I really like Dr. Crear and some of the PAs so it's a shame that the messaging service is not held to a high standard. Honestly, it's like talking to a child...but one who clearly uses AI to polish their grammar. The level of incompetence - with incorrect prescriptions called in and incorrect information relayed - is concerning. I hope they don't have these medical assistants completing tasks that require common sense, like relaying important test results. I know practices are trying to increase profits, especially those practices that are owned by private equity (which this place may be--IDK). But please consider your patients. Don't run a competent practice into the ground by having these assistants do what medical professionals should be doing. Employ some actual nurses to answer patient questions for god's sake, not just "medical assistants."

FOUR THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR$ for one two-hour appointment. Her follow up appointments are $780.00 per hour and 3-6 weeks apart. Plus thousands of dollar$ more for her 'lab tests' and 'supplements'. In a just one year, the math is the 'tell'... $15,000.00 to $20,000.00 Dollars.... And no insurance. I cannot comprehend what appears to be an shocking disregard for decency. I have been in healthcare almost my entire life. When I moved to Austin I engaged with an Internist…read moreand was fairly satisfied until realizing she was not looking at my 'whole self'. I was working and stressed so much I just did not have the energy to look elsewhere but realized I really needed a change. Late last year I began looking for that change to a new provider and found Flora Medical Clinic. Again, I have had an intimate professional healthcare background and experienced many healthcare providers in my life but there are unfortunately too few who really care about their patients, listen and provide interest, guidance and explanation regarding why healthcare advice is being given. Dr. Kolte is one in a million. She challenges me to be what I have looked for to tackle my few health issues and her nutritional guidance is amazing. She cannot do this on her own so YOU need to listen and be willing to try, try, try. On top of Dr. Kolte's great professional and caring nature she then has a staff who is responsive, professional and kind. My last Internist I was lucky to get a phone call returned and the front desk receptionist always appeared unhappy. I am slowly making changes in my nutritional foundation to improve my health. I thought I was eating healthy and was doing what I was told over the last several years which is opposite of what I am now being guided towards a better nutritional way of thinking. Hey, we live in the South, I traveled so much for work (lots of restaurant food) but now retired early to finally focus on me. Dr. Kolte and her team are amazing. I always feel like someone cares when I leave my office visits. Folks, that is rare in today's healthcare world. I know. I have seen it across the states. Patience, caring, listening and allows questions. THAT is what makes her great. Namaste.

The day prior to going to the ER I went to Premier and saw "Doctor" Hale, explained the horrible headaches I had been having without letup, slurred speech issues, typing issues - and he gave me an ibuprofen shot and sent me on my way with no follow up. He said he would call to discuss the emailed blood work results with a phone call - nada. The ER doctors were absolutely appalled at the zero interest/lack of concern about the cause of the headaches, which was easily determined with a simple CT scan. They confirmed that he was taking new patients. They said they'd email me the paperwork. I spelled my email address v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. Next day, I phoned his office again. I said I hadn't gotten an email, maybe because they hadn't spelled my email address correctly. I spelled it again v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. So I went to the office. I asked to fill out the paperwork then and there, and they gave it to me. When I turned it in, they said someone would review it and call me to make an appointment. Did they? You guessed it. No call. So why would a doctor claim to be taking new patients when he really isn't? Is it some quirky insurance thing? I just don't get it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ P.S. The day after I left this review, his office called me to schedule an appointment. Needless to say, I declined. So I guess he is taking new patients (at least when prompted by a Yelp review). As others here have noted, one never feels that he's in a rush to wrap up his time with you and move on. He takes time to engage in a conversation with you, to listen to your concerns and questions, and to address them thoroughly. For me, good communication is the most important quality I look for in a primary care doctor, aside from a basic confidence in his/her competence. Dr. Killian has helped me better understand my various medical issues and articulates his treatment goals and methodologies in an exceptionally thorough and understandable manner. I have a fantastic cardiologist who is also an excellent communicator, but I have often found myself with Dr. Killian explaining and helping me understand my heart issues more completely than I would listening to my cardiologist alone. He is thorough in integrating test results and other information from the cardiologist (and other specialists) into my patient records to maintain a complete understanding of all my ongoing medical issues. I could scarcely ask for more than that. His group practice, Red River Family Practice, is well-run, and I have encountered very few of the office/administrative frustrations I have at similar group practice offices. Reading some other less-than-positive reviews here, I'm reminded that no single physician is likely to be the right fit for every patient, each with their unique concerns and expectations. That said, Dr. Killian is a perfect fit for my priorities and expectations, and his competence and professionalism provide a rock-solid foundation to support those preferences. Three cheers and five stars for the good doctor, Michael Killian!
