Corcoran state prison... it would be nice if staff was real and did they jobs. being on auto pilot thinking one is the same as the next prisoner is so backwards. staff would rather lie and play games instead of working with the ones that have plans in place to meet goals. this facility is labeled a rehab but yet they don't act with the inmates in a lock up about the ones that are trying to they get some kind of assistance and some kind of respect can't wait for this to change eyes are all on you cause I'm only one that's speaking up and there's many more behind me read more

I can honestly say if you go to prison to visit love ones you don't know what to expect..I can say that the staff at this facility made me feel very welcomed and happy to be able to see my LO without alot of issues I appreciate them for all they do and making myself and my son feel invited read more

Giving a prison 5 stars is absolutely nuts but for what it's worth driving 3 hours and having a easy process to see your loved ones means everything & the officers make it very easy & actually are pretty nice . Add some air conditioning in those visitations ! read more

As with my other review of Delano Prison (North Kern State Prison), I am giving this facility 3-Stars since there were no major issues I faced as a visitor to this facility and I wouldn't feel quite right by giving 4-Stars & saying, "Yay! I'm a fan." Although I have never been incarcerated here or any other prison or jail or state institution ever, I have been the "visitor" for an 18+/-month period. Basically, read Frank L.'s review. He's a straight shooter and pretty much tells you all you need to know before you make the drive to Corcoran. Also check the website yourself for reassurance. I always made an appointment so I was already on the visitation list prior to arriving and just in case visitation was cut short for some reason or another. Appointments seemed to have priority. Trust me, it's so much easier (and better) that way just in case you have a long drive back home after a possible stressful and emotionally draining situation. To make your life easier: Wear comfy and simple clothing that's wire-free (i.e., wire-free bras, no belts, watches, sunglasses; no metal in your shoes, etc.). You don't want to set off the metal detector and delay your visit. You want your visit to go as smooth as possible. I never wore any jewelry, any other unnecessary accessories or clothing. I would suggest to just bring your paperwork, photo I.D., car keys and money for the vending machine with you and leave everything else out in your car. I guess there really isn't much to say, it's a prison I guess depending on what Yardy room may differ from the staff that you are appointed but overall at the end of the day it's still a prison so expect prison mentality all through this place and any other Prison you may possibly visit. The LVNs here are hit and miss. Some are really really good at their job. Others I can see how they ran to a union just to keep a job.

The SATF side makes for a smoove legal visit. There are parking spaces close to the entrance. The staff is polite and professional. Bathrooms conveniently located before the metal detector. Special kudos to Sgt. Carrasco, who always has our paperwork and escort ready. (Sorry for stealing your pen.) Litigation coordinator Moreno is a quick responder and has gotten us in at the last minute. 10/10 will visit often! read more

Not a whole lot of info here on visiting, so let me share my experience. I came here last month to visit one of my good friends. First time ever visiting an inmate and resources online and website are very limited. Here's what you need to know after filling out forms and getting approval. There are two entrances to the prison depending on where the inmate is housed. My friend was housed in SATF, the entrance was through the back side of the prison. Now, things to know before making the trip here. There is not much in Corcoran, the town has a small handful of markets and gas stations. One mcdonalds and one taco bell, 4 motels. I tried booking a motel in Corcoran and for whatever reason, the room was not available the weekend I came down. Which in hindsight was a good thing. I had to stay at the budget inn on a Friday and the whole room smelled like ripe ass. All the other motels in the area were booked and the service people there sucked. They were all rude eastern indians. There is a town called Tulare that is about 20/30 minutes away. Worth it! I stayed at a Motel 6, the room was 15 bucks cheaper and was right next door to a very good diner. There was plenty of restaurants in the area and better hotels/motels. Now as far as visiting goes, unless you call the prison or book an appointment in advance online, visiting hours are from 12pm to 2:30 pm Sat and Sunday. It says 8am online but thats only avaiable if you make an appointment. Get there like an hour early, check with the front guard and make sure you are at the right entrance than wait on the side of the street, They open the gates exactly at noon and there will be a line of cars looking to visit their loved ones as well. Also note, there is more than one tower, make sure you are at the right tower. Sucks to wait for 40 mins and find out you are on the wrong tower, and have to leave, drive out to the next tower and wait again. The list of what not to wear is somewhat clear, no blue shirts or blue jeans. No green/olive color pants no camo color pants. Sweat pants, black jeans, gray jeans seem to be popular. Though it was not on the list, I was not allowed to go in with my Chuck taylors. Keep some flip flop in the cars in case and also have some extra shirts or pants in the car. Leave all your shit in the car, and lock your car. Most likely I doubt anybody would be that dumb to break into a car here but hide your shit and lock it up anyways. What you can bring, One car key and remote. Your ID and bring a ziplock bag with less than 50 dollars. Best to bring it in all 5 dollar bills. Jewelry is questionable, I've seen woman with ear rings, watches though it clearly says not to bring anything online. No wallet no phone nothing else. Change the money to coin dollars, you will need these to use the vending machines inside visiting. They have food, drinks and ice cream in visiting. Also buy some tokens, you will need these should you want to have your photo taken with the inmate. Staff is pretty friendly throughout and helpful, just follow the rules and it should be pretty smooth. Hope you have a good visit! read more

I had never been to central California and this looked like a beautiful, all-inclusive resort. When I checked in I asked for a room with a view. I didn't get that. I was rather rudely rushed to a very small room that had bars instead of a normal door. I thought it odd. I brought lots of nice clothes but they have a strict dress code so I couldn't wear anything I brought. Thoughtfully they provided me with a wardrobe. Nice touch. The included meals weren't anything special. I was hoping for more high end dishes. But they were nourishing and filling. I didn't like many people there. Lots of them seemed mean with an attitude. Especially my neighbor, Mr. Manson. He was most unpleasant. Softball was fun. No nightlife at all. As a matter of fact they turn out the lights and make you go to bed really early. Anyway, acceptable food, fun softball games, but not much else to recommend. I'll be checking La Resort de San Quentin next. read more

Well were I begin...I finally broke out of this place just to write this. I must say that the living conditions were not favorable, three men to a room with the light that never turns off. The staff there treats you with no respect and and watches your back in the shower. They force you to work for a measly $0.67 an hour. On the up side you get feed three times a day for free. The other people who vacation here are very aggressive and easily prone to confrontations. I have tried filing several suggestions with management and was bluntly told "you get what you pay for"... how rude! If I could give this less then 1 star I would. Weirdly enough people misteresly get hurt very badly in the bathroom and it's not uncommon for them to die. Activities include but not limited to: group riots, communal showers, card games, push-ups, burpies, push-ups, long extents in your underwear and no bedding, quite time to yourself when you have a disagreement, and so much more... I could go on and on and would only say that I wouldn't recommend this place for your next extended get away. read more
