The skiing is good but they need to figure out a better way to get folks off the freeway and into the area. I realize the logistics of this are more complicated than making a better burger or fixing a broken lift. The freeway has a 2 lane exit that runs directly into a stop light. Heaven forbid there's actually decent snow because the traffic is backed up for MILES moving at a snails pace. Die hard skiers will hate my review but if you're from out of town trying to figure out where to go....keep this in mind. I think it took us 1.5 - 2 hours to go a few miles. read more

Haven't been skiing or boarding in a while but coming back to copper was a nice experience. There isn't much snow but somehow the runs weren't very icy which was amazing and there are a good amount of chill runs for just cruising. The resort is pretty large so taking the shuttle to east, central, or west village is recommended. I thought it would be walkable but the village centers are a fair distance apart from each other. For GREEN and other beginner lifts, take Kokomo or American flyer. Some really fun runs and good views. read more

EXCELLENT ADDITION FOR 2019 We need more affordable counter serve establishments like this in Center Village. Here the menu is efficient, 10 items, fountain drinks and beer. The most expensive item is the large lobster Mac at $12.25. BOTTLE NECK: There are only two pans to custom create the items, so the wait can be long. Copper is a great alternative to the "epic" mountains in the area. The lift lines are generally much shorter and the mountain offers a variety of terrain. Base area has a ton of different shops and restaurants for those who don't want to spend all of their time on the slopes. Several options for parking including a couple of free lots via a 5 minute shuttle ride or closer parking from $15-25$ (honestly not worth it.) Negatives of Copper are similar to the top of Breck/any exposed ski area, if it's a windy day the top of the mountain may not be that much fun with limited visibility and blowing winds. Also the new bubble chair is one of my least favorite because of how often it stops. Honestly though, of the Ikon mountains in Colorado Copper is right up there with the best. read more

This place was absolutely beautiful. It was like it's own little ski town. We stayed in Denver but visited here for the mountain coaster. Once arriving the ski area looked amazing they had half pipes, ramps etc. we didn't come to ski/board though because we had done it the day before in Eldora (see previous review). Anywho everyone was super nice which seems to be the Colorado way. Once we purchased our tickets for the coaster, we were told it would open at noon. Well their site said 11 so we had to wait a bit. 1230 they finally told us to line up .. well we were in line for another hour or so and they kept pushing the time back saying they needed to test it a few more times. I would normally give a 2-3 star review for this miscommunication and the wait time but everyone kept us in the loop they were very nice and once we got on it was a lot of FUN!! Def recommended but be prepared to wait if there's tons of snow. read more

We had the best week here. We stayed in an Airbnb in Tucker Mountain Lodge for the week and loved the amenities and how close we were to the mountain. We had a ski locker downstairs and grabbed our rentals from Rebel right there in the village. We used our Arizona Snowbowl season passes to get us 3 days of free skiing here and even hit up Cooper and Loveland for a day each there since we met our quota at Copper without having to pay for lift tickets. The mountain itself has tons to offer. Our daughter just learned to ski greens and is pretty solid now. Our son is a green-blue skier and tore up the mountain. The green areas have tons to offer beginners and those nice, long Colorado greens are what make us come to Colorado! Our greens in Flagstaff are just so short that you spend all your time on the lifts. We loved the terrain parks (even in greens!) and were just so impressed with the options. There are tons of trees to ski through-- my fave. I could get my thrills while still chasing my kids down a mountain. The high speed 6-seater, American Flyer, was awesome and had a snow shield which did become quite helpful during one of the days. They even have a gondola and other high speed lifts. They have something for everyone, even at the top of the mountain. We loved American Flyer to the Rendezvous and then down. It got you above the treeline and was super quiet with breathtaking views. The village itself had tons to offer and plenty of restaurants to fill you for the week. We will definitely return to Copper in the future. It was perfect. read more

Simply put: Don't visit during the summer. Winter activities are decent. They do a bike haul during the summer and don't post trail closings before they sell you a ticket. If you get up there and all the decent trails are closed, too bad. If you get up there and all the trails are rained out for the day, too bad. They won't refund you no matter the experience. Even if you only get one ride up the lift before they shut everything down, nope, you're out of luck. No rain check, no reimbursement, no nothing. The staff at the Central Village ticket counter is as indifferent as can be. They won't help you after they take your money. read more

