Shopping in Boston is pretty bleak. If you've been to the Barney's in New York, you know this is barely comparable to the Co-op in Soho. I suppose if I were living in Boston, I'd come here, but still, I think I'd rather hop on a bus and go to New York for shopping and I don't even think NYC shopping is that great... Ok, so it's probably unfair to hold NYC as the standard for Boston reviews, but it's only natural right? This mall feels like the midpoint between a suburban hell hole and the midtown Fifth Avenue in NYC [that's not exactly a positive either...]. Plus, the exterior of the mall and the surrounding area is just aesthetically unpleasant. As far as actual shopping goes, the selection is depressing. Neiman Marcus and Barney's both had stock that are considerably limited compared to their NY counterparts [well, for Barney's]. read more

This was the mall to hang out at during my high school years. And no, none of my friends and I could afford anything designer back then. You see, Copley Place used to be less high-end and more approachable. There used to be a bookstore where Intimacy and Burberry was. Waldenbooks, it was called. It was the perfect spot to pick up a book and read while you waited for friends to show up. Now that same spot where you pulled out a book is probably being used to display those ultra high-end bras. And Barney's? That used to be the cinema. One by the one they disappeared and transformed into the Copley Place that now stands. They closed the stores and the cinema but didn't really bother to update the rest of the mall, which still, by the way, looks the same from when I was three. Those railings, those benches, that waterfall. Heck, probably even those plants. All the shops that appeal to me are on the second floor and by appeal, I mean the ones I can afford to shop at. The second floor is definitely not as crowded, but there are barely any places to sit down when you've tired your feet from browsing. There are probably 4 benches up there that can sit about 3 people each. Even on the main floor with the waterfall, you'll see people congregated there with their fancy shopping bags but probably less than half of them have a seat. I guess that is one way to keep them inside the shops and spending money. I guess I have a love-hate relationship with this mall. Had some great high school memories and now it's just not the same anymore. read more

8/17/19 visited on the way to an event. Walked through. As previously mentioned they have had a turn over of stores, Gucci, Ferragamo all the high ends folks on the first floor. Victoria's Secret, J. Crew and soon to be opened J.Jill 2nd floor. The escalators all seem to be working now. Still have seating area outside Barney's, gray with sparkle fabric, there is a concierge desk to help book tickets/tourists and for gift cards, etc. Visited the LR/en route both directions, very clean. No more pushcarts which I think helps elevate it, although I miss waterfall fountain--confused w/out landmark on navigation, etc. If you want the walkway bridge to Prudential Mall/look for Tiffany's. If you want the exit for backbay station look for Nieman Marcus. read more

There hasn't been a time I've been in Boston where I haven't stopped in Copley. Usually we find something to eat or we find something we must buy in one of the many stores located here. This last trip this past weekend forced us to buy another piece of luggage for everything we bought at the various stores. Very clean inside, security has a noticeable presence and very nice. Copley is also very centrally located in the city with several T stops, and you can connect to the MBTA Backbay station through a tunnel. Copley has some of the best Upscale shopping anywhere globally we've traveled, and we make routine monthly trips to stop by here. read more

Love the different stores they have here. Although parking is so hard to find if you're not trying to pay $30 for parking. I usually never go here unless I want to get something luxurious so if you're looking to shop for casual things I wouldn't recommend here unless you wanna go window shopping. They have small stands that sells different things and a small sweets shop which has a big choice of chocolates to choose from. Mall is clean which is great considering they are located in a very busy city and tons of people and dogs enter the building. Bathrooms aren't that clean but it wasn't horrible. read more

Oh yeah!!!! If you can hit the subway or if like us you happen to be staying in a hotel within a short walking distance then this is a place to explore. Oh sure it is full of ritzy stores but even they sometimes have great sales. I had a great time exploring and going into stores that aren't back home like Barneys, Neimans, and Dior to name a few. And DON'T get me started on the shoe selections in here - swoon! If that shirt in NM had been in my size I would've been a very happy camper but as it was I'm going to see if I can find it online. read more

