Prior to coming out…read moreto our home the tech called to say there was a $250 minimum charge to come for an estimate because we were not "members". This was an absolute scam. The Yelp representative (Kelly?) had replied to my inquiry regarding the availability of a plumber and said one was available the same day to come out & provide a free estimate . I agreed & Christian Plumbing called & said a technician would come @ 3:30 PM. Around 2:30 PM I received a phone call from the technician (Nick?) saying that there was a service call charge of $250 to come out to provide an estimate. Talk about "bait & switch", this was the worst scam ever.

What really stood out was how detailed and honest Tom was about the work. He explained everything clearly, didn't try to upsell me on anything unnecessary, and made sure I understood exactly what was done. I believe Tom is the kind of person you can genuinely trust. I came…read moreacross Northampton Heating and A/C and was happy to see 1) they were local and 2) all the 5 star ratings. I figured all those 5 star ratings couldn't be wrong. And happily they weren't. Throughout the whole process, from quote to installation, Bill was informative, friendly, neat, and professional. He took pride in his work and genuinely appreciated being able to be of service. He even went above and beyond and replaced a busted vent he noticed on our clothes dryer. I'm looking forward to a warm garage come next winter and will be calling on Bill for any future heating and A/C needs.

The pilot light wouldn't stay lit. He worked his way from all the obvious and inexpensive fixes and only got to the more more expensive ones when the simple fixes didn't work. He communicates very well -- he told me what he tried and what was next as he went. I ended up needing a new gas valve and pilot assembly. In my 20 years here, I have never seen my pilot so strong. I'm very pleased with his work. He also helped get my potbelly stove with a gas assembly working again and had some helpful thoughts for how to make it retain more heat.

The short version of this review is that Alex and his team make things easy. They provided top quality service, at reasonable prices, and were done quickly! The slightly longer version is after several years of talking about getting a split system to replace the various window units I'd been using, I finally pulled the trigger this year. I had several contractors out to provide estimates. Right out of the gate, I appreciated Alex's approach. While the other contractors discussed various options with eyeball estimates, Alex actually took a few measurements to come up with ideas which could actually be implemented. As a result, he presented a few ideas on how to run things that others missed and (imo) offered the best end solution. Obviously pricing is going to be specific to the job at hand and a variety of other factors. In my case, I found the pricing to be very competitive while offering name brand and better equipment than others. A small deposit was required, which is fairly standard. When it came to installation, the team worked hard, quick, and clean. I got a 4 zone unit covering my Master bedroom, office, guest bedroom, and living room. They worked a slightly long first day to get all the physically installation done (along with all the loud work, so to speak). They came back for a half day to tie up the electrical, help me get the wifi setup, and wrap up. Regarding the electrical, in my case they needed to add a subpanel and when they noticed a few things not done quite right in my existing box, they made the necessary fixes/adjustments! The end result was top quality across the board. I'm comfortably sitting in the A/C as I type this review. Happy to provide Joint Way a 5-star review and have already recommended them to a few friends considering split systems.
