This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a contractor. RPB Roofing made verbal…read morepromises that we would only owe what insurance covered -- and that was the only reason we moved forward with them. After the work was done and we paid the only invoice they gave us, they came back months later demanding nearly $8,000 more, full of bogus fees we never agreed to: a $1,000 appraisal fee we didn't authorize, late fees, interest, and a "non-recoverable depreciation" charge they never mentioned. We were never given a written breakdown, no follow-up invoices, and after discussing what happened, they threatened us with a lien on our home. The owner, Ryan, has shown zero professionalism or ethics throughout the process. He talks smooth at the beginning to earn your trust, but completely changes tone when you push back or ask questions. Do NOT trust this company. Their shady billing practices and lack of transparency are unacceptable. If you value your home, your finances, and your peace of mind -- stay far away from RPB Roofing.

I really appreciated their policy of waiting for enough dry weather to actually finish... (especially when watching the exposed wood-composite of two of my neighbors get rained upon because their contractor was apparently more interested in schedules than the home they were working on). Sometimes James was difficult to get on the phone but he always, without fail, communicated via email, text or callback within 2-12 hours, sometimes quicker. The crew showed up timely, did great work, cleaned up daily and they were done on schedule. They were all very friendly and courteous and respectful of us and our property. Jantzen has spent SO much time talking through various roofing issues with me over the years, and not once have I felt the least bit of pressure from him to make a sale. EXAMPLE: We recently had a contractor's crew working on a small addition to the house, and while they were on the roof, they told us the entire roof needed to be replaced. They texted me some photos they took of the roof while they were up there as "evidence." I sent the photos along to Jantzen, and he set up a call with me and spent the better part of an hour talking through his analysis of the roof based on both their photos and his experience being up on the roof itself in the past. With all that time and effort, you'd think he'd be pushing us to have him replace the roof, but he literally told me that we did NOT need to replace it at this stage.
