Weird. Copperopolis is a real estate developer invented "town". This is a brand new "downtown oldtown" and then empty unsold lots. Stopped, had lunch, will review the restaurant separately to respect the pleasant attentive staff........but do not be fooled by Google maps that this is an Old West Town! Ha! Best part is the Old Hotel where if you look through the front doors all you see is empty space out the back doors and grass. Should be in a movie from the 80's.

A perfect spot for a weekend getaway or a girls trip. Stay at the Gateway Hotel where modern day and meets the gold rush. Then step outside and enjoy the town Square. While strolling along visit the art gallery and the boutiques. You can start your day with breakfast at Baldi's. Then a lunch at Gold Dust Pizza. Time to relax at The Tipsy Frog enjoying wines from around the world. Then finish the night with dinner at Griffs, Barbecue and Grill. Don't forget to stop in at Coppers Java and enjoy a coffee or ice cream.

This is a cute town square modeled after Back to the Future. It features concerts in September and a variety of other events during the year. Gold Dust Pizza and the coffee shop are my favorite spots. The ice cream shop is good too. The square is mostly quiet and not a lot going on and many stores have weird hours, but the events such as the September concerts bring hundreds of people. If you're in the area and want gas, pizza, coffee, or ice cream it's worth a quick stop. I hope they bring a grocery store there or something to bring in more business.

I didn't sleep for two nights. The halls and even the rooms reeked of weed, and management clearly doesn't care or can't control it. If you're hoping for a peaceful night or traveling with kids, forget it. The blinds? Useless. They barely block any light, so don't expect to sleep in. And if you're hoping for a nice view to make up for it, prepare to stare at a gas station. This place is a loud, smelly disappointment. Now I get why this area keeps going bankrupt. There's zero pride in service or hospitality here. Plenty of better places nearby--don't waste your time or money here.

Stayed here recently and it's a mostly nice, new hotel but not without some issues…read more The Good: The beds are soft and fluffy. There are robes, nice towels, a mini fridge, nice showers, and in room coffee. The pool area is resort like, clean, and well appointed. There is ample parking, electric car charging, three restaurants across the street, a gas station and convenience store on the corner, and it's all pretty convienently located to neighboring towns and sights. The Bad: Upon check in our room had not been cleaned properly. There was urine on the toilet seat and hair on the bedsheets. We had to request for it to be cleaned again. You have to request housekeeping every day if you wish to have the trash emptied or anything replaced. This seems to be a common hotel trend now and I really wish it wasn't. A couple employees were helpful but the staff seems not very well versed in hospitality overall. There was no safe in the room so I had to carry my valuables with me (laptop, jewelry, etc) in a backpack if I went anywhere. The room had a trendy barn door for the bathroom which looks nice but there is no privacy due to the giant gaps on either side of the door when you close it. Make sure you are very comfortable with whomever you're sharing a room with. The pool was not heated. It is absolutely ice cold and unless it's over 100 degrees outside it's extremely uncomfortable to get into the water. On a similar note, the hot tub was merely warm, not hot. On Monday there was no pool attendant and the bathrooms were locked so I asked the front desk twice to send someone to unlock them and they never did. We were there for about 4 hours and I kept having to walk back and forth to the hotel lobby... which brings me to... The Weird: The hotel pool is located across the street and on the corner. You can get there from the back parking lot though so at least you're not parading over in front of restaurants. The pool attendant on the weekends had a basket of towels to hand out but told us we needed to take them to our room when we were done because - "I don't know. We used to have a bag but we don't anymore." I would suggest getting a bin of some sort that housekeeping can empty once a day. There was a door in our room that we thought was a closet, but when we opened it there were no shelves and no rack to hang clothing or anything else. Just an empty room about the size of an average adult. I decided this must be a portal to another dimension. The location reminds me of a theme park in that it's all quite new, clean and manufactured looking. An ice cream shop, restaurants, a barber and a park like area in the middle with games, etc.... but it's also kind of in the middle of nowhere so it all seems really out of place with it's surroundings. Because of that, I felt like it would be a terrific setting for a horror novel. LOL... Anyway, you certainly could do worse but I can't see staying here again tbh.

We left at 630 for a 2 hour drive so we could have breakfast at Copper Valley restaurant. They don't serve breakfast on Thursdays. We will take the blame for that as we assumed a golf resort would serve breakfast. Then we played at 11 really hot and windy behind a group that took 5 hours but the worst part was on a hole that was a dog leg I had a blind shot to the green. We waited all day until the group was way off the green to hit. I pulled my 8 iron left of the green and landed about 10 yards from the group in their cart. The member got out of his cart picked my ball up and threw it in the weeds. Never seen that before. We finished and had a beer and went to out 2 bedroom condo. We had 2. Our friends condo had no air conditioning and were miserable all night and decided not to play the 2nd day. So our twosome went over to get a quick breakfast before our tee time at 8. No luck breakfast not served until 8. All in all we decided that $500 would be better spent elsewhere. By the way we had dinner and it was average but expensive. My recommendation is pass on Copper Valley and go somewhere else.

The GPS took us to the old building which has a casino and bingo hall. We parked here but ended up taking the shuttle to the brand new building which was located just a couple minute drive away. If your goal is to spend your time in the new building, there's plenty of parking down on the lower lot. We signed up for the players club which came with $10 in free play, which got used up pretty quick. They have a ton of slots and a handful of card tables. The lowest minimum I saw for blackjack was $15, and definitely the most popular of the blackjack tables. I spent most of my time on the slots and while I started off hot, the casino always wins in the end lol. I racked up enough player points to get a free bluetooth speaker, which was pretty cool! The slots I had the best luck on was the Top Dollar and Huff n Puff machines. Everything else was no good for me. The Casino floor isn't huge by any stretch but does what it needs to do. They have a few restaurants on-site. The 209 sports bar was the busiest and one of the only spots to watch sports and eat. The bar on the 3rd floor had live music after 9pm and was pretty lively. I was low key very surprised at how busy it was. Overall, solid spot to get your casino fix that just so happened to be a short drive from where we are staying. Next time I'm feeling the urge to win, I definitely wouldn't hesitate spending more time here.
