I stopped by the Copper World gift shop and I was surprised it spanned three buildings. The workers there were very friendly. It sells many UP themed gifts and food. I also went to the Copper Scoop for ice cream. I learned that this street tries to preserve/rehabilitate as many historical buildings for this area. The visitor center has more information about this as well; in fact the center is in what was formerly the Union Building. I liked how this is a one way street so it's easier to watch out for cars. There is also free parking on the side of the road or a free lot at the visitors center too.

The NPS rangers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. If you have kids, there's a room full of kid-specific activities for the younger ones. The center was actually closed the first time I visited the UP two years ago, and so instead I took the Quincy mine tour. If you're claustrophobic or don't want to do the tour, I would say that this place covers a lot of what they present in the tour (minus actually being in the mine and having demonstrations, and some more mine specific things). The visitor center also holds a daily one hour tour with varying subjects, from geology to the history of the town. Don't miss it!

Went to the Marquette location and was surprised to see a 3% surcharge on all "card purchases"…read more Surcharges for credit cards are common but this store also includes Debit Cards in that policy. Not a fan and when I asked to reverse the charge and that I would pay cash the owner/manager seemed not pleased. We go here frequently and I will have to remember to bring cash in the future. (We went to 6 other stores in Marquette today, used debit card at each place, and none of them used a surcharge.

The shop is actually quite large with tons of fun and weird stuff. Signs, clothing and all types of collectibles. Outside, the entire surrounding area and lot is filled with something of an Upper Michigan Museum. One that totally makes fun of the "Yopper" life style. (A Yooper is someone that lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). I'll admit, some displays were kind of dumb and outdated, others I didn't even get...but I have to say it was far different than any gift shop I've ever been to. If you're in the U. P. (for whatever reason) and you have nothing to do, stop in. It's free, fun, and you probably have to pee anyway.

About 5 mins in shopping a man abruptly entered speaking loudly and reminiscing about the last nights drinking and questioned the young lady at the cash register about why she didn't call him and talking about how she missed out on a good time etc. Then the employee and the obnoxious man embraced. I found it completely uncomfortable and inappropriate. This has been one of my favorite places in the past. Unfortunately, this business lost over $200 today because of this. I won't be back.

The flower arrangement did not look like what we ordered...it looked WAY better and cheery on a November day in the UP! And the gift basket was wonderful! I picked them up to deliver them myself, since the delivery address was 30 miles away. Thank you Calumet Floral! Very impressive! (Btw....I am from the Keweenaw, not Ashland Wi.....)

I ordered flowers from Calumet Flower shop for my son' and my mom's burial. I specifically…read morerequested sunflowers for my mom as they are her favorite flower. Amy assured me she would have sunflowers in the arrangement. I also asked that my son's flowers be in the shape of a football with flowers in the color of the San Francisco 49ers red and gold. Amy assured me she could do this and even looked up the colors to be sure. Amy said she would have the flowers at the gravesite 1 hour prior to the service. On the day of the service, Amy arrived approximately 15 minutes before the service started. My mom's flowers had no sunflowers and my son's flowers were not in the shape of a football nor was there any gold flowers in the arrangement. Instead a real football Had been lanced to the middle of a carnation arrangement. I understand things happen and sometimes you can't do what you said u could do. But as late as 4 days before the service Amy advised everything was good and she could provide what I requested. She never called to say she could not. These flowers were expensive. But more than that, I trusted Amy and Calumet flower shop to provide the flowers we requested to honor our family. They let us down. If you want to be certain you get the flowers you ask for, I would recommend you use another flower shop. My family was very disappointed.