This has got to be the most underrated ski destination. Now, I'm not a pro when it comes to going down the mountains and I haven't been to some of the bigger resorts, but there are some real great things about Copper Mountain: Close to Denver. Great for family vacation or beginners - there is a great learning area and there are also a good bit of green routes. I generally like to stay on the green routes or maybe an easy blue, but I get sick of only having a couple main routes to go down (Keystone). I felt like I had a lot more green route options compared to Keystone. It's not one of the big named resorts and so you don't have the same crowds to deal with. Multiple times while there we heard people talking about how packed Breckinridge was and how long the lift lines were. No long lines at Copper Mountain! Staff were all very nice. I found the buses to be very reliable. There were several good restaurant options or places to grab a drink. Will definitely go back! Can't say enough good things about Copper Mountain. We even met some locals that were impressed with us finding Copper Mountain because it doesn't get much name recognition for people that aren't really into skiing/snowboarding or from the area; they were of the opinion that Copper Mountain is the best mountain. read more

Copper Mountain is a wonderful snow skiing resort for many reasons, but I'm going to speak to the experience of the once-per-year Texan skier. We usually go to New Mexico for our annual Christmas-time trip, but this year we had a whole week off at Thanksgiving and we needed to find a resort that would already be open with runs we could actually ski. Thanks to On the Snow (an awesome website & app for researching ski resorts; see http://www.onthesnow.com/open_resorts_all.html), we found Copper and loved what we saw: + a resort that was easy to reach from Denver (unlike our usual harrowing, icy, rural, mountain drives from Albuquerque up to Angel Fire or Red River); + the most reasonable lift ticket prices around ($69/day with a 3 of 5 days pass; less for kids, and even less with a seasonal Four Pack deal); + a mountain that had a variety of terrain difficulty, with lots of green slopes for our group of perpetual beginners (see the trail map here: http://www.coppercolorado.com/winter/the_mountain/trail_map/1617_TrailMap_SmallWebPDF.pdf); and + a reputation as being a "locals" type of place, meaning (hopefully) fewer tourists and less hassle. We reserved a room for a very reasonable rate via Airbnb at The Lodge at Copper, a condo complex in the Center Village just a few yards away from the American Flyer lift, which services the green sloped side of the mountain. We ordered our lift tickets online for the best prices and waited with excitement for our trip. The drive over from Denver (after two days of lessons at Snobahn Indoor Ski gym) was easy as could be, since we were coming in on a Monday morning. From what we've heard, the weekend & holiday traffic on I-70 can be a nightmare and we were thankful to avoid that. We stopped for groceries at City Market in Dillon and made it to Copper by 10:30am. Sadly, we just happened to travel during the warmest fall they have had in years and the opening of the mountain had been delayed by a week, meaning very few runs open at Copper during our stay. In fact, on our first day of skiing, only 1 lift was running, American Eagle, and the only terrain available was an advanced blue with some very steep and icy sections. We attempted it the first day, but quickly realized we were out of our league and would need to make other arrangements if we wanted to ski. Luckily, Loveland Ski Area just a few miles back toward Denver had green slopes open for us and that's where we did the rest of our skiing for this trip. Other than having no green slopes open during our early season trip, Copper met or exceeded all of our other expectations. The place was not overrun with tourists, the shops and restaurants were pleasant and not overpriced compared to what we usually see in NM. We will definitely be coming back in the future when the American Flyer is running and those easy slopes are available for ski-in/out from The Lodge. read more

First of all; I do love Copper Mountain, the mountain that is-- great terrain and such-- but the current management leaves alot to be desired. I bought a 4-pack last year and couldn't use it due to COVID-19 and they callously refused any kind of refund or extension. It's often overcrowded, icy, and covid precautions are being poorly enforced. Workers often seem under-trained and noncommital, and as a former employee I can't blame them for being less than stoked about their wages or mgmt. Copper will always be a great mountain, but the current attitude seems to be all about the bottom line-- lift tickets are now $189, which is more than even Aspen. And yet at Aspen, you get less crowds, nicer facilities, and better attitudes... read more

