Wait over hour for seating which is fine it was the weekend but we placed order and took over hour to get the food. Before that we placed the order and about 10 minutes after it they say they are out of one the cuts not sure you would have done this when the food was entered in. We hadn't been to Coon Creek for a few months. Went there yesterday for Mother's Day. It was busy. Had the special stuffed shrimp. It was excellent. This was our 2nd visit. Food is tasty, but portions are skinny for the price. My bone in ribeye was $35 and thin, mashed potatoes were about 1/2 a cup and the vegetable of the day was no more than a table spoon amount. Disappointing. They did not have a lot of beer choices on tap but they had a lot in bottles. Either way, we were both able to find beers we enjoy. The menu was rather limited in that there were a lot of appetizers but only about 4 sandwiches. And no choice to get just the meat. I was a bit apprehensive because I don't eat sandwiches or burgers that often. And when I do I like them on the plain side. I ordered the Miss Piggy which wassmoked pulled pork, sliced ham and bacon, and pepper jack cheese on a toasted bun. It was AMAZING. Huge portion. It's served with fries but you can substitute. He ordered the Mr Moo which was Sliced smoked brisket, cheddar cheese and coleslaw on Texas toast. He got fried mushrooms as his side. Best ribs I'd had in a while, although they were a bit greasy, but tender and tasty. Served with just a dry rub; waitress forgot to serve BBQ sauce on the side. What a surprising find! The food and service were both exceptional. Finding true farm to table excellence in this area is awesome. In our party of three, two had steaks and one the meatloaf. All were very reasonably priced and had generous portions, but it was the quality and flavor that stood out. The steaks were very high quality and cooked perfectly. The meatloaf had great flavor. Even the sides and apps showed terrific freshness and attention to detail (the best applesauce I've ever had). I'm not one to complain Or even leave a bad review but this place was terrible, the waitress must've completely forgot about us because she only took our order and brought us or drinks and never came around again after that. I ended up having to go to the bar and ask the bartender for a refill and where our food was because it had been about 45 minutes since we ordered and the place wasn't busy at all, and as soon as I said what the order was she said oh yeah that's been up and handed me the food too walk back to the table and the food wasn't even warm it had been sitting for so long and when we asked to speak to a manager she said there wasn't one, which seems odd especially for a Saturday night. Great place to go for drinks. I do not recommend the food. I went on a Wednesday evening (DJ Bingo Night) with a small group of friends, and we felt like we received what was left over from the weekend. My husband and I were splitting our meal and ordered the Chicken Club, Mac and Cheese and Onion Rings. The chicken club came on a small hamburger bun with chicken, lettuce and mayo. I told the waitress that we received the wrong sandwich and she said that it was how they make it. However, it was missing the bacon, tomato and cheese. Not a quality sandwich for $14.00. I called and ordered carry out for the first time yesterday. No issues. Front door is locked but you enter from the side door, no problem. The menu "on line" is not up to date but it was easy to talk to them on the phone and I ordered the typical BBQ fare, smoked turkey and brisket dinners each came with two sides. You get a lot for the price. They get their meat direct from their local farm, so they can control quality and freshness. The Meats, coleslaw, Mac and Cheese were great. The green beans are fresh but heavily seasoned and too salted for my taste. Same with the baked pit beans. So, this is why I am rating it less one star at 4 and not 5. Sorry for not posting pics, as I forgot to take any! I had their Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I really enjoyed it. As for the level of spice, that's difficult to describe as everyone has a different opinion of exactly how "spicy" something is. I didn't feel it was very spicy, but our server told me it was fairly spicy (only because I asked her), so I asked for the siricha aioli on the side. It really didn't need to be on the side, as I didn't think it was that spicy, but I was glad it was on the side because I ended up dipping my fries in it. And their fries are super yummy too! And yes, the entire chicken sandwich was very tasty, not dry & a nice soft bun too. They have an extremely limited menu, so don't get fooled when you Google this place & see a ginormous menu pic, because that's no the case any more. They have about five sandwiches & about six appetizers. However, they also have a "build your own burger" option, which, right around the corner on 29 Mile, they have their own farm where they raise their beef. The waitress said there is no upcharge for onion rings instead of french fries but a $1 extra fee. I pointed it out thinking she would make it good instead she said thanks for letting me know now I will tell patrons there is an extra charge. I could care less about $1 it's the principle. I don't think she even bothered to tell the cook. BTW, it is not a smokehouse. If we were to go again (which I doubt) only order a hamburger. can't really mess that up. read more
