Core Fitness is a terrific boutique gym. The facility is very clean and is a nice environment. They offer TRX, Barre, Bells & Bags, Pilates Mat and Pilates Reformer classes; I have yet to try the latter. (It costs more, if they have a special I may give it a whirl). They have a convenient app to sign up for classes.
Checking out this gym is not as easy as walking in and talking to someone at the front desk, unless you hit it right, as nobody is around when there are no classes, so you must reach the owners via email or call/text them, their phone number is on the window or on-line, of course, and they are responsive.
The 4:30 TRX class was my first two (2) classes, while the instructors are really good, as a newbie to TRX, I was very intimidated, not knowing what it is all about (I was afraid to lean forward!), and not realizing the class I was in is one of the more strenuous TRX classes, as the 5:30 session is a bit easier (This is not noted in the class description) it would have been better had I attended the 5:30 class first, as a beginner, or better yet a basics class they offer. Hopefully, I can survive the 4:30 classes, as the time slot is best for me. (Wish me luck!) ---As a follow up: Today, I attended the Bells & Bags/TRX class, taught by both Randy and Jessica, the owners, and, boy, are they good at what they do! (I hope you are lucky enough to hit a class they teach together, they make a great pair!) They are both highly knowledgeable about fitness! They keep a close watch to make sure everyone's form is right. The exercises are widely varied working many muscle groups. All the instructors are very accommodating to your level of fitness. You won't get bored in the classes offered.
Now onto the barre class, which is a cross between yoga, Pilates and ballet, with Jillian: Wow! This instructor is amazing!!! The class has the perfect pace-though right when it starts, don't expect to ease into it, she gets your heart rate up pretty fast. The exercises are explained and demonstrated very well. She has a calming voice with the perfect inflection to get you through the entire count, and she talks just enough. She holds you in the poses for the perfect amount of time. If you are not in the proper form (I know this first-hand...ha!) she will gently guide you to the correct position without embarrassing you in front of the other students. She also offers modified exercises, depending on one's fitness level or body issue, like cranky knees. Props are used, which keeps it interesting and offers resistance training and such. This class is pretty intense, yet somehow the time goes fast; you come out of this class feeling good for all that you accomplished.
I would recommend this gym for your fitness future! read more
