They just don't accept plastic or glass bottles here. This place looks like a dump but the customer service is very fast and efficient. Most of the workers here are Spanish speaking so hopefully you can make out what they tell you. My Spanish is Sykes rusty so I only understood 5% of what they said. All in all, this was a pleasant experience. Obviously, you're not gonna get rich by recycling anything but it does give you some pocket change to maybe buy a lottery ticket or two. I don't recall what the exact redemption value was for bringing in your unwanted cans for cash but I got around 50 cents for maybe 1.5 lbs of soda cans. Almost enough for a $1 lottery scratcher. The workers here will unload your trunk for you and weigh it all and than give you the proper amount of money. Fast service and you don't even need to lift a finger besides opening your trunk that is. I'm from Hawaii and back home, you can actually pay a utility bill or cell phone bill with your recycling money. Not here in Phoenix, it's a totally different process here so I'm gonna start trashing all my recyclables instead. Hope this helps my fellow planeteers!!

The WORST customer service EVER. We have been longtime customers. In mid-2022, as the national…read moreinflation rate went up to almost 9% and fuel went to $6 + gallon in Maricopa county, Waste Management raised our monthly charge for one 3 gallon dumpster service from $105 (already increased from $95 a few months before that) to $145/mo. They attributed this to the fuel increases and inflation. However, while inflation was at 9%, the rate increase was almost 50%. We assumed this was temporary. Now inflation is down to where it was before and fuel is back down to $4 gallon. But the monthly charge went down by a measly $3/mo. Before switching service to another company, I tried calling them. The first person I spoke with (after a long search on their website for a number to call to speak to an actual person) told me he understood and would transfer me to the "rate adjustment department," which he did, and there I was on hold for more than 45 minutes before I finally hung up. I found out from another dissatisfied Waste Mgmt customer that in order to quit service, the customer needs to give them 90 days written notice. I plan on one more try to get through to a real person and request an adjustment on our monthly bill. If I am put on hold again tomorrow (or if I get through and they are not willing to back out of what we thought was a temporary rate increase, I will give them the 90 days written notice and go with their competitor. Price gouging is price gouging, no matter what they call it at Waste Management. You'd think holding on to a long-time customer would matter.
