Not a friendly first time experience, lots of piles of scrap metal stacked high with poor signage and poor directions. Muddy dirt road, large dumpster and steel piled several stories. Office does not go out of their way to direct you to "we buy scrap". Turns out I came in the wrong way. Make sure you enter at the stop light. Then look for small sign (We Buy Scrap) When you get there the men are glad to see you, call you boss, and weight the scrap. I had 5 # of copper #2 tub clean and 11# of yellow brass clean. They thank you, give you a receipt and directions to cashier. It was back in the building I went to first. Found cashier window on outside near small cashier sign. $20.03 was my reward. Scary at first, but we are all strangers in a strange land. I would go back now that I know the drill. read more

Yes, the best can recycling place. They were friendly and pay the most. Sure, it's a large, dirty place and my only complaint is the strong perfume smell in the office. Drives my allergies crazy! It's a scrap yard and I could see it being a muddy mess if, and when, it ever rains here. read more

I would rate it zero if I could. After pushing a refrigerator, and two water heaters down Van Buren over to Washington to Davis Metals they practically stole my scrap. I was told not to come in by Zane, the guy that runs the scales not to come back after having a disagreement about brass and aluminum. The piece I had that day was indeed brass and that upset him because he has to fix it. I asked to speak to the owner who is never there. I was told by the cashier to come back or wait for the owner. As I was waiting Zane told me to leave or he was going to call the cops. I left in a hurry unable to get my two carts rolling because they had broke. I don't remember really ever having to write a review about anyone. I am homeless and didn't receive the anticipated 20 -30 dollars. I live on the money I get for scrapping which isn't much. Today I truly will go hungry because of a personal problem Zane had with me. Thanks for nothing. The lady at the register saw me in tears and she kept telling me the owner wasn't there and there was no one I could talk to. She told me to wait and Zane didn't agree. It is a very busy scrap yard but the gentleman at the scales always act like they don't want to do there job. They sometimes make you unload the scales in order to get your stuff Weighted. Everything mentioned in this review is the truth. The owner is a complete liar. I have never been banned from the scrap yard. The metal I had was indeed brass. Nothing he replied to was even truthful as me and the owner have never spoke. I would be willing to take a lie detector test if anyone wants to pay for it. I order some aluminum tubing cut to size. They filled the order on time and cut the pieces cleanly within tolerances. If they had charged me the price quoted over the phone, all would have been great. Unfortunately, the amount billed was about $30 higher than the amount quoted, even with cutting charges factored in. read more

Been buying from Davis for over 35 years building material etc. Until recently after I was asked by AJ the owner few years ago he would pick up my two retail automotive locations steel and aluminum and wheel lead etc. After going in for years to get metal and ask how much my metal pay out was it was always 15.00 25.00 no more and when I hauled it it was a payment to me for 250-300.00. I asked why so low and AJ states oh we have to charge your 120.00 per location to pick up the metal! 8 years I let him do this and I was given pennys. I says Aj isnt that a little steep and he said no? WTF I said you never told me you where gonna charge me 240.00 to pick up the steel etc for that much that was robbery. I'm done I will never go back! I said in 8 years i made not even 300.00 and you made 5k off my steel. read more

Good selection of product but extremely poor customer service. Went in not knowing exactly what I was looking for and hoping to get some assistance from them, being that they are the experts. The employee that supposedly "helped" me was Felix Guy. Not very friendly at all. Never bothered to take me out and show me the product to help me make a decision. It was close to closing time so Im sure he didn't want to be bothered. I told him I wanted "polished" diamond plate. His response was, "aluminum or steel?" This led me to believe they both came polished. I told him, "Im not sure which would be better for me, its for hauling my motorcycles". He responds again, "aluminum or steel". Believing they were both polished, I said steel. I went out and handed the guys the sheet and told them what size I wanted it cut to. When they returned with the sheets they were bare blackish colored. I was told I had to take them and that they would not take them back by Felix Guy. He would not budge or work with me in any way shape or form. I would have given them one star but the guys loading up outside were pretty great but unable to help me as they are not the decision makers. read more

Davis: the bait-n-switch salvage co. I had over a hundred pounds of aluminum window frames to recycle, so I called around to find a good price on aluminum salvage. The gentleman I talked with at Davis quoted me a decent price (I told him there was some paint, but mostly clean). When I arrived, the guy at the truck scale told me a price that was about 75% lower than I was quoted, pointed to the back of the lot and told me to drive back and unload (no help unloading). After I unloaded, I called the office again and explained the situation, phone guy told me to have scale guy call him. After about 15 or 20 minutes, scale guy came out and gave me a price that was about 45% lower than the phone guy quoted, which I took (I was getting hungry by this time). I've been to salvage companies that were more friendly and helpful unloading... maybe I got them on an off day. If I give them another try, I'll make sure I eat first so I have enough energy to deal with that nonsense. read more

Dropped a dumpster off cost wasnt bad 89.00 or something like that. The issue came after they picked up the load full of steal 4 to 8 tons they tell me i wasnt getting paid im out my time to load the 40 yard and the steal they told me they would pay me for. I wouldnt recomend doing buisness with them if you do be sure ur paid right away so they dont have meetings to decide if there gonna screw you. Im out like 1000.00 atleast. Kicking people while there down is never good buisness esp after we just lost everything in a fire. read more

This place has all kinds of surplus metal and other materials in good condition. A lot of it was brand new stuff that was probably left over from some other construction jobs. I found a sample of what I needed at the service desk, paid for it, and went out back to pick it up. I waited about 10 minutes before I realized no one was going to help me pick up my product - - which was too heavy for this 70-year-old guy. The material was on the ground with a receipt. One of the employees saw me struggling with it and he came over and helped me. There is all kinds of metal construction type stuff that you would never find in Home Depot or Lowe's. They also buy scrap metal by the pound. read more

They're response time to my emails was faster than expected and they were extremely helpful with identifying what my needs were. Because of this I went with them over a competitor who was less responsive. When I made the trip to their phoenix location to place my order it was fast and easy. The materials I needed were much less expensive than what I had expected and they offered delivery at very reasonable rates. Even the delivery went great- they were there the day they said they would be, called in advance to let me know they were on their way and quickly unloaded everything.
