I was looking for a recycling center that accepts soda cans, soda glass bottles and plastic water bottles. This place only accepted my soda cans. They just don't accept plastic or glass bottles here. This place looks like a dump but the customer service is very fast and efficient. Most of the workers here are Spanish speaking so hopefully you can make out what they tell you. My Spanish is Sykes rusty so I only understood 5% of what they said. All in all, this was a pleasant experience. Obviously, you're not gonna get rich by recycling anything but it does give you some pocket change to maybe buy a lottery ticket or two. I don't recall what the exact redemption value was for bringing in your unwanted cans for cash but I got around 50 cents for maybe 1.5 lbs of soda cans. Almost enough for a $1 lottery scratcher. The workers here will unload your trunk for you and weigh it all and than give you the proper amount of money. Fast service and you don't even need to lift a finger besides opening your trunk that is. I'm from Hawaii and back home, you can actually pay a utility bill or cell phone bill with your recycling money. Started getting yelled at before I even got out of my car because of where I parked. No specific indication as to where or in front of what dumpster they want you to park, but apparently they think that you should be able to read their minds. Both workers older man with white hair ponytail and young man with earbuds in, rude and condescending the moment i pulled in yelling to park a certain way. Young man mentions changing how i parked to allow for up to 5 trucks to unload at the same time, yet I was the only truck there. Older man driving forklift almost hit my truck backed right up into it without checking mirrors. Was apologetic but in too much of a hurry while hauling steel containers on the forklift. Offloaded 5 lead acid batteries from a battery backup UPS system from a server rack, they will not pay for these highly recyclable lead acid batteries fyi. 5 batteries at 50lbs a piece and i left with nothing but rude service and almost a dent in my truck rear door. Nnnnjust another scam of a place ... I had (2) boxes of perfectly organized material for insulated #1 copper which was thick 6 gauge - 12 gauge wire / then a box of insulated #2 wire which was all 18 gauge single solid copper ... I called in before and was quoted the basic prices like around $1.80 for #1 and around $1.00 for the #2... the guy goes through both boxes and didn't have a single problem with any of my wire ... I had 25 pounds of #1 and 9 pounds of #2 ... I get a very low offer that I just took and got out of there . I get in the car and look at receipt and for my #1 he gives me $1.23 a pound which is .60 cheaper a pound i don't get and for the #2 he gives me .32 a pound .. again .70ish off a pound .... I know I didn't bring in a truck load but he almost cut my take home pay by 50% ... There all like this... I even declared to him that I had a box of #1 and #2 insulated organized and he said "yuppp sure is" yet rings me up for something much cheaper and gets on his way... I'm convinced that these people have a system where they collect the difference at the end of the day for the material they collect ... if he collects say 20 pounds of #1 from me and pays me $1.23 . Then he could go back and collect the extra .67 a pound for each pound for himself at the end of the day ... and do this for every customer in his 8 hours shift ... think if it like a tip jar ... cause 90% of the recycle yards do this... when you call they quote you something way higher but the people who weigh the items put in something way lower ... the difference has to be going somewhere ... read more

This was my first and last time to go there. For bags of clean aluminum cans, crushed, they paid $0.25 pound. I had like 40 pounds of cans, and it cost me more in gas to drive there than I got for the cans. All future cans will instead make the 50 foot trip to my recycle bin instead. I also agree with the others that say they are a bit rude. I drive up and they want me to turn sideways so they can fit in "all the other cars." When I was there, I was the only car. read more

This was my first time ever turning in metal and it was such a good experience! We went at 8:00am on a Monday, and there was no wait. They paid 40 cents per lb, so I ended up getting 12 dollars for about 6 bags of cans. It's not much, but when it's so easy to collect them and drop them off, it's worth it. The guys were SO nice too. Couldn't have had a better experience or service. First time ever I decided to save all my cans, so for the past 10 months I crushed and bagged all my cans. I estimated about 5-10 pounds in weight but decided to load them all up and clear them out of the garage. Drove in, waited for about 2 minutes for one of the employees to secure a pallet and received prompt courteous attention as he helped me carry the cans out of my car. Being fairly new to the Phoenix area, I did a search for local recyclers. I had only crushed aluminum cans (not like the lot of other non-ferrous stuff I usually need to disposition) so I figured the transaction would be relatively simple. I came across the site for Deer Valley Recycling and it seemed OK. But coming from California, I saw that the aluminum prices were WAY less than I got there. Then on the site I read the "Note on pricing" written by the owner, Stephen Cammllarie. There he explained the local pricing procedures as well as why sometimes people said that they were not getting a high price for their materials. Mr. Cammllarie continued to detail why some practices (which yield higher amounts) are illegal and are to be avoided. After I read this informative, frank, and honest explanation of pricing structures, I made up my mind to go to his business no matter what rate he offered for what I had. In my mind, honesty and fairness in a business puts it miles ahead of the competition. I then went in to drop my cans and told the person who greeted me (who very kindly helped me to park and even carried my bags to the scales) that I was there because of the integrity the owner showed on the website. It turned out to be none other than Mr. Cammllarie! I admit that it was refreshing to see him making the effort along with his coworkers! I asked lots of other questions regarding recycling of different items and - if his business did not accept certain items - he knowledgeably informed me of other reputable businesses in the area that did! To be honest, I did not even ask the rate I was given for my cans. Because at the end of this time (five minutes for the transaction (including only a couple minutes to get there from the 17 exit!) plus 30 minutes for the learning!) I knew that whatever I had received was legal and fair. And for that I am going to keep going back for ALL of my recycling needs. Next time, though, I will remember this (as should you): Please take your cans in in no less than 13-gallon bags. That reduces the time and effort for all involved which results in your getting more return for the time it takes! And appreciate your time there - it is certainly an enjoyable experience! I went there once before and the guy was pretty cool however they didn't pay as much for "insulated 1" as my usual place but he paid more for "Romex." So I decided to go back one more time with a tub of just Romex and this other guy there just had the worst attitude from the start, even had a problem with where I parked! He was incredibly arrogant and condescending through out the entire encounter, did not offer a receipt or even tell me how much I had in weigh, just complained about having to check it all for shielding BOO HOO! This was the best and quickest experience ever. We started out for fun saving our cans and before we knew it we had 6 bags full. I will say we took the time to rinse and smash each one so we didn't get little critter so 6 bags was a lot but they paid $.80 a pound and we took our money and bought a Yeti cooler....Whoo hooo.