Shop at the connecting prudential center instead of here! (just to avoid dealing with crazy security people who will randomly hassle you! ) I was there with my family on New Years Eve, and while we were going up the escalator, I had taken out my camera to take a picture of them. When I reached the top of the escalator, I was approached by two security guards warning me that I am not allowed to use cameras or take photos in the mall at anytime. WTF? Otherwise the shops are your typical newbury st-like stores, but the walkways here have a very bad vibe.... read more

This is probably the best mall in Boston. This has the designer name brands that most of us strive for (at least in the superficial West Coast) such as Louis Vuitton and Mont Blanc. The only thing this place is missing is a Nordstrom. I'm surprised Simon Properties hasn't added this department store yet. If they do, I can see so many women blowing more of their husbands' money here. The interior is well kept and the store portfolio is great. There are many wings and places that this mall breaks off into, such as the Prudential Center/building or Marriott hotel. There is also a nifty skybridge that connects the two halves of both malls. This mall also has a Cheesecake Factory, Barnes & Noble, and a CPK. All these stores in one location reminds me of shopping malls back in Southern California. I was very impressed with having an Orange Line station right at the entrance of the Copley Place center as well. This is very convenient and a great move by the mall owner. I will definitely have to come back and be sure to pick up some new items, as the sales tax on clothing here is low. I always needed a new belt... read more

Okay yeah, the stuff is expensive and high-end but yipppee! now i know where to shop!! They have a great selection of stores, (yes some expensive) BUT if you go in the store and actually look when they have sales you can get away with some GREAT deals! If you're like me and love shopping, and happen to have some money to spend, you'll love this place. Some great stores include: Louis Vuitton Barney's Neiman's BCBG! (love it) J.Crew Banana Republic Express Song Well there are a ton of more stores but those are just to name a few. Yeah, yeah, i know that Cambridgeside Place has some of the same stores like J.Crew and BR and Express...but this mall has some great pros that Cambridgeside Place just can't offer: High-end stuff if thats what you're looking to buy CLEAN-er Quiet Environment NO lame teeny-boppers flooding the mall Not as crowded as the "normal mall" So, if you enjoy spending the day shopping I totally recommend this place. Barney's, Neiman's, Jimmy Choo, Theory.... and the list goes on. I get giddy thinking about it. I love this mall for so many reasons: I can T it here from my house, or if I want I can quickly drive here and get robbed on the price of parking. To me $500 shoes... TOTALLY worth it! $50 on parking.. bullshit. I don't know call me crazy - my priorities are out of whack. it is what it is. Some people think spending a day wandering around shopping looking at clothes and shoes is heaven (me) - others (bf) would rather stab themselves in the eye than walk around any mall for more than 5 minutes. So if you are like me and enjoy perusing a mall for several hours this is the perfect place to do that. There's plenty of stores for everyone - it has lots of great high-end stores and mixes in some not so expensive places as well. There a few places to eat, and the sky way goes over to the Prudential Center mall for even more shopping and food. This mall is perfect for a rainy day like today - when you want to go out, but stay inside as much as possible. That's where I'm going after I finish this review. read more

I have lived in Boston for years and never went to Copley Place until this week! It was so clean, chic and beautiful here, with lots of stores. If you are familiar with NYC, I would easily compare the decor and shopping of Copley Place to the shops at Columbus Circle - the vibe is similar and the way the escalators and such are set up are almost exactly the same. The stores that I went to when I was here were super clean and the employees were really friendly, so I would definitely recommend coming here! read more

