Dr. Meggie is a miracle worker and a very talented chiropractor! I have severe scoliosis (94 degrees of curves that don't belong there) and work as a professional musician. Before I started seeing Dr. Meggie regularly, my back was in agony after playing only 2 or 3 hours. Since seeing her I am able to play 5 hours at a time, and often I don't feel any pain afterwards. The type of chiropractic she does is so gentle initially it was hard for me to think such gentle touches could help. Dr. Meggie has been seeing our 3.5 year old daughter for GI issues and our 1 year old son for sleep and has truly helped both of them. I appreciate her gentle approach, clear communication about what she is noticing, and friendly/nurturing manner with our kids. They both enjoy coming in for their adjustments and we've noticed not only improvements with the presenting concerns, but also lifted moods and increased energy in the days after their sessions. I wish I could give a good review, but I cannot. First, I only saw Dr. Meggie for a few minutes sitting in her office. She looked at me standing and raising my arms, no watching my walk. Then I went to the treatment room. I was put on a cloth table with no sheet on it. I don't know if it is ever cleaned between patients. Then Dr. Will came in and touched me for a minute then went on to another room to work on other patients and came back in about 5 minutes. That is how the treatment went. One minute with the doc, 5 minutes alone, etc. It did not feel personal to my condition. Dr. Will and I did not even really talk to each other. Once toward the end of the treatment he told me to take three deep breaths. That's it. I have been a body work practioner for 45 years and have tried to have an open mind about different kinds of work. I'm willing to give different methods a try. In this case I feel my $170 would have been better used somewhere else. I am very disappointed. Maybe if Dr. Meggie had worked with me it would have been different, but she did not. read more

I've been to one other chiropractor in my life (Peak Performance, check the review) and this is a different experience than what one would expect from a run-of-the-mill chiropractor. I met Dr. Smith at a Mind, Body, Spirit Expo and liked her right away. When she told me her office was just around the corner from mine I booked my first appointment. Dr. Smith does work that is generally not covered by insurances because it is outside of the purview of "normal" "Western" "medicine". I struggle with this kind of thing all the time because I disagree with the structure of our medical systems completely. I don't want to wait to get sick to take care of myself, I want to take care of myself to prevent sickness and insurance companies (like a bunch of money burning fools) don't promote that (yet). So! My point is that Dr. Smith has found a way to deal with this narrow sightedness of the medical payment industry. She doesn't bill insurance herself. She gives the information to her patients and they can bill their insurances as they see fit. This might sound scary to some, but the other major perk is that Dr. Smith purposely keeps her fees quite reasonable and low so that even un-or-under-insured folks can utilize her services. And her services are very worthwhile. I have a weak knee and some lasting damage from poorly healed, years old, injuries. On my first visit she did her assessments of me, we talked about my routines, pains and practices. She then did some work on me for about 10 - 12 minutes that opened up tension in places I have a hard time relaxing, and made me feel very refreshed and calmed. She doesn't do typical chiropractic "adjustments" unless her patients really need it or really request it. I've had a lot of chiropractic work and Margaret's technique is one of the most interesting and gentle to experience. No surprise cracking but you leave feeling like something did happen and you will feel like you got your battery replaced. I felt even better as the day wore on. She is very intuitive and her method is very gentle and focuses on releasing tension patterns within your body and to change your energy so that you can let go of the inbalances within your body that are causing you pain. Because I do bodywork, I appreciate when I find someone who is good at what they do and treats people well. Margaret has been a fantastic find. My visits are a great relaxer in the middle of stressful days, and I always leave feeling calmer and more centered. My visits start with Margaret asking if I have an specific concerns, and if I do, she will listen and then clearly explain what could be causing it and how we can go about making it better. If no specific issues, she'll proceed with gentle light touch that frees up the energy in my body, taking care of trouble spots, often before I even notice them. I'll fully admit that prior to seeing Margaret I was skeptical of non-traditional medicine but she has made a discernible difference in my well being and I highly recommend her services. read more