Mountain Melt had all the hype from everyone on the mountain. The line was out the door and the wait was about 30 minutes just to order, not even at prime lunch time. I waited in the line because of the great feedback and reviews. Even the people in line were raving about which mac was their favorite. I figured this must be good, so my expectations were high. I ordered the southwestern Mac, recommended by the woman working at the front of the order line. You go down a line and then pay, and wait for your order number to be called from behind the bar. Mine took a while, longer than some of the meals ordered after I ordered. It was long enough that the people behind the counter asked what my friend and I had ordered though and apologized for the delay. I'm assuming my meal had an element that took longer to prepare and that's fine. Finally, got the mac, and was very excited to try it. I was less than amazed by it. I was expecting cheesy, gooey deliciousness with lots of flavor, but it didn't seem much more than mac ordered from any other restaurant. The flavor was ok, not to the level everyone and reviews made it out to be. Maybe this is just me, because my friends who ate here loved it, but it was less than stellar in my opinion. It was average; just mac with things added in it like something that could be made at home. For a place in a ski resort, ok. But when it's specializing in mac and cheese, I was expecting better food. The seating is very little- a small bar seating area inside. The rest of the seating is outside, so if it's snowing a lot or very cold, you may be eating standing up or find yourself looking for another place to sit and eat. Overall, it was ok. It was mac, they delivered on that- but the hype, wait, and the must try status? Not in my opinion. Only if you're really craving mac and cheese enough to wait for a mixed version of it rather than the classic, then come try this. read more

Copper is my family's go-to ski mountain for over 15 years! I've been carried down in a stretcher after a bad fall here, had heartwarming dates with high school crushes here, made memories with my dad here... All in all, it holds a special place in my heart. Skiing is a passion of mine. My grandpa is a German ex-pro ski racer so you can bet he put all of his children and grandchildren on skis as soon as we all could stand. Of course, one of the best things about living in CO is being able to take day trips to the mountains all season long. With my friends, we often go to Vail or Mary Jane as part of their "Epic Pass," but Copper will always be my favorite. Lift tickets everywhere are certainly getting expensive, costing $120+ daily no matter where you go. For short trips like I usually do, Copper offers a "Four Pack," four lift tickets at a discount which is usually perfect. When it comes to terrain, Copper offers plenty of variety in runs whether you're a beginner or expert. For those expert skiers and boarders, it's easy to stay in advanced terrain without having to cross over to where it might be a little more crowded with tourists and those learning. On powder days, the back bowls are amazing and the glades all the more fun! There are three villages that have plenty of restaurants and places to grab a bite for lunch or dinner. The Copper Station at the bottom of the Super Bee offers lots of lunch specials and is usually our go-to. I got a veggie burger on my last visit and it was quite tasty! If you don't like skiing, there is a great tubing hill, as well. All in all, I truly love Copper! I think it's one of the friendliest, perfectly sized ski resorts in the area and definitely a great choice for anyone regardless of level. read more

Honestly, I don't know what my husband was thinking when he signed me up for snowboard lessons. I think I'm the bigger dummy for saying "yes". But I have to say, I checked the box-and I'll never do it again. On the other hand, my kids loved it! Signing up for lessons is easy-we actually had some ski lessons for the kids and my husband was told by a friend to try snowboarding. The school was super flexible and even though we had already paid for ski classes they were super accommodating and changed them over with absolutely no hassle. Once you get to the school you check in on their computer system and there was no wait. I would recommend if you have time to get everything ready the night before. We had actually contemplated it but ran out of time. It will save you time and it gets you out on the hills quicker. You'll have paperwork to sing and you'll have to get fitted for your board. We had private lessons with an instructor who was super patient and sweet with my boys. The nice thing was we got a ride all the way to the bunny hill so no walking. They do have a magic carpet, but it must have been on another hill? Anyway, I quickly learned that snowboarding was not for me. It was exhausting and I prefer to to ski. The most painful part was wearing the boots-they were so tight and the board was awkward. Like I told my husband, "What do I look like some 20 year old college kid?" Not for me, but if you have tween kids this is the best place to get them lessons for skiing and snowboarding. The slopes here are perfect for beginners. They have a huge area for grabbing some delicious food with lots of choices from hamburgers to pizza to salads. If you go during a busy season its chaotic and they have some outdoor picnic tables to enjoy the gorgeous view of the mountains. Next time we go back you'll find this Bunny on the bunny hill watching my kids get ski lessons. read more

Even my greens felt challenging! Which is awesome!! I am new enough to skiing that an intermediate green run is totally my cup of tea. They were also well marked, so you didn't have to worry about a frightful wrong turn. + The lift lines! We barely had to wait they were so efficient! + The people! All super friendly and courteous. Never thought I was going to get plowed into. + The scenery! Plenty of awesome scenery and spots to take a break with my friends. The only thing I thought was a little strange was that all the runs (at the West Village) seemed to merge into one pretty steep and icy (when we went) run. Even taking the "easy" way down wore out my already tired legs. However, once I knew to expect it I was a-okay! I will totally be back next season!! read more