Of all the malls in all the land, I'll take Copley. Thank you very much. Full disclosure: I'm not much of a mall person. I don't like that there are no windows, no natural light, no clocks and no reminder that there is a world outside of malls. However, this mall makes it a little easier to take because THIS mall has amazing shops with classy salespeople and a, shall we say, less scary clientele than many malls I have frequented. With shops like Vince, Barney's, etc you know you're getting into a slightly higher-end atmosphere which in turn leads to a quieter, more civilized experience. The mall is also several levels, making it easier to navigate and less of a cavernous space. The shops seem to be grouped together by price point/tier, which is very clever. The lighting is nice, too -- it's much softer and less glaring than the usual fluorescent atrocities that make us all look like zombies and act like them, too. Copley Mall actually came to my rescue a few weeks ago when I was caught in Boston in the rain. It opened it doors and coddled me like a warm coat on a cold day, and I happily perused one shop after the other until it was time to depart. Bonus: it's attached to The Prudential Center, which is mighty convenient. Of course, this is Boston so parking is nightmarish. However, it's located very near the Back Bay T station, so that makes things a little easier unless of course you're toting lots of bags upon departure ;). read more

This is such a great area to go shopping in Boston! Between the malls (copley AND the pru) and Newbury Street, you should be able to find whatever you may need whether it is a Chanel purse or an Urban Outfitters scarf. One tip: if a sales clerk doesn't treat you well, move on and buy the item at another store and/or at another time. I think this applies to any shopping experience, but particularly in this area since part of the beauty of visiting Copley Place is that with so many high end stores and high-end prices in the vicinity, there should be high end service! read more

Def. has more stores then the Pru that are worth your time, but I loved both the same for different reason. Copley has more shops, but the Pru allows for convenient access to more shopping places (like Newbury and Boylston), and has a food court. I pretty much considered the Pru and Copley to be the same thing instead of two different entities. read more

This is the place to go if you're looking for a high-cost shopping experience. But it's definitely nice (and free) to walk around in! I really liked this place back in the day when there was a movie theatre. It was the hangout spot after school and on the occasional weekend to watch the biggest movies to hit the screen. Then afterwards we would go to Chili's right next door, which is now not in existence either. The mall has become filled with costly stores (Banana Republic, Armana Exchange, Louis Vutton, etc...) which is nice to walk into and look around and buy a special someone, yknow........a really expensive white, plain t-shirt. But still, definitely a cool spot to walk around and pass through. Best place to pass through during the winter and hide from Boston's cold for a bit to get to Prudential, or the other side of the Copley area! read more

I never went here really because I think of this as the "expensive" mall that I should just avoid. However, since I avoided it so much I never knew that they had some reasonable stores in there! Bath & Body Works? J. Crew? Gap? Victoria's Secret? Sweet! This is especially useful when I get gifts as many tend to be from these stores. A place to exchange stuff that's not far from my home. I haven't yet decided if working across the street from Copley is a good thing, or a terrible thing. I love this place, the store selection, restaurants, nearby area as a whole. I like that there's a good mix of high end & "regular" stores. Bottom level has LV, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany, Stuart Weitzman, Dior, to name a few. 2nd level has JCrew, BR, Max Studio, Vicky's, Nine West, among others. Love the arrival of Barney's, anytime I've having a particularly bad day at work, I can pop over here for a mood adjustment, no problem. Have I shopped at any of these stores? No. But I don't shop much, so don't read into that answer. But I've watched some games and drank some beer at Champions, which is always a great time. I've had business calls in the comfort of the Marriott convention space lobby while drinking Starbuck from downstairs. Why 5-stars then? Because the BEST thing about Copley Place is that it's a great way to cut from Boylston near Mass Ave to Dartmouth and Columbus (assuming you go through the Pru first, unless you go the opposite direction and reverse these instructions). Definitely huge when the weather is crappy during the winter, or the air conditioning is a welcome break from the hot and humid summers. read more

Nice upscale mall located across from Prudential Center and the Copley subway station. Caters to all your upscale needs with boutiques ranging from Chanel and Louis Vuitton to Salvatore Ferragamo, Dior and even Moncler. They even have mid range names like J. Crew, Gap and Sur La Table. Legal Sea Foods is the only sit down eatery here. For quick service there's an Au Bon Pain at the Stuart St. Skybridge plus a chocolate shop at the Prudential Center Skybridge. Very nice interior design as well especially with the luxurious storefronts. read more

