We have tried other similar services before, so trying CookUnity to see whether it's as convenient and delicious as they claim. Reusable cooler bag you can give back to them. However, Time frame of delivery is inconsistent. One day we will get it earlier in the day and another day, we will get it in the afternoon. I can see ETA in the app on day of delivery for approximate time frame. So I would definitely recommend downloading their app. Is it easy to placed an order? *yes and no. Yes-- for ease of use when you download the app and pick the meals you want to get several weeks ahead of time. No--because of so many choices that you may have a hard time narrowing down what you want. What if I want to skip a delivery? *easy! Just make sure you go into the app and skip for that week. Otherwise you will be charged as they will pick the meals for you if you don't pick them or skip by deadline. Is it cost effective? *we believe it is. If you are someone who is used to ordering food outside or eating out a lot for convenience, this service can save some money while providing quality meals at a fraction of what you would spend. Some meals will cost slightly more due to higher ingredient costs (e.g. filet mignon, seafood, etc.). How delicious is the food? *subjective. From the small sample of food we tried thus far (from different chefs), most of the meals are okay to good to some that are above average good. Some are meh! Don't be fool by higher costs items. Some of those are meh tho I did fine some gems. You can see my photos of which meals I have tried thus far and how I rate each one. From tasty-delicious to ones that I don't like at all and won't order again. Of course, this is subjective and to my taste. You may love them. How good does the food look? *package meal wise--pretty good. But if you are looking for restaurant quality plating, this is not it. Most of the food look kinda boring. Except the ones from Esther Choi. Honestly her food is mostly yummy and looks very nicely prepared. Don't know how they do it! How easy is it to prep the meal? *easy! Either microwave it or put into an oven. Instructions on the sleeve of the meal. Only one that had us cook it in a pot is the udon (noodles) meal but it was super easy and tasty. It pains me to write this. The taste of the food is overall very good. However, I've now had two different food safety issues with my food. A few weeks ago I found multiple hairs in my food. I took a picture and reached out to cook unity and was told it wasn't hair, and that it looked like "fiber." I showed multiple people in person and they all agreed it was definitely hair but their customer service rep based his "findings" on a photo where it is very hard to discern what they are looking at. I asked about the food preparation safety procedures, and how I can be confident this won't happen again, and I was told that their safety procedures are confidential (!!??) and "not to worry it won't happen again". To his credit, they credited me for that delivery. Then the most recent delivery came with a container of granola that was not sealed, and it had been opened and half eaten! So suffice it to say this is my last delivery with cook unity - it is too bad b/c the food tastes pretty good for food delivery but their food hygiene procedures are awful. (And apparently according to customer service food safety is a state's secret that cannot be revealed under any circumstances - I'm not reassured) read more

I'm pleased with the food--quality, taste, portion size, and selections. BUT the delivery service is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. They promise to tell you when they will arrive and text you in advance, but 100% of the time they FAIL to do that. I have contacted their customer service at least 10 times and each time they swear they will address the issue but nothing ever changes. I would love to post a positive review but until their delivery service improves I can't do that. read more

You have so many choices of food and desserts and you are not limited to small sections. Predatory business practices and no support from customer support. They increase your subscription prices without telling you and they make it impossible for you to cancel but obfuscating where the cancellation buttons live, and what sites you need to visit. Their AI chat doesn't link the correct materials and always has "connection errors" when you need help. Their email SLA is 8 hours but they take over a day to respond, and by then you're well beyond their cancellation window. read more

I had cancelled this service and got continuing Emails offering me discounts to rejoin which seemed usual. In one of these emails, I submitted to my curiosity , and clicked into a section titled "check my accounts" . I had cancelled them over six months ago so was curious that I even had an account. with that click in, I triggered a charge I didn't want , for food I didn't select, that was delivered as a complete surprise to me. Great food, but they always deliver the meals with a single ice pack, so meals almost never arrive at or below 41F as required by California law. Then, when you ask for a refund they act like you're trying to cheat them. This has been going on for months. I'm still trying to get them to put sufficient ice packs in the delivery bag. I'll make a Health Department complaint after the next inevitable, delivery of warm, sloppy, wet meals and a half-melted single ice pack. Truly excellent food. Service & operations so bad I canceled I was a subscriber for months and really liked the food and selection, but their operations and customer service are terrible and make CookUnity unworkable. I've switched to other competitors, of which there are many. I had three delivery issues (one nonarrival and two late) in one month and did not even receive a reply to my last note on the 3rd delivery problem. That's just unacceptable. Their operation for Denver is already problematic. Wednesday is the only delivery day. Some orders are prepared as early as the Friday before. This is "fresh" food that they say not to freeze. Expiration dates are as early as the next Friday, most expire over the weekend, and one or two out of an order might expire on Monday. That's bad enough, but when delivery is delayed by just a day, that leaves some food expiring in a day and most in two or three. Not workable for a weekly delivery service. read more

