled to perfection, it only bothered me for a minute that it was staring at me. The lobster meat was perfect - soft, sweet, easy to get out of the little guy, and served with butter. Perfection. I was only sad that any lobster I have after this won't measure up. I sacrificed two bites of it so my sisters could enjoy it, too, and they did indeed. The owner came by to make sure all was well and told us a brief history of Corea (named after Korea, but changed to a C. Did you know originally Korea was spelled with a C, but after a Japanese invasion, they didn't want it to come alphabetically ahead of them, do they changed it to a K...? That's what he told me, so I'm believing it. :) The view was terrific, it was cool and beautiful and we had a wonderful time and delicious lunch. Avoid the tourist crunch of Mount Desert/Bar Harbor and make the trip to this beautiful coastal restaurant. read more

While driving around aimlessly in the Acadia area we happened upon this tiny restaurant on the wharf. When we pulled in we were warmly greeted by the staff and owner. We bought a lobster roll, lobster grilled cheese, and a side of potato salad. The lobster roll was the best we had in the area and the grilled cheese sandwich was incredible. The potato salad was also delicious but we were a bit dissapointed that we paid almost $3 for a tiny serving. In the end we enjoyed not only the food but the ambience and art gallery. We just wish we had service to check-in so that we could have used our Yelp coupon. That being said, the next time we visit the area we will be making a stop at this amazing little restaurant. read more

The lobster rolls have three times as much lobster as some places and was excellent... It's just lobster in a bun. No lettuce, etc... I had their Haddock chowder which was a creamy potato and fish filled concoction. I recommend it. Some friendly folks at the table next to ours had the lobster dinner. It looked great. Their blueberry pie is fantastic. As good as it gets. They are selling live lobster for $5 per pound. That's much better than the $8 we just paid down the road... They have picnic tables on the wharf. Great view of the boats and fishermen. I highly recommend a visit for lunch if you are in the area. We went back today 7/21/16, for the crab claws. Great! Glad I tried this... No frills just good food. We had our second serving of blueberry pie, and still think it's as good as it gets. Also picked up two lobsters for $5 per pound. They will be dinner tonight. If you are anywhere nearby and enjoy eating great seafood while sitting on a dock next to the boats... You really owe it to yourself to try this place out. read more

We were driving through the area while on vacation and saw a sign stating that there was a special -- "food at the wharf today", so we decided to investigate. This is an extremely small town so we didn't have to go far to find a charming little restaurant right on the water. We picked a nice spot up front on the deck so we could watch the boats in the harbor and placed our order. We had our fill of lobster rolls lately so we decided to try something new. On a drizzly September afternoon, my husband and I took a break from our rambling drive to check out Corea Wharf Gallery. What a delight! It was very quiet as we were off season and the weather was a bit gray - but a few locals were just finishing their lunches as we arrived. The owner - a life long LobsterMan featured in the New York Times - chatted us up as we ordered a repast of boiled lobster, crab roll, and a bowl of haddock chowder. He was so lovely - like a friend welcoming you into their home. While my husband and I aren't much for sweets, we almost got a whoopie pie as he was so enthusiastic about them. The food was great. My chowder was sensational - creamy and brothy and simple with but morsels of fish. Delicious. My husband ordered the crab roll (we're not usually big on lobster/crab rolls because of so much bread) and we were amazed at the savory rich flavor of the crab. It was perfect. My lobster - plucked frisky from the tank before my eyes (sorry buddy) - was one of the best I've had. And I have had many. If you are in the area, you would do yourself a disservice if you didn't stop in. For such a small place, they have a really varied menu - and the little gallery is a great glimpse into local history! read more

What a find. We had just finished going through the schoodic region of Acadia national park and wanted a lobster roll. Found this and we couldn't resist! Best and freshest lobster roll we've had in Maine. My husband had the oysters which he said were the best he's had as well. Let me start by saying I'm not a super fan of a lobster roll unless I make it. It's just not my thing and I do love lobster. Let me follow by saying I had a very incredible lobster roll today here at the Wharf in Corea, ME. We love the drive there and love sitting on the deck. They have a small menu (I thought I would get a fish sandwich - but none were to be had) and so I relented and got the lobster roll as did my husband. Wow! They were excellent! Ordered with a side of potato salad which was just very simple but good. Lots of sweet and juicy lobster, not drowned in mayo, and the buns were nice and grilled toasty with a bit of butter. The staff is so friendly, prices are quite decent and we love the spot. This is a worth-the-drive place to go especially if you've never been over to the Schoodic peninsula. read more