Very artsy hotel!!! The service was amazing. When the airline lost my luggage the concierge as soon as I told him set me up with everything I needed. The next day he approached me very concerned and wanted to ensure he do anything to expedite me finding my suitcase that Jet Blue lost !!! What service!!! The rooms were great! read more

When I first moved to Boston a couple of years ago, I used to be at the Copley all the time. "Oh my god," I would exclaim, "look at all of the amazing, super expensive stores!!!" Boy, how the times have changed. The thing(s) about Copley is(are): 1. I don't think I've ever been in a mall that is this stuffy. Man, does it get hot in hurr. 2. It's, especially the lower level, almost all upscale clothing stores. If you don't have money, don't go! 3. It's got a lot of great clothing stores, but the problem is the clothing stores they do have are all limited because of their size.. which is why I'd much prefer to be shopping on Newbury St. 4. It's pretty to be in. You either feel really rich walking through it, or really poor because you feel dirty from all the security guard staring you down. 5. I mean, it's got a Barney's Neiman Marcus, and a bunch of other stores, so you can't complain too much. It's connection to the Pru is super convient, and if I'm ever bored and feel like watching tourist be hilariously clueless, this place is my jam. read more

What a fun place to shop around - very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. The candy store in here actually had a great sugar free selection, and I still love Boston's 0% sales tax on clothes (compared to Chicago's 9% sales tax) so shopping here is always a steal. Their food court is decent and stores here are a bit more on the higher scale of things ie you're going to pay more, mostly because they have stores like Tiffany's, Williams-Sonoma, Gucci, Armani, Coach, etc. Also - if you purchase something and you drove (I know - public transit is so much better though), make sure that you get it validated and it's very worth it if you're there any longer than 45 minutes and less than 5 hours. Parking is $10 with a validated purchase (even with a $5 purchase from the candy store) read more

In principal, I cant rate a mall higher than 3 stars. But Copley has it all when you are looking for haute couture: Gucci, Dior, Ferragamo, Vuitton, Tiff's, Choo, Burberry, etc. Aesthetically it isnt displeasing, and because of the exclusionary nature and price tags of the vendors, it tends to not be crowded. If you or the missus have some deep pockets, or just like a good window shopping sesh, you cant go wrong. read more

A perfect place for some shopping during our visit to Boston, Copley Place had plenty of haute corture shops mixed with necessities like Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, and Banana Republic. My friends and I were there during the summer clearance in June, so pretty much every place had a sale going on. Stuart Weitzman was our biggest draw to the mall, but we also took advantage of grabbing some new threads at a few shops, plus getting some anti-bac from Bath & Body Works for the rest of our travels. Surprisingly, it was only $0.25! While most of the places in this mall are pricey, it's definitely a good place to check out during sale season. Even if you're not into high fashion, there are some retail boutiques for you too. read more

My only complaint about this mall is that it doesn't LOOK like a five-star mall. The interior is pretty crappy (OK, minus the waterfall thingie in the middle). I've been to some super NICE malls in my life, and this just isn't one of them. However, the mall itself is great! I don't know how you can go wrong with the selection of stores here. Granted, buying anything at any of the stores here will probably cause you to foreclose on your house (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry, Dior, Hugo Boss, Tiffany, Iridesse, Ferragamo, David Yurman, Mont Blanc, Karen Millen, Elie Tahari, Neiman Marcus, etc.). However, if money is not an obstacle, shop your little heart out! For those of us who are slightly more budget-conscious, there are some affordable mall-staple stores as well (Banana Republic, GAP, VS, J. Crew, Express, FCUK, Armani Exchange, Nine West). The parking lot is expensive, small, cramped, kinda smelly, and difficult to navigate. Try to get your parking ticket validated or you will end up paying like $26 for 3 hours! (it's $10 with validation) Oh wait, I have one more complaint -- lack of food choices! My favorite place here used to be Chili's, but that was closed, so the only place left is Legal Seafood (which is kind of redundant considering there's another one in the Pru, a few hundred yards away).
