I can't say enough positive things about Cordell's! Stopped in for lunch and left feeling knowledgeable about teas, oils, and balsamic vinegars! Loved sampling the different combinations of oils and vinegars, while having an amazing lunch to boot! Friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely be back when I'm in Abilene again next summer!

Cordell's did the salad for the Farm to Table event in Abilene. It was absolutely amazing! I can hardly wait to try the bistro menu.

The chicken salad sandwich with a side salad was a great tasting lunch. The service was awesome and the ambiance was ok.

Casual. We sat at the bar and our bartender was amazing! He was funny and attentive despite being very busy! Service: The restaurant was so busy with diners even at 8:30 PM on a Saturday evening. I did not expect it to be this busy in my head. My husband and I sat at the bar since that was open seating and there were no sit down tables available inside or on the patio. The restaurant will add you to the waitlist if you'd like! Food: My husband and I shared the deviled eggs appetizer, and "the burger" with grilled jalapeños and pepper jack cheese. The deviled wggs (satan's huevos) were good, and spicy because we chose the "hellfire" option. The burger was huge! I'm glad my husband I split it because there was no way I'd finish that burger on my own! We both left content and not stuffed.

We looked at the menu online prior to coming and knew that we both wanted to try the cheese steak, so this was a bit of a bummer. They waitress who was very attentive told us that we can't order from the full menu for another 30 minutes so we decided to wait rather than leave. Listen, I get it the idea of having a different menu for brunch, but why not post it on your website and state the specific times for each menu? Also, what difference does 30 minutes make? They couldn't fire up the grill 30 minutes early? It wasn't very busy. Anyways, now for the good part: When we were finally allowed to order our sandwiches they were absolutely amazing. The steak was high quality and the gooey cheese had a ton of flavor. What wasn't amazing however was the bill. $20 for a sandwich and a small portion of fries in Abilene is absolute insanity. What's even crazier is we were charged extra for a side of ranch! I understand you get what you pay for, and there's no arguing the quality of the sandwich was top notch, but at the end of the day it's still just a sandwich. If you're good with dropping nearly $60 (including tip) on lunch, then this is your spot. For me, I'll take my business elsewhere.

It would be like if you combined the Westin with a dude ranch with a Michelin restaurant. My group was there in January, so as you can see from the pictures, it was very dry/ brown, but im sure in the spring/summer it is gorgeous and green. The rooms are well appointed; the sunsets gorgeous. They have a lovely community porch/lookout area where you can sit wine or coffee and just soak in the scenery. They also have a community fridge for guests to utilize. There is a Nespresso in every room, as well as filtered water. They also have some very sweet farm animals (donkeys, horse, dog) that you can play with and pet. My only complaint about the rooms is that the showers have low water pressure. I assume this is b/c they are on different infrastructure than an "in the city" hotel. Not a big deal to most people, but i have long thick hair and so like strong water pressure to wash my hair quickly. As for the restaurant, it reminds me of a friendlier, more texas version of French Laundry (the famous restaurant in the Napa Valley area). There is a fixed menu of 5 courses, all of which were very tasty!! I would have liked bigger portions, but the quality was great. I greatly enjoyed the food, the other guests, and the nice but not invasive wait staff. The staff largely leaves you alone, so make sure to expect that when you stay here. They are not constantly bugging you or checking up on you. If you are looking for a lovely country getaway, do make the trip out to Coleman, TX, and spend a night or two at Ranch Loma!

Robert led us to our gorgeous king room where the most delicious yuzu margaritas, prepared by Laurie were waiting for us. We enjoyed relaxing with our drinks before dinner, taking in the beautiful landscape and visiting with the other guests. There are several very comfortable (and stylish) outdoor seating areas. Really, everything at Rancho Loma is comfortable (and stylish). Dinner was 5-courses of PERFECTION. I brought wine and my hubby brought a couple of bottles of beer which were kept cool until he was ready for them. Hubby was super impressed with the little pilsner glass with orange zest that Robert brought to the table for his beer. When I asked for bread, the waitress brought 2 freshly warmed slices drizzled with olive oil. (It's all about the little touches, you know.) I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite course, so I'll say it was a toss-up between the Lasagna Bolognese and the Akaushi strip steak. This was the first steak I've had in 8 months and boy was it worth it!! For breakfast, Laurie whipped up the best huevos rancheros in the world. SO fresh & delicious! I really cannot recommend Rancho Loma enough. Service, food & the accommodations were all A++. Robert and Laurie have created something truly special and we can't wait to return again!

I forgot to take a picture this time. My friend is not a leftover person, but he took his leftover steak fingers with him and also ordered slice of buttermilk pie to go. Our waitress was a sweetheart. I forgot her name, believe short young lady with black hair. Forgive me for not remembering her name, but she was wonderful and very helpful for any questions my friend had. Did notice someone ordered I believe cheese curds and did not know they had these. And I usually stop at the place across the highway. Today I decided to check out New York Hill and I was glad I did. The ambience is like being in a house that had its living room converted to a dining room- which it may very well have been. I'm not sure. Regardless, there are booths and tables, and a nice view to the north. All good. I was greeted by a nice young lady who took my drink order (coffee) and brought a menu. I liked they served the coffee in a thermal mug as it stayed hot! The menu was extensive, plate lunches, burgers, sandwiches, salads... a bit of everything. The dishes were typical of what we call "home cooking" around these parts. I ordered the Texas Sizzler- a chop steak with onions and jalapeños, smothered in melted cheese. It was quite delicious, and since we just had our first cold snap for the fall, it really hit the spot as a dish that will warm you up. The salad that came with the meal was very good, and had a nice chunky blue cheese dressing. Crinkle cut sweet potato's fries were good, as was the pinto beans. There are lots of other sides to choose from. Overall, everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and they. Checked on me often. Bottom line is I will be back to try some of their other offerings.
