If you love your horse absolutely do not board here . I was new to the area , and finding a place was on a short time line . This place starved my horses . My horses were still not gaining weight after I was buying bags of senior and mana. I paid for trims with the farrier asked to be put on the list. the farrier never trimmed them so my money was just being stolen . Both horses suffered severe dehydration, qnd impactions , and were hospitalized . One made it the other did not . Staff turnover rate is high every month new " trainer " . Owner does not ask for paperwork for current shots , Coggins etc . There are plenty of public records about the owner . read more

By all appearances, this place looks great. But then you board there and you realize it isn't. 1st thing is we signed up our horses for the farrier arranged by Joel. They offer to bring the horses in for the trim and put them back out afterwards. Days after a farrier visit I called Joel to follow up on an issue and told him we were on the way over and he informed us one of our horses was limping, but it was no big deal, the farrier trimmed her short. I was surprised this was not mentioned to us prior to this time, so I immediately hung up the phone and called the vet who came right out. As we started to bring our horse out, from 50 feet away the dr says to me that is not a limp from a short trim. Our horse could barely walk and to bring her in we had to walk over the 40 foot long pile of manure that had been dumped outside the barn. Her issue turned out to be serious and unrelated to a short trim. We then had to pay for a stall with special bedding, she was put on pain meds. The next day, it had rained and we get to her stall and shes standing in a pool of mud water, feces and pee. We switched stalls, but every stall available was wet and our horse specifically needed several inches of dry bedding. This problem was very stressful as every place he put her would get wet. We gave notice at the end of the month and told Joel we'd be removing the horses within a couple weeks. With 30 days notice required, we gladly paid the full month's board for both horses. But, around the 1st the round bale was basically gone. We asked Joel when they would be putting a new one in, he said within a couple days. A couple days passed and there was no round bale. We asked again about the round bale and was told another excuse and that by the weekend they'd have a new one. A few days later, we see they tossed part of a regular bale of hay into the pasture. But no round bale. A few days later, again no round bale and Joel again told us he would be putting a new in one in shortly. Long story short, he NEVER gave our horses a round bale. I guess because we were leaving our horses didnt deserve to be fed properly. In the 4 days that passed from our last visit, till we came to move them, our draft horse had lost a significant amount of weight, her backbone was showing and it was clear they had not been receiving adequate food. The water was dirty and sometimes green and we had to stay on top of that too. We asked Joel numerous times for clean water. The pasture had no grass, it was dirt and full of rocks all over. The small flimsy tin lean to was not enough shelter from the sun. The other reviews about the inconsistent feeding schedule are also true. In addition, the persons feeding the horses really didnt know who was supposed to get what, as we talked to them directly when one of our horses was suddenly bloated with excessive gas. Turns out they were feeding both our horses the same food even though they were on totally different diets and we provided 2 completely different types of feed. Upon being confronted over this, Joel claimed that is what we had instructed, originally. However, it was not. We were treated poorly in my opinion and I was very disappointed in Joel and the care or lack thereof, our horses received while boarding here. On our way out, the new barn manager asked if we were leaving due to the food issue, because she could fix that, if that was the case. I thought so you are aware of a food issue and what exactly was she offering to fix that she wasn't already doing? Apparently she was fully aware something wasnt right with feeding. She was fairly new at the stable and she wasn't friendly with us, so I thought it was a bizarre remark for her to make to us, out of the blue, as we were loading our horses to leave. It took awhile to forgive myself for the lack of food our horses received in the final days, they obviously suffered and nothing will ever change that fact. Started working in November, it was great but as time went on the original agreement of pay and workload were not matching. The workload got to be soooo much and pay did not increase an when I brought up pay raise I was laughed at.. very disrespectful and inappropriate for an owner/boss.. care for horses is ok not great but ok.. boarders want extra hay an it's not given to them for the amount that they pay for full care board.. there is no airflow through the barn and I've seen/noticed horses sweating sooo bad not only that owner under the assumption that a horse only needs 6gallons of water a day.. I've fed for a week and consistently fill waters more than 3times a day in temps over 90degrees because the horses drank soooooo much water.. hay is not consistent fields aren't managed well there's no forage in the fields except for 1 of them.. boarders are consistently complaining and to top it all off the amount of horses brought in this month is way way way crowded boarders can't ride without running into another boarder in the arena.. Also for employees there's no time given if getting hurt on the job. Owner refused to give me the 2weeks off that a dr made clear I needed the end of April then cut back pay quite tremendously. Went back for a follow up Monday and still the owner kept trying to get me to stay an work against doctors orders an not allowing me to have time off to get healed up from being hurt on the job. read more