I began seeing Dr. Liz after the birth of my fourth child. She helped me to feel balanced emotionally and physically after a very traumatic birth experience. All four of my child (ranging from 9years -15months) are patients and look forward to seeing Dr. Liz whether healthy or sick. My youngest child has been a patient since she was six weeks of age. Dr. Liz has helped us through ear aches, fevers, colds, sports injuries and general childhood bumps and falls. The setting is relaxing and serene. There is an area for kids to play with books and a wonderful gnome house. And the butterflies take flight for kids allowing them to relax and be still for their adjustment. The staff has also always been supportive and accommodating with last minute appointment request. She is a magician!!! I have been to so many people about my back and knee issues and she has helped me with those issues and so many others as well. I get anxious and get panic attacks they have almost completely disappeared since I have been seeing her... so I am sleeping better too!!! I found Chiropractic First because I was looking for someone local who was practicing prenatal chiropractic care. I suffered a lot of back pain when pregnant with my first child and did not want a repeat of that. I began seeing Dr. Liz in November and it has been a wonderful experience! Dr. Liz is an extremely warm and caring person (as is her staff). She genuinely cares for the overall health and well being of her patients. She uses gentle manipulation (not the "back cracking" approach) that is unbelievably peaceful and effective. She is also highly educated in nutrition analysis and although I have not gone through this process yet, is always educating me on ways to live and eat healthier. It is truly a holistic approach in her office as opposed to other chiropractors I've seen where you are in the office for 5 minutes for a quick adjustment and on your way. Her concern is for your total well being. Now that I've been going to Dr. Liz for several months I can say that her techniques truly work. I suffer almost no back pain and am so happy that I found her and her staff. Not only is she wonderful with pregnant women but with the whole family. I went to Dr. Meggie a couple of times when I was in town for my wedding, and I wish I lived in the same city so I could see her regularly. I was extremely stressed, to say the least, and my lower back felt horrible. Dr. Meggie has a warm, wonderful presence, and the results were very dramatic. Without any cracking, she made me feel 1000 times better. I felt calm and positive, and my back didn't hurt. I could literally feel the changes in the way my bones and muscles were positioned as it was happening. I think it would be life-changing to do this regularly. I don't write many Yelp recs, but she is a lovely person and talented healer who takes excellent care of your back, your body, and your mind. read more

Both my treatment & results here have so far both been unnervingly good--immediate, attentive, & reenforcingly accretive, The major caveat, while serious, does not affect my rating, is financial. Here too, Medicare can't, won't, but anyway doesn't, cover this "new school" practice (or maybe overall type) of painless; & 'in the facts' of my own 70+ years of experience, magically gentle chiropracty. Total witchdoctor. First of all when you go in there there's all these idiotic butterflies hanging from the ceiling and new age music playing and you can just tell that you're about to get a total load of unscientific nonsensical mumbo jumbo thrown at you. After clicking around on me for a few minutes with what seemed to be some kind of voodoo-like mechanical pencil thing, the conclusion drawn was that apparently my neck pain has something to do with the various colors of clothing that I choose to wear. I would avoid this place unless you just happen to have more money than sense and are looking to sponsor the national decay of science, reason and rational thought and feel you would like to willfully participate in the decline and fall of western civilization. To their credit I was not charged because I was visibly fully unsatisfied with the ridiculous farce of so-called holistic treatment. It's probably great for people who believe in astrology or think Sarah Palin is a reasonable presidential nominee. read more

Hm, Tom the other reviewer sounds really angry. But I actually had great experiences here, esp. with Dr. Liz. I don't understand chiropractice at all but I would really recommend them, especially for what I had, sciatica. I was highly skeptical of chiropractors at first because I wasn't sure what they did, and I mean I think I'm as much a scientific, modern-minded guy as the next person. I came in with sciatica that I had for a year, that hurt to the point where every night's sleep hurt, and I would hold back coughs or sneezes because my leg hurt so much. Other places I had been to charged a ton and hadn't been able to solve it (athletic injury places etc). Honestly, the first treatment was a short 20 minute session where it didn't feel like she did anything--it just felt like she poked softly around my back for a while, scanned me with this sketchy looking machine, and told me I was good to go. I was really skeptical because it didn't feel like she DID anything, you know? But apparently whatever she did worked, because after that session my sciatica was a lot better. After 2-3 more treatments my sciatica was completely gone. It relapsed a little after a few weeks but with a few more treatments after that it was gone completely. Total cost: about $300, or the price of a single treatment at the physical fitness place I went. Right now I have no leg/back sciatica pain. It's really weird because I could swear she did nothing but push around some muscles on my back while I took a nap, but results are results, and I can't argue with them. I'm super glad I went to Chiropractice First and would totally recommend going in with an open mind. read more

After a conventional hand specialist told me I would just have severe wrist pain for the rest of my life, someone recommended I see Meggie Smith. I am so glad they did! After experiencing this pain for years, it is gone! Going in for this gentle form of treatment is actually a treat. Both doctors and the receptionist are all very friendly and it's a very comfortable place to be. Because they take a holistic approach, they treat whatever is bothering you at the moment, unlike in conventional Western medicine where if they're only billing to talk about your left hand, your right hand doesn't exist. They recognize that all your parts are connected to each other. I would highly recommend these folks to anyone. read more
