As there are not too many breakfast options in downtown Victoria, you may have to wait in line on the sidewalk, which we did. But it moves pretty quickly, unlike the service. The menu is enormous with options for carb lovers (waffles, pancakes, etc) and health nuts alike (the kale smoothie bowl). Everything you order comes smothered with fresh fruit. They even warn you before putting syrup on anything to try it first with the fruit and toppings as it's probably sweet enough! We had the Banana Caramel Waffle and the Strawberry French Toast-both were so good! The service is very slow (you have been warned!), but worth the wait! read more

This was a spur of the moment decision and although some parts of the meal were good; some were not. The Coffee was terrible so I put the cup aside yet the server never inquired. We came here for brunch with our family with 2 young kids. We had a big double stroller, and the staff was very nice and accommodating and even put our stroller away for us while we ate. The staff is very friendly and provided A+ customer service. Very family friendly. I ordered the breakfast poutine. It was very tasty. I wish I had more of it! As an American, we like huge portions! Haha. My Aunt ordered a Nutella crepe with some bacon and fruit. The crepe was sooo good and large. My husband ordered some sausage, bacon and eggs. It was average and nothing exciting. My only complaints are, they messed up our check at the end. They forgot to bring my kid's ramekin of fruit but still charged us for it. They also brought my husband a coffee that he never ordered and charged us for it. We brought it to their attention, and they fixed the bill for us. We will definitely be coming back and next time I'll order the breakfast poutine again and some Nutella crepe! read more

This was your average brunch experience, although there are definitely better places in town - this was just closest to our hotel. The waitstaff was extremely cheerful and friendly, although there was a bit of a gap between being seated and ordering drinks. I ordered the strawberry banana pancakes, which were okay but lacking in a syrup or moisture - the strawberry jam wasn't enough. They work with you if you have allergies. I ordered the waffles and strawberries. They were nice enough to deconstruct the meal and bring everything separately. I hear that Victoria is some kind of major breakfast/brunch reputation, so when I saw the reviews for this place, I thought maybe it was playing ugly stepsister to the local Cinderellas. I think that is somewhat the case. I came in near opening time (jet lag) and was greeted pleasantly and served pleasantly. I ordered a standard bacon and eggs breakfast and I have to admit it was nothing special. Fair enough. The potatoes were strangely unappealing - I only tasted one so that I might be pleasantly surprised. I wasn't. But I have no problem with getting an ok breakfast with good coffee and good service in clean, bright surroundings. And this place obviously has some regulars who enjoy being treated respectfully and kindly and I like being in a restaurant that obviously has staff with good hearts. If you're looking for some out of the world brunch, you won't find it here. If you're looking for breakfast and a welcome for you and your family and friends, its here. read more

Nice breakfast/brunch place near our hotel, which is just what we needed to snap us out of a morning funk with the hotel continental breakfast. We visited Cora's twice on our Victoria holiday and we really enjoyed what we got. Lovely fruit art that tasted great as well as really good breakfast food. My in-laws raved about the English-style sausages. My second trip, I had the breakfast hot dogs and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Delicious and a surprisingly good meal in the morning. I was surprised when I walked into Cora's by the vastness of the space and the volume of customers. Friendly, fast and efficient staff greeted us at the door and had us in our seats before too long. The menu features a giant and slightly off putting photo of Cora on its cover. Inside is a bizarre menu of crêpes and eggs. There's probably something that will appeal to everyone, but nothing jumps off the page. I decided to try a crêpomlette, which has both a bad name and a really unappealing photo. Despite those things, the meal was okay but really uninspiring. I did appreciate the quiet of Cora's, with no booming music or tightly jammed tables it was easy to hear everyone at my table. I can't say that I'll be rushing back to Cora's but I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying it for themselves. Just don't expect anything much beyond a Denny's type experience. read more

