I didn't try the ceviche, but the empanadas were delicious. These were some of the best empanadas I've had in a while. Delicious, flavorful, crisp pastry. Not to oily. Good amount of well seasoned filling. Not dry. Tasty sauce to help balance it all out. Tip: Ask for extra sauce. read more

Okay, I honestly never leave reviews but this ceviche was not it. Especially with a name like "Yo Soy Ceviche," I was expecting it to be the spot for my First Thursdays in SF. As soon as I saw Peruvian food, I didn't even think twice I went straight for the ceviche, super hyped because Peruvian ceviche is usually fire... But nope. Total letdown. The fish had zero