This is a tourist spot. Its great snowboarding, not much trick stands & all.... still prefer brenkenridge or other local places with restaurants & walking places. There are different Plazas or resorts within Coppermountain. They're all owned or managed by same people. Mountain Plaza Right by the Lift, In the middel of the village. Restaurant within Mountain Plaza - Endo Restaurant & Bar. Amenities: Its okay but still nicer than motels. Cabin like hotel. Management is at the Copper Mountain Plaza. There is spa & sauna. At first, we were hesitant about going to a less well known ski resort, but everyone we asked was very enthusiastic about Copper Mountain. In fact, Vail would've probably been a very bad idea for me, as a beginner skier, because 55% of Vail's trails are blacks. For beginners, Copper Mountain has the huge advantage of being split up by trail type. All the blacks are on the east side of the mountain, blues and harder greens are in the middle, and easier greens are on the west. If it's important for you to not mistakenly end up on a black diamond, you'll really appreciate that you can't take a wrong turn off the ski lift and find yourself in over your head. It also means you can get in some really long runs since you're able to go all the way to the top of the mountain on greens. And if you're an advanced skier, there are plenty of steep and narrow trails to keep you busy. Actually, one of the ski instructors told me that a harder green here is the equivalent of a blue in Breckenridge. Something about the rating being based off the grade at that specific resort? We went on MLK weekend, and although we waited in lines until about noon on Saturday, they magically disappeared after that point. I'm not exaggerating when I say that they disappeared - I never had more than 8 people in front of me. I think I would've gotten in a lot fewer runs at Vail or Breck. Also, there were many times that I was the only person I could see on the trail - which is great if you're worried about an out of control person crashing into you. The instructors were also super friendly and in huge abundance. At the base of the mountain, there were over 15 instructors just waiting to help you. Apparently this is one of the ways Copper Mountain tries to distinguish itself. And the final great thing about Copper Mountain was the price. Go onto ebay or Craig's List and buy yourself a buy 1 get 1 free coupon (about $6). A full day lift ticket for MLK weekend was $118, so we basically spent $124 for 2 tickets! We pay much more than that on the East Coast for much crappier trails. There is one thing I must regretfully knock Copper Mountain for. We skied there 2 days, and the snow was great the first day. But the second day, it was groomed in a way that made the snow hard and unpleasant. This issue went away by noon though, as more people skied the slopes. read more

Copper has always been one of my favorites off the I-70 corridor. It's got a variety of terrain, large enough that you can head to the back and be a little secluded. The 3 villages are great, plenty of restaurants and things to choose from. It can get touristy but never as bad as Breck or Vail. The events they hold are fun, like this past opening weekend they had music, raffles, etc. They also host the Courage Classic bike race in the summer which I participated in. Really great race for the children's hospital, well organized and so convenient to be able to stay there. read more

I can't speak for what other previous reviewers experienced but while I was there-I actively SAW a gentleman working there wiping everything down. It looked spotless to me. 4)Best mac-n-cheese in the WORLD? ...who knows but it was a heck of a lot better than anything I have ever made so check that box,too. 5) Pricey but you are eating in the Mtns so bust open that wallet because it is what it is.... We would absolutely eat here again-everyone loved it.....Even a couple riding the elevator with me commented on how great the takeout smelled.... Rode here a lot during the season 2015-16. Once last year too on a whim. Did the Christy Sports four pass for $150 and they tossed in another day. Normally $120 a day at the window so a steal. What I love about Copper is how the mountain in divided by skill. Left are the blacks. Middle the blues. Right the greens. You won't find someone on the wrong lift or run out of their skill. Staff is friendly and the maps and signage are clearly marked. Free parking so that's a plus. Not everyone does that. Bus over to the main village or whatever you plan to go. Plenty of food, shops, rental areas, and well as gear shops for tune ups. Lot of diversity run wise. Lately I had chosen a few specific runs and exhausted all the side trails. Spent a day or two with that and didn't get bored to be honest. Try and get on a faster lift up because a few of the slower ones really eat up your riding time. Parks here have a lot of features. S, M, L parks denote the general size of the features. Tree runs. Snow cat if you're into that. Lot of kids though. Lessons and families so on a weekend prepare for crying kids. Especially on the right side of the mountain. Part of a resort but I noticed it more here than others. On the bright side if you are a family this is your spot. Family visited from Florida so I took a lesson with my younger brother. Well worth the price plus a lift ticket is added for a small fee. Otherwise you are stuck on a few smaller (beginner) lifts. Instructor was awesome and it helped a lot. Toss your kids in a school and ride a bit with your partner. read more