This venue literally earned -10 stars. I am writing this review on behalf of my wife. My wife boarded her horse(s) at the Coombs Stable for nearly two years. I attended the owner's property with my wife sometimes and we detected several issues we were extremely disappointed. The owner didn't care about the care and communication of the horses. He always did that to his customers who boarded their horses at the barn. See examples below... The owner claimed that the hay with mold was fine for the horses. He was WRONG because the mold can cause the horses to be apparently ill. My wife's horses were sick due to the hay quality. I managed to witness that the other customers complained toward the owner regarding the hay quality. Literately and figuratively, the owner wanted to harm all the horses on the property. The owner NEVER NEVER NEVER provide fresh hay where the mold should not be resided. The facility was NEVER NEVER NEVER WELL-MAINTAINED which there were no clear water and fresh hay. The owner did not care about his responsibilities such as providing fresh water to the horses daily. I did see a lot of greeny water which was harmful to the horses. There were a zillion of rocks anywhere in pastures as well. Literally, those rocks can hurt the horses' horseshoes. The owner did not care about the safety for each pasture where the horses roam around. The owner NEVER NEVER NEVER honor the customers' requests. Same thing with the owner's wife. His wife didn't care about anything. Both the owner and his wife only want money. I felt like they were scammers and took out all the money from their customers & never honor all the commitments that the customers were expecting. The owner is currently an all-the-time liar (as I post this review today). He lied to his customers A LOT. One day, my wife found out that a roll of hay was gone. My wife demanded the owner's answer. The owner's response was, "Oh yeah! Your horse ate the whole roll all day yesterday." A red flag was raised against him. How? My wife questioned a worker (not the barn manager) about the roll of hay and the worker showed her where it was. It was RELOCATED to the other pasture. PAH! We cornered the owner as the liar!!!! The owner and barn manager did steal my wife's bag of special food on the other horses without my wife's approval/knowledge. They were definitely thieves! The owner issued business hours: 9AM - 9PM daily. A lot of his customers including my wife have had this problem. My wife managed to bend the owner's rule by going to the barn at 8:30AM a several times and never was approached with the owner about this. Yes, all the lights were out at 9PM sharply. If I was an owner, I would keep the barn open 24/7 and every client desires an opportunity to swing by anytime. 24/7 always benefits all the clients and they have every right to see their horses. According to the contract agreements, it NEVER NEVER indicate what time the barn is closed. It claimed that when you are leave the property at nights, please turn off the lights. See!! The owner always ripped everyone off. Finally, based on the contract agreement, a 45 days notice of departure must be informed to the owner. This is totally ripped off. I googled it up and found the old contract for this Coombs Stable and it was edited sometimes in early 2013-2014. it stated, "60 days notice...." I was like "Whoa! 60 days!" Bad investments for the 60 days!!! My wife decided to depart the property immediately and found a new stable. Both my wife and I loved the contract agreement that the new owner provided. It states, "30 days notice...." 30 days!!! That's A LOT better than 60 or 45 days!!!! Let's wrap it up here. As I post this review, I am asking each of you to not board your lovely horses at the Coombs Stable. I want you to save your money and not falling into victims like my wife. Please choose a different stable, not Coombs, with 24/7 access. Keep in mind that the 45 days of notice is NOT worth your money! Please consider your horses in a healthy state. I have recently moved my 2 horses to Coombs Stable and I am very happy with the care as well as friendliness of all the other boarders. The stable is kept very clean and my horses are feed on time and well. The new trainer Hope is awesome and very helpful/caring with my horses. She had even sent me pics of my horses to show me how the are doing. I feel like if I have any concerns they will be taken care of right away. Facility is seemingly nice but everything else is crappy except for Hope, who does everything she can to take care of the horses. I will admit though, it makes it hard when very dusty grain and crappy cheap hay bales are being fed. I can promise I've never seen a boarding facility with worse dirt in its arena... if you have a performance horse like myself or pretty much a horse you do anything with I would not recommend this facility. It's extremely overpriced for what it is and they are overcrowded. I mean I was paying $400/month for a small DIY panel stall set up in the arena. The arena is DUSTY and the pastures are the absolute worst. It rained hard for a few days and the horses were ALWAYS in mud until the time until I finally made the decision to pay more for a stall so this wouldn't happen. I'll attach a picture of pasture below. I truly hate saying ill things about people/things but boarding here was a waste of my money and caused me so much stress wondering wether or not my horse was being