I went here for the holidays and ended up coming back to Cora's 3 times. :) it's not that "super classy" or "Instagram picture" breakfast place, but if you want good quality food come here! Not recommended for lunch . . . Maybe it's better for breakfast only? Three of us thought we'd give it a try for lunch on a work day. I was the only one that made the best menu choice: minestrone soup and egg salad sandwich. Sure, the soup tasted like it came from a pail, but it had more flavour and vegetables than the Spaghetti Factory pail down the street. The egg salad tasted freshly prepared and the bread was super soft, like Wonder bread. The guys were both vocal on how "bad" their choices were, and it was apparent just by looking at the plate. The beef panini crepe looked old and tired, with dried out looking beef inside, said to have tasted like "dog food", and a sad, wilted salad with brown-tinged greens, and old sliced strawberries. Cora's take on the club sandwich looks unappetizingly thrown together, which was confirmed by my colleague, who said it was barely one star in taste and quality. His side salad had the same brown-tinged greens and old sliced strawberries that he did not finish. The Lima beans on top I tasted were bland and tinny. Overall, the guys' lunches were awful and I got the gears for a week for picking this place. When I mentioned at the till that the gentlemens' lunches were not enjoyed, they were overly apologetic, and searched frantically in the desk for some sort of comp card or coupon, but were all out! There are too many other lunch places nearby to want to go back to Cora. I noticed at it was only a quarter full during the lunch hour. Sorry Cora . . . read more

The serving staff was nice, but the menu is really bizarre. They have a lot of weird specialties that always seem to be missing something or have one ingredient that just does not belong. The meals are discordant. You have to specialize your order to get something good. And it's expensive for the quality and quantity. The meals should be priced around $8 instead of $13-14. (Especially since you have to add on to get a good dish.) I could make the food work if I went back, but I would not go back with those prices. My experience her was consistent with the rest of the Cora's I've been to, though slightly less busy (still full, though). If you have an egg and dairy allergy, this is NOT the place to come. Virtually the entire menu is based on eggs - omelette's, pancakes, crepes, etc. We did quite well with the sides menu, though. They do upsell you with add ons (cheese, mushrooms and onions, etc), but don't mention the cost at all. Basically every Cora's I've ever been to has been extremely busy and would greatly benefit from having more staff on. read more

Speaking of places that I hope thrive, I am not talking about Cora's. I will however upgrade them from truly terrible to merely bad. I don't get the long line ups there. There's nothing exceptional about the food. There's nothing exceptional about the service. There's nothing exceptional about the environment. There's not even anything great about the price. It's a refectory that serves a lot of food. They have this gimmick of piles of fresh fruit. I guess that's the part that sets it apart, and as I don't like fresh fruit, it's lost on me. But still, if I want a dried burger, topped with a smear of electric yellow, flavourless hollandaise, I know where to go. If I want my cheese processed and my eggs pre-cooked into a folded sheet, I know where to go. If I want staff too busy to serve their customers well, I know where to go. But seriously, Victoria, there's a hundred places in town that do breakfast better than Cora's. I bet Hawk and Hen was half empty at the same time. So why the line-up? It's a mystery to me. Saturday breakfast was so slowwwww. Food was fine, but on a cold Saturday at 10am, the place wasn't extremely busy; there were quite a few empty tables; it took 20 minutes to order and 65 minutes to get our eggs. Food was good, fresh, hot but it was a good thing we weren't in a hurry. read more

My kids enjoyed their meal a lot so I am giving it an extra star. I'm not a huge egg fan, so opted for the bagel with lox and cream cheese. Wow, only one side of the bagel had the lox. The other side tomatoes. Tomatoes! I thought it was an accident and asked my waitress if they made a mistake at $16 a plate. She indicated that the picture was a bit deceiving. Um, a little. I'm sure, given another shot, I might rate this place higher. What this place provides in the presentation of the food it tarnishes with the tackiness of the basic, breakfast-restaurant decor. They have a great amount of breakfast variety that is very different that most places (sadly no hash browns). The fruit looked amazing but sadly I didn't order it. I had a crepe wrap and it was relatively average. They have good portions and good options, I just think maybe I picked the wrong thing (too many things to choose from). read more

Cora's was a great place for a family to have breakfast or lunch. The seating is diner style and family friendly. There are newspapers in a rack by the door for those wanting to read while they eat. Cora's offers a large menu as well as separate kids menu, there were a lot of interesting selections and many are customizable and all included fresh, delicious fruit, which was a nice treat. One of my sons chose the Oreo Pancakes, more like dessert than breakfast but it was vacation and he loved them. I had an omelet wrapped in a crepe and covered in Hollandaise sauce which was delicious. The rest of the family had usual breakfast fare and all were happy and full. The restaurant was clean and the wait staff was friendly and service was great. Our waitress was especially nice and went out of her way to make sure we had our meal promptly. I would definitely recommend Cora's and will make it a point to eat there next time I am in Victoria. read more
