We made brunch reservations for today (Christmas Eve) at 1pm and both ordered the 'Over Easy Hash' bowl with potato, cheese, bacon, green peppers and crowned with two eggs...over easy, of course. Although they had a selection of alcoholic beverages, we opted for bottled water (the restaurant tap water has a 'rural' taste to it). The entire experience was exceptional, as we've come to expect from the folks at Coon Creek. Our server, Summer, has become our favorite of all the staff: she's prompt, pleasant and personable and we can't ask for more. Other than mixing up which cut was medium and which cut was medium well, corrected quickly, the food and service were very good. You can tell the beef is very fresh. Don't expect WiFi connectivity, locked, and cellular connection very low, but that was more of a plus than a negative. Very light crowd when we dined so can't comment on noise level. read more

Went here for a family birthday and enjoyed it! We started with both the potato skins and calamari, both were good. As an entrée, I enjoyed the salmon and a side of macaroni and cheese. The salmon was terrific, crispy and flavorful. The macaroni and cheese left a lot to be desired. I found it bland and boring. The service was absolutely terrific. Summer was very kind and patient and answered all of the questions that we threw her way about their menu and dinner selections. The ambience was OK. Nothing out of this world, but for what it was, it was clean, modern and fit the area that is location very well. I found it to be a bit more expensive than I expected. I think based on the location and overall ambience, I expected it to be a little bit more affordably priced. Also, they really need to change the name. It sounds offputting when explaining to others and doesn't emphasize the quality food. If you're in the area, I would stop by. Not sure that I would drive 15 miles one way in the future. read more

We went here for the first time at the recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The service was quick to get a table (we had reservations), our waitress was incredibly kind, even letting us change tables as the sun was blinding at the first. The restaurant itself makes you feel like you're in a cabin up north and was pretty cool. The food-I cannot wait to come back and try more. My husband and I both had the NY strip. He had Mac and cheese & baked potato for side, and I tried the Mac and cheese & Caesar salad (I cannot wait to get the salad again). Everything was so fresh and delicious. Steak was cooked to a perfect medium-flavor on point & no extra sauce needed. Cannot come up with a single complaint (aside from putting some blinds on the window near the fake front door). I have only been here a few times but was recently there on the way home from the lavender festival. Food was so so good!! Had the Brisket Sando with tater tots and asked for my coleslaw on the side. No complaints, super yummy! I'm not the biggest fan of creamy / sweet coleslaw and usually prefer a more vinegar crunchy slaw but it was still good! Service was okay, not terrible not outstanding. We weren't ready to order right away which understandably irritated our server. He was in the weeds and wanted to do his order of operations (I get it, I'm a server too!). My best advice is to not sweat it! Otherwise he was very kind and attentive, just needed to slow down and take his time. One major complaint: the water tastes absolutely terrible. I don't know what it is or why, it tasted like well water. Ended up getting a soda instead so no big deal but that might need looked into by management / city? I don't know. Wanted to try this place because I've heard good things. Figured it would be busy so made a 730 reservation but got there early. No biggie I can wait. However, half the restaurant had empty tables and there were tons of parties waiting. So made my way towards the bar to get a drink while we waiting and the bartenders took forever to come take the order even after looking my way 3 separate times. Luckily we were able to get seats at the bar rather than wait for a table. Then things changed. The bartender/server was good, the sea food special that day sounded great. The clam chowder was amazing. The cakes were mediocre. All I could taste was tuna and there was no tuna in the sea food cakes. Overall food was ok, service was ok. But next time I go back I'll try something different. read more

Went here for dinner the other night. Food was pretty good, but I kinda have 2 issues with how this place operates which is why I won't return. First off, we made a reservation to go there for dinner not knowing how busy they would be on a Friday night. When we arrived, they were very slow, maybe 25% of the tables were used. The young hostess refused to sit us and allow us to start ordering drinks because our whole party wasn't there. I understand this policy and respect it, but I think it's BS to enforce it when 75% of your tables are empty. All they accomplished was a reduced bar tab. Secondly, beware that this establishment operates on well water, not city water. They do not advertise this. If you order just a water, you will get well water unless you pay extra for bottled water. First I think it's BS that they charge you for bottled water when their available water is un-drinkable. Secondly, they still cook using the well water. Many people may not be able to taste the difference but anybody who grew up on well water, will be able to taste it in the background. read more

So I used to be a big fan of this place, great burgers, fresh meats etc.... But the last 3 times I've been there, it has not been a good experience. So a couple of weeks ago I ordered 3 well done burgers and 2 of the 3 were medium rare. Tonight they are out of the French dip sandwich, it's always something honestly. I understand that they make everything from scratch, but if you're going to do that at least make enough to last you through dinner. If I'm calling for a sandwich at 6pm there should be enough to at least last until 7. I did talk to the manager and she offered a free desert which I appreciate but it does not change the inconsistency of the restaurant in general. It shouldn't that hard to be a customer at a place, get it right next time. If you're out all the time obviously an adjustment is needed. read more