This was our second time here. We'd hoped to have a relaxing lunch but got called on an emergency and had to get takeout. We both got lobster rolls which were promptly made and packaged up and ate them 30 minutes later. The rolls were still delightfully crispy and were overflowing with wonderful lobster meat lightly tossed in mayo. The potato salad though small was good. The blueberry pie was to die for. This magical stop had friendly staff and a fabulous menu. The choices make it hard to pick just one item. The classic red hotdog was cooked to perfection, very juicy. If your looking for lobster this is the right place to be. The lobster grilled cheese was a nice change of speed from a lobster roll, but don't worry the lobster roll was also incredible! This lobster roll was the best we had during our visit to Maine. It is hard to pick between baked beans, Coleslaw, and potato salad so we had one of each. Out of the three I suggest the baked beans and coleslaw. This place was so beautiful and picturesque! I will be dreaming of it often as I leave this wonderful state. read more

Quintessential small lobster shack right on the water. Lobster and lobster roll were both excellent. Great outdoor seating in between piers that are stacked with lobster trap. Only thing from preventing a 5 star is it is very pricey relative to other similar spots. Ex lobster roll $24 as opposed to a place close by at $17. Highly recommend place to visit. read more

Wow wow and wow! Way off the beaten path, but well worth the trip! I've been reading about this place on multiple websites for quite some time and have been looking forward to visiting. Finally the moment has come and I have arrived with a full wallet and an empty belly. Game on! The menu is simple and straightforward. But I was here for one thing, seafood and lots of it. Lobster, lobster roll, crab claws and even some hotdogs and steak sandwiches but I will leave that for the kids. I ordered the complete lobster dinner which came with a 1 1/4 pound lobster perfectly steamed full of delicious and salty rich meat. The dinner comes complete with the lobster a choice of your side, I recommend potato salad as well as one drink all for the low low price of $15. I also ordered the crab claws. A very generous serving of six Stone crab claws cracked and peeled along with the knuckles, and a tasty dipping sauce. A real bargain at only $9. The food was delicious and the view was spectacular! I'm so glad I made it here before they close for the season. They are generally open Memorial Day through Labor Day from 11 AM to 5 PM. Make sure you get here before they close. read more

Stopped in here today, just before they closed for the day. I did kind of expect to be rushed to put our order in, but I was pleasantly greeted. We were shown the menu boards and ordered. I had the lobster roll with baked beans and a cup of haddock chowder. My wife had the same, but with a crab roll. For dessert, 2 slices of blueberry pie. As well e were staying close by, we elected to make it a takeout dinner and let these people get home. The rolls were each outstanding, no strong seasoning to take away from the lobster or the crab! The beans and chowder were also good, but a bit cool by the time he got home. Nothing a short spin in the microwave couldn't handle. My wife ate here blueberry pie and said it was very good, I will savor mine later! The place is very scenic and what you would expect from a small picturesque village on the ocean. I even got a short history lesson, when I ask how the town got it's name. What a great treasure this place has. Can't wait to go back. Definitely worth the trip to get to. read more

What a beautiful and unexpected little place! Staying in Corea for the first time I didn't think it had too much to offer that wasn't hiking related. This was a great and not too expensive place! They give you a lot of lobster for the crab rolls, unfortunately I didn't see the option of a baked lobster meal that comes with a side and a drink for only $15 until as I was leaving :(. Can't get any fresher seafood anywhere! The lobster roll meat was sweet and delicious. The owner is great, he walks around the dock checking on everyone making pleasant conversation. It seems everyone in Northern costal Maine or Down East only works a half day ( I'm just jealous) so get there before they close at 4pm. read more