fed properly that day. In my opinion owner was very unprofessional in several ways. I have been told by several boarders and past workers that they were scammed out of money, and even when I gave my 45 days notice and stayed the whole time, I didn't get much deposit back because "I wasn't at the facility for long enough." The barn "closes" at 9pm which is just crazy. One time I got off work at 8:30 and needed to blanket my horse so I was at the barn at around 9:15 for just a few minutes and still had the lights shut off on me... I will say though I was allowed to pick up and drop my horse off outside of hours without problem. My horse lost a lot of weight while being at Coombs and was constantly told "she's not skinny, she's perfectly normal." I will post a picture of when my mare when I left Coombs VS. now. It really makes me sad because Hope and her family are such wonderful people and were so kind my family and I while we were out there. This is a hidden gem. Affordable. Decent hay and feed quality. I've got a hard keeper for a horse who cribs but Joel and his barn managers have worked with me in managing my horses cribbing, weight, and offered solutions to improve and maintain his healthy condition. Joel says hi when he's around always friendly. The barn managers he's brought in have been nothing but kind, knowledgeable, hard working and helpful. I've seen one turnover and it was rough losing one amazing barn manager as she and her family moved into their dream home, but Joel ensured another was lined up and would fit right in and do the job. It's a big one! All of us have different views on how our horse should be cared for but Joel's facility offers exactly what I like. Down to earth, feed and hay, shelter in pastures, stalls, shavings, quiet and laid back Feed and coastal are always available in house. Stalls are cleaned daily. Covered and lit arena. The horses are fed regularly and if a change occurs we are notified on our boarders page. We are kept up to date with on site events, vet appointments, farriers, weather updates etc. We also share photos, laughable moments, educational material through our page which also helps us know faces and names if we run into each other at the barn. We all know each other's horses more so than the rider but it creates a community of people that love their horses and come out to enjoy a quiet, relaxing, comfortable, and safe place to ride. The covered arena is awesome and the barn managers have worked so hard the arena dirt because they want us to come out often. Joel's taken amazing care of me and my horse for over a year. Moved here a little over 2 weeks ago from another barn and was welcomed with open arms! Joel has made it his mission to see that we all have every little thing that we need! From a brand new fan that makes the hot days bearable to a brand new wash rack and hitching post outside to make the hose traffic nonexistent. Our barn manager Hope has been busy making the place her own and doing an outstanding job! My mare is extremely happy! The indoor arena has amazing footing! Communication and care sucks. Starves the animals and doesn't let you know when something it wrong with your horse unless you go cheap on them yourself. With my business schedule I could only make it one once to twice a week and every time I saw my horse he was skinner and skinner I'd tell Coombs to up feed and how I wanted food in his food 24/7 do to him being a young stallion. That never happened I'd stuff his hat bag so full I could barely lift it and told the feeders that's what I wanted over and over again. I was told he'd be put out at every night when I first took him to Coombs then it went to every other night to once a week to finding out he had never been out and was stuck in a stall for weeks so I had to find time to come out about four times a week to at least lung my horse which was hard because with his hours I could not make it out usually in time before or after work to do so. My horse suffered and it's not okay. I was promised and I payed them to take care of my horse by the time I found a place who's take him and had the money to move my stallion I found out my horse had a cough and 105 degree fever. If you have an expensive horse much less a stallion I would not recommend Coombs stables. Not only did they not do as asked or promised but I personally feel like Joel is afraid of male horses. read more

The coombs stables is more than a place to board my horse they are like an extended family. You are always made aware of any changes and also they cater to each horses needs based on the horses personality. Joel always makes it a point to come and say hi and check in and see how every one is doing. The amenities are well thought out and make is so incredibly easy to groom, ride, or just spend quality time with your horse. Joel is constantly making improvements and adding value to the boarding experience without raising the prices. My sweet gelding has gained weight and is happier and healthier since we have moved him here. To top it off he added Hope to the Coombs team and she and her beautiful family are a ray of sunshine to everyone they encounter. They are always helpful , knowledgeable and willing to do anything to make your experience with your horse more rewarding and fun. Paula the feeder takes special care to follow any extra instructions and works hard to be sure all the horses are getting their nutritional needs met daily and always with a smile on her face .. rain or shine. They pastures are well managed and my horse always has access to fresh water and a round bale for grazing. Nothing but an amazing experience with the Coombs boarding team, I would highly recommend them to any true horse lover! read more
