This place has become genuinely mediocre in the last few years. Their baked goods can be really good, but in the last year have also been hard and stale. There are definitely better places to go for gelato and coffee in Little Italy, so the baked goods were really all I was going for. Unfortunately, Presti's is just better at doing the same thing. Up until my recent visit to Corbo's, I didnt think any other bakery made a better canolli than Ferrara's in NYCs Little Italy. Now, I have found their rival in Corbo's. I like baked goods, I really do. As much as I moderate and watch the portions on the sweet, delicious treats, I am a sucker for high quality baked treats! So it is no mistake, with the help of yelp, that Corbo's was a must-visit place while I visit Cleveland. Situated in the heart of Little Italy, Corbo's roots show and its neat, clean storefront is impeccable. I don't understand the signficance of the Godfather theme they have going on, with the "Leave the gun, take the cannoli," on the door, but I will go with it. The place is spacious and has some seating near the doors. You'll be greeted by all the treats to your left, along with the helpful staff. To the right, they have some other culinary goods like Corbo's homemade pasta sauce, pasta, etc. There is so much selection! Make sure you know what you want because you will be standing for a bit just trying to decide. We went with some petit fours (extremely sweet!), coconut macaroons, cannoli, and tiramisu. The smaller treats were delicious and gone instantly, like take a picture and by the time your review it on your camera and it's gone. I had never had tiramisu, nor cannoli before, but on both accounts Corbo's made me a believer. I can only hope that future establishments I frequent will produce this quality. Again, I don't get the Godfather theme with this place; But Corbo's Bakery is going to make you some baked goods you can't refuse. read more

Visited Little Italy and this pastry place seemed prominent. They entrance sports a famous line from "The Godfather" movie to do with Cannolis. I ordered one with coffee. I loved the crust and the cream sauce within it. I am not sure what the special ingredient in it was. It tasted like Cinnamon that made the difference. Sooo.....my husband's 42nd birthday was yesterday and his favorite cake is the italian cassata strawberry and custard cake with whipped cream icing. Last year, I tried ordering it from a well known supermarket and they failed in taste. It was a poor knock off version that left us both hugely disappointed, especially since we had asked the baker if she knew what a cassata cake was and she acknowledged yes and failed. This year, I made it my duty to find the right cassata cake for my husband. I googled cassata cakes in Cleveland and Corbos came up. After reading the reviews I decided to make the call. I spoke with a young lady on the phone who took my order at 10:14AM for a 2PM pick up. I had arrived closer to 3PM because of all the construction. When I arrived and gave her my name, she remembered me. I ended up telling her about my horrible experience with trying to get a cassata cake made last year with a major supermarket. As a result, I told her that if my husband liked their version of the cake, she'd see me every year as a loyal customer, not just for his cake, but for mine as well. As a consumer, I believe that presentation is everything and that when a person bakes from their heart with passion, it will shine through with the presentation and taste. Well, when she brought out the cake it was gorgeous and she asked me about the inscription which I gave her. She wrote on the cake so elaborately that it made my cake look rich and very professional. I thanked her and left with my kids. At supper when it came time to cut the cake, my husband was excited! As he cut into it and the strawberry syrup poured out and he saw the quality of strawberries packed into the cake with custard, he began to eat it with his eyes before it ever reached his lips. When he tasted it, he closed his eyes and he breathe in as he savored the taste, letting out a satisfied...mmmmm!!!! Then he commented," They got it right! This is the best cassata cake that I've tasted in my life!" Watching him enjoy it with such pleasure, gave me joy and made my heart swell with pleasure not just for his happiness, but for Corbos as well. So Corbos, you did a job well done! The service was on point! The presentation was on point and the taste was delectable! That cake was made with heart, passion and pride! Corbo's is the better bakery in this neighborhood. I live nearby (walking distance), and stop by here often for a treat. The cannoli are filled fresh on the spot. Coconut bars are moist and well-balanced with cake and chocolate syrup and coconut flakes. The cookies are fresh and fun to eat. The Cassata Cake is of course legendary! Recently my cousin served it at his wedding, we like it that much. The gelato is good too. Also, don't pass by on the odds and ends boxes. These are the same cookies as in the display cases, they just didn't turn out as pretty. Great value! read more

Love this place! I can see why both Presti's and Corbos can coexist across the street from one another. They are great bakeries in their own right. For cassata cake, though, Corbos is awesome. Surprisingly delicious baked goods! I went to the location in the Marc's grocery store in Mayfield Heights, and was slightly put off by the dingey packaging atmosphere. I didn't expect much from their baked goods and wouldnt have bought anything if my boyfriend hadn't ko kept enthusiastically mentioning grabbing some sweets, but I'm really glad we decided to buy aome pastries! The names of the pastries we bought escape me now, but the taste never will! I bought a pastry that was similar to a bear claw but was much, much more delicious. It managed to be very rich, very gooey, very nutty, and very flaky, and very airy all at the same time. Boyfriend got what im assuming was shortbread cookie rounds with fruit preserve in the middle. I wasn't a fan of those since I usually dont like that type of cookie, but he definitely enjoyed them much more than other variations he had tried. I will for sure be visiting this place again on my next trip to Cleveland. read more

Had to stop at Corbo's Bakery because my husband was craving some Cassata cake and this is the place to get it. I ordered a few cookies, the rainbow ones and the leaf cookies. The leaf ones were disappointingly not crispy, but still tasty. His cassata cake was also a disappointment. Apparently Corbos used to use a whipcream topping and now they settle for cool whip. He even told me that the one I made him for his birthday was better. Such a compliment & you see how nice I am making cassata cake for the husband. :) read more

Just to let you know my husband and I ordered a german chocolate cake from Corbo's Bakery and was very disappointed. I wasn't going to call at first but we paid $25.00 for this cake it was our anniversary. I decided to go ahead and call anyway, spoke with a manager who didn;t really care how we felt about us being disappointed as a customer. She did let me know that German Chocolate Cake is not one of their specialties, and it was made for us. I just wish someone had explained how the cake as made before we bought it. The only thing German about it was the filling. I did not want a chocolate fudge cake with chocolate fudge frosting. Very disappointing! She did however offer to make us another cake at half off.
