My wife and I had an early Valentine's Day dinner, or late lunch depending on how you look at it…read more The place was already full on a Saturday afternoon in the bar area, but we had our table waiting for us in the dining room. The host was friendly, our server was upbeat and attentive, and the owner came by to chat late in the meal. A truly welcoming experience. We started off with two Black & Tans (Guinness and Harp) and an order of the Irish Fritters and mini potato pancakes. Generous enough portions of both, that we set aside half to take home for the next day. Our entrees were the Irish Meatloaf dinner and the baked haddock dinner. Both arrived perfectly timed and perfectly cooked. Again, we couldn't quite finish them, so we boxed up the remainder for Sunday. For dessert, we opted to drink ours. We ordered a strawberry Martini and a whiskey cocktail named after the title of Ireland's Prime Minister. All in all, it was 2 hours from start to finish, the bill was $110, to which I added a 25% tip. If you're looking for a real taste of Ireland, look no further than Kitty Hoynes.

One of our favorites when we visit Syracuse. Probably our last time. So sad. We had the Shepards…read morepie and first and chips. The pie was good but the mashed potatoes was burnt on top. After Removing the burnt crust the rest was delicious. The fish did not seem to be a light white fish though the fries were excellent. We also had the sandwich of the day to go. It was good. For dessert we had the gluten free brownie. It came with ice cream and was very good. We were in a corner of the restaurant and the service was a bit on the slow side.

I met up with friends for a pre show beverage they had already been served burger with fries beers…read moreand had ordered me one as well. Lively Irish Pub atmosphere. I was never acknowledged by bar tender or any staff. Not offered a menu or refills. Staff had to be flagged down for the bill and cleanup of dishes that were on the bar the entire visit. The sandwiches being served looked like good portions, I would definitely like to try the Reuben and see what is offered on the menu! My friend said the burger was good but fries were served cold. Better luck next time! "Go n-éirí leat"

Cozy pub vibes right in the heart of Syracuse!…read more My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Shaughnessy's Irish Pub on a Sunday night when most places nearby were already closed--and it turned out to be a happy accident! The pub was quiet when we arrived but quickly filled up, giving it a great energy without feeling too crowded. We shared the nachos and a mix of wings--both delicious, with the perfect balance of flavor and crunch. I had a glass of white wine (nothing extraordinary, but still tasty), and my boyfriend ordered a Guinness and immediately noted how perfect the pour was--exactly what you'd hope for at an Irish pub. All in all, a great spot with solid food, a relaxed vibe, and friendly service. Would definitely recommend if you're in Syracuse and looking for a cozy place that stays open a little later!
