This was by far one of the most unprofessional and disorganized venues I have ever experienced. Our book club chose this venue for our annual event because we intentionally support and highlight Black-owned businesses throughout Houston. Every other business we have partnered with has provided exceptional service and hospitality, making this experience even more disappointing. What was supposed to be a four-hour event quickly turned into a disaster when the power went out approximately two hours in. Despite the significant disruption, there appeared to be little urgency from the owner to resolve the issue or properly address the concerns of our guests. Even more troubling was the owner's behavior toward our group. A room full of women was spoken to in a disrespectful, dismissive, and aggressive manner. Rather than demonstrating professionalism and customer service during an already frustrating situation, the owner chose to respond with hostility when concerns were raised. The interaction left many of us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. To make matters worse, the police were called on our group, which felt completely unnecessary given the circumstances and only added to an already unpleasant experience. What is particularly disappointing is that I had initially been recommending this venue to a family member as a potential wedding venue. However, after witnessing the owner's behavior firsthand and experiencing the way our group was treated, I can no longer recommend this business in good conscience. This venue had an opportunity to make a positive impression, but instead it became a major letdown. Professionalism, accountability, and respect for customers should be the standard, especially when things go wrong. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I will not be returning, and I encourage others to carefully consider their options before booking this venue. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I would not recommend this venue to anyone, even if it were the last venue available. My book club hosted an event at this location, and approximately two hours into the event, the power went out. While power outages are certainly beyond anyone's control, what was completely within the venue's control was how the situation was handled. The manager informed us that a transformer had blown, yet surrounding businesses still had power, which raised concerns about the accuracy and transparency of the information we were given. Rather than communicating openly and professionally, the manager was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional toward our organizers, vendors, and authors--many of whom had traveled to Houston specifically for this event. Instead of showing empathy or attempting to accommodate guests during an unexpected situation, we were told to leave the premises immediately. To make matters worse, vendors and authors were not provided reasonable access or assistance to unload and retrieve their materials. There was no effort to work with us or offer solutions during a difficult situation. Our organization invested significant time, money, and trust into hosting this event at this venue. The lack of professionalism, customer service, and basic courtesy displayed by management was incredibly disappointing and disheartening. read more

The venue itself is beautiful, which is the only reason I am giving any stars at all. Unfortunately, our experience with the owner and several of the services included in our wedding package was extremely disappointing. On the day of our wedding, the owner attempted to change arrangements that had already been agreed upon and paid for. He insisted certain services had never been ordered until we provided receipts and previous text message conversations proving otherwise. No bride should have to spend her wedding day defending contracts and agreements instead of enjoying one of the most important days of her life. To make matters worse, photos were taken for promotional purposes after we had clearly stated that the bride and groom did not consent to any media release or use of our images. Having our wishes disregarded in this way was both frustrating and disrespectful. The food was poor quality and much of it went to waste. Additionally, the cake vendor included in the package failed to return calls or communicate with us, forcing us to purchase an additional cake elsewhere to ensure we actually had one for our wedding. There were many other issues throughout the process, but listing them all would make this review far longer than necessary. What is especially disappointing is that previous reviews describing our experience have reportedly been challenged and removed, making it difficult for potential customers to get an accurate picture of what working with this venue may be like. The venue is undeniably beautiful, but a wedding venue is much more than its appearance. Professionalism, communication, and respect for clients matter just as much. I would not recommend this venue to anyone. My bookclub decided to use this venue for one of our most important events of the year. We scheduled a tour and made the owner aware of what was needed and how things were going to be set up. On the day of the event the owner stated that he was not aware of something of the things that we had already discussed with him. Despite the AC going out 2 hours before our event ended, was very embarrassing as we had author from around the world to come support BGRT. The owner did not try to resolve the issue as she should. We ended up having to close our event down early. Please be aware when considering using this venue for any events. We will never use this venue again, very unprofessional. read more

This place is trash! They are super unorganized and unprofessional. They ran out of food after serving scraps to all the guest. The ac doesn't work, people had to fan themselves because it was so hot. The bride had to constantly speak to the dj, food attendants, bar staff and attendants to fix different things. Don't waste your money here! Find a different place with better service. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. I hosted my wedding this past weekend at this venue and disappointment does not being to describe my experience with this place and Anthony. Long story short this venues AC could not keep up with the capacity of guest (less than 100, when he says the max venue capacity is 150-350) through the whole night of my event. My guests had to fan themselves all night long. He had the decency of showing up with 2 fans 1 hour before the event was over, which he made known was an inconvenience for him. Food vendor which was provided by the venue, ran out of food.. I paid for 100 guests and less than that showed up.. At the end of the night, he accused us multiple times of stealing his equipment... he has no professionalism what so ever. There are multiple ways to communicate without being disrespectful. I could honestly go on and on about our awful experience.. A reply to his comment: If you're going to send an invoice then we will be asking for a refund for the security as I never saw not even one security personnel there. I also paid for cleaning throughout and there was no one picking up. Go check your cameras, I had LESS than 100 people there and you know it which is crazy for you to try to claim that I had more than 100 guests. An event venue should be equipped to handle DJ, mariachi and ALL vendors. Your venue says it's equipped for 350 people. IT IS NOT. That the purpose of me paying you to host an event there. My guest opening and closing doors should not be an issue. You literally cleaned out all the bar, which by the way was dirty when we first arrived, of all your liquor and mixes. You agreed to a rehearsal and said we could bring stuff in. You had a mess of bottles and alcohol there. Your restrooms were dirty which my coordinator told you to please clean. Restrooms have zero ventilation connected to the HVAC system. They were very very hot. I PAID for a crew to set up/decor. YOU told me I had access to the venue since 10 am. Again, instead of taking accountability for your errors and lack of experience you come back with excuses and NO sympathy for ruining my wedding. Such a shame. Very very unprofessional. I hope you learn from your mistakes and do not keep ruining peoples special days. read more