We used to enjoy preparing meals together. But it had become more a chore than the delight it was when we were younger and less busy. CookUnity has provided us the solution. Great and wide selection of food, easy prep, and the food really does taste like it was just prepared by a restaurant chef. I didn't like 1/2 the meals I got and I feel I didn't get notified of my time frame even the day given for my order doesn't work for me. Run do not walk! Cook Unity offers good food if it actually gets to you. The logistics behind this company and CS is a nightmare. I've tried it not 1,2 but 3x like the fool I am. First order was not properly saved supposedly and they sent me a bunch of randoms. Even tho I received an order confirmation. Second event I moved my deliver date by 1 day and my ordered randomly cancelled with no email notifications. CS is non existent chat takes 8-15 mins for a response and email is worse. Blue Apron, Home Chef, Green Chef all a much better experience and probably cheaper. The food is very good. My wife who is a picky eater, likes and eats every meal. My wife who has health issues, makes me the "cook." Well, I have said," if it doesn't fit in the microwave, then I don't cook." These take a maximum of 3 minutes to MW. They are so convenient and you select the variety of selected meals, how many, and how often to deliver. Also, each meal is given a "like" score on each meal by prior customers. Im going to advise anyone thinking of this company to stay far away. I got my first box yesterday. I ordered 12. I got 6. 6 meals I didn't order in fact. They charged me for the 2nd box before I even received the first and refuse to refund me. Only a credit. Having no food to eat, because we were expecting our meals we decided to eat one today. There was a hair in it. I emailed them to tell them and no one responds. So many issues, so now I have credits for food I don't want to eat for fear of sanitary issues. I've had a great experience with this food delivery and meal service. I researched several companies, and I chose this one because of the wide variety of meals on the menu. We are vegetarian and have a picky child, and most similar services had way fewer vegetarian options and once that grown-ups would like but many kids would not. This one has like 50 vegetarian meals on the menu each week. Yay! So I signed up. I also like that the meals are individual servings, so each of us can pick what we like. This is a relief since preparing meals ourselves is hard with catering to everyone's different tastes. So we have "boxes" for dinner twice per week. It's so nice to have that on an evening I have to work late and can't make dinner. Much healthier than take-out. We've been on our plan for a few months, and the meals have been mostly very good. Occasionally there is one we don't like, but then there are plenty of other options. One time I got a bad meal -- I opened it and saw right away that the ingredients had gone bad. It was an anomaly, as I had ordered that meal several times with good results. I contacted the company with the details of the problems, and they credited my account for that one meal, just as I had requested. Overall the meals have been good portion sizes. I've had a couple that didn't fill me up, but I could have predicted that from the calorie counts shown in advance; similarly, last week I had one I couldn't finish, again predictable because the calories was over 1000 for that one meal. One time a meal was too oily. Most of the meals I really like a lot. My only complaint is that you can only skip a delivery once the menu for that week becomes available, and there are no notifications available to tell you when the menu becomes available or when your deadline for picking your own meals is (otherwise they pick for you). I really wish there was a notification when the menu becomes available, and another notification the day before the deadline. I also wish I could pull up a calendar and select certain weeks to skip, so I could do this more in advance (e.g., when we know we'll be on vacation). This is why I deducted one star. It's annoying to have to remember to keep logging in to find out whether the menu for a week is available yet, and then to try to remember when the deadline for picking meals is. read more

I committed to this for about 2 months, The chefs are consistently over rated - food as been bland lack of seasoning mostly No control over when you order is delivered it will sit outside all day most times By the 4th day after receiving the food, the meals all tastes like left overs packaging is not vacuum sealed and sometimes just tupper ware lids placed over them; this could be vastly improved. I just want to say thank you for your service, i have used almost every food delivery meal plan service. Iv tried Fuelmeals, Factor, Hello fresh, Tempo. You guys are the BEST! A little more expensive, but totally worth it. With every other company, the options are limited, the food's kinda bland, and get they repetitive and boring after a couple weeks. Fat should only make up 20 - 30% of an average adult's caloric intake. For most people, that's 44g - 78g per day, and the maximum sodium intake should be 2300mg. Nearly 90% of the food you offer makes it impossible to meet those standards. CookUnity needs to hire a dietician to overhaul the menu. CookUnity's marketing seems to take advantage of the average person's naivety surrounding macronutrients. Unfortunately, mine included; I regret the money and time wasted on CookUnity's service. Even the meals I tried that were 500 - 700 calories (which were few and far between), had upwards of 30g - 50g of fat, and 1000mgs or more of sodium. Relying on fat, salt, and empty calories to make food taste good are tactics used by bad cooks to make their food edible. read more

Disappointing Customer Service - Not Worth It While the food from Cook Unity is decent, the customer service is practically non-existent. There is no phone number to call, and they do not respond to emails in a timely manner--if at all. After they delivered the wrong meals, I reached out multiple times to get a refund. Despite three attempts, no one followed up properly. I finally decided to close my account and stop using their service altogether. There are better meal delivery companies out there that actually care about their customers and handle issues professionally.