I had a BLAST here! I did the tubing and the rocky mountain coaster. I was visiting Denver from New Orleans and wanted to do a day trip to the mountains. We parked in the Alpine lot, which is free, and took the shuttle to the East village where the tubing hill was. They had a good bit of people but not a lot. I went down that hill about 6 times within the hour. You can go down solo or link up with somebody. I had two friends with me so we went down together a few times. After we got done tubing, we stopped by a little coffee shop (the name escapes me) and I got a really good irish coffee. Then we headed over to the roller coaster, which went way faster than I expected and you go down solo so it was quite a thrill. I would love to come back and take my nieces and nephews and do some skiing or snowboarding. It was a great experience. read more

Center village is a great to place once the Center Lifts are open. As of this writing, they are still not working and no opening date given every time I ask. You must shuttle from center village to East or West village, but can ski back. Lots of restaurants to chose from for meals and snacks. Downside is Starbucks doesn't open till 7! The only one I have ever seen that opens this late! Recommend Copper One as it is literally at the American Eagle Lift. read more

We bought the copper mountain summer family pass and the only thing worth anything is the alpine roller coaster. We rode it twice and it took us 1.5hrs of wait time (30min first time at 10am and 1hr starting at 1115). The mountain has signs for masks and social distancing but people are just oblivious. We had two families from Kansas with 11 kids ahead and behind us who were non compliant with masks and disregarded any personal space requirements, so have that in your mind when you consider it. The bumper boats are useless unless you are 3 and under because older kids don't enjoy the slow moving deflated bumper boats in a shallow mud ditch. I'd just get the roller coaster tickets instead of the family pass. read more

What a disappointing experience. Taking the family to ride the Rocky Mountain coaster at Copper Mountain resort. The website says you can buy tickets up till 4pm for said coaster ride. I got to the guest service counter and they informed me that they stopped selling tickets at 3:30 pm. Not only was my family disappointed but the guest service personal were very rude and uncooperative. I talked to several other staff members and got the same response from them. I know I am only one person, but I planning on telling family and friends about how rude the staff at Copper Mountain treated me. read more

Love Copper Mountain and enjoyed some great runs and friendly helpful staff. However, DO NOT take your ski or board to the Fix Tune Shop and Gear check. I had my bindings adjusted with them. When I fell later that day and rolled my skis did not pop off. Now I have a complete ACL rupture, a partial MCL tear and a bone marrow contusion. Ski patrol was also friendly and helpful... but when I said I didn't rent my skis at Copper but did have them adjusted the subject was changed quickly. read more

Me and my family have enjoyed skiing at copper for the past 14 years, we travel from Texas and stay on the mountain in their lodging at least 3-4 times a year. In total this cost us over $30,000 a year for the past 14 years. Yesterday I went into the camp hale store in center village and bought a pair of heated gloves from them. They agreed that if I placed my gloves I was wearing in the box they would hold them till the end of day for me so I could continue to ski without them. My nephew picked them up that evening and the employee opened the box and handed him my gloves and kept the box. He kept the box with my charger in it. #raisedoncolorado indeed. Copper is considered a more local ski resort and is definitely in my top 3 places to ski. Copper has a large free parking lot, the alpine lots, and if that's full, the Far East lot. From there you can take one of the free shuttles to the mountain. What I love about Copper is anyone of all levels can easily find what they need. Copper is divided into 3 main villages: East (advanced), Central (intermediate), West (beginner). But it is easy to ski from one village to the other. One of Coppers best "hidden" deals is its Ski and Snowboard University. If you're an adult who's never skied nor snowboarded, this is an amazing deal. It's less than $250 for 3 days of lessons, and you get a free season pass after. You also get next seasons pass half off! Now onto my favorite runs. If you're a beginner but want an amazing view of a bowl, take American flyer lift to rendezvous. If you got a more advanced buddy, they can go on Sierra instead of Rendezvous. This lets you stay in the middle of the mountain and avoid the lines at the bottom. Can just take Coppertone down when you want to get to the bottom. Soliloquy is nice long green run, there's a small flat area in the middle you'd need to pick up speed for. For more advanced skiers and boarders, go to east village and stick with superbee. A lot less people and it leads to some great runs like Andy's encore and Rosie's run.
