The library shares a new building with the City Council. It's a nice, quiet respite from the sun and heat. The high ceiling adds to the airiness of the space. There are the usual reference services, study rooms, children section and a special collection devoted to local history. The adult space is under stated and relaxing. The children section sports similar color scheme. A few accent colors there will make it more welcoming to younger kids.

A neat library. Could use more comfortable seating an creative decor. A little bland

I value libraries too much to give bad star reviews, but I also want to complain a bit. My friend…read moreand I drove two hours in the morning to get some stray kittens neutered in Porterville. We arrived very tired, but still read while we waited to pick up the kittens. Dozed off for maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and a staff member came up to wake us up and warned us not to fall asleep in the library. There were folks with open cans of soda and sandwiches the table over; I don't know why she felt the need to give a friendly reminder to us specifically, and I had never heard of such a rule in any library. Anyhow, I think Pepsi is a bigger danger to books than putting your head down for a quick nap. I am glad it's there regardless. The Instagram page is cute, and the resources/events they plan look beneficial. I thought the kids' section looked well-stocked and much more diverse than I had grown up seeing.

The landmark library we had my whole life until it was set on fire by some juveniles and tragically…read morewe lost two firefighters in the fire was wonderful. This temporary library hopefully will be a hub for families and not a hang out for transients like you see already outside because they moved the location to a shopping area that has transients there daily because of the bus stop and health clinic within walking distance. The outside does not depict the previous library but has a grammatically incorrect sign and color scheme that is not conducive to a library but matches the WIC or Welfare buildings. I really hope the permanent library will resemble the beautiful library we had before the fire with a spot for genealogy like they had upstairs and the area for students to work and clubs to meet. It was a hub for the community and met so many various needs from the wee ones to the elderly and always was clean.

I was treated wonderfully by the male Staff probably because…read moreI was the only white female they had seen under the age of 50 in months. Kinda creepy. I also was treated awful by any female staff. The front gate guy on weekends is super kind and very helpful. I commend him for maintaining such a level of professionalism while not being a butthead like most of the others inside the visitor center. Speaking of which, the little trailer outside where they send you if they feel threatened by the wire in your bra (or even better, your size a tits under a jacket with a slight hint nipple to be discovered by the ferociously deprived inmates) there is a nice Asian woman who won't speak English but is great with a pair of scissors. (They have a free bra wire removing service for your convenience.) the Hispanic man with his hair always jelled back nicely that works in the reception visiting center who tells you which window to go to isn't so much social, but kind nonetheless. He gets his job done without making you feel like a criminal. He also plays decent music (except during the holidays which I'm sure is against his will.) as far as the person who was residing there, he says 2.5/5 and he went to CMC to solitary confinement after because of the failure of his counselor to see him for 6 months at wasco and gave them a 3.9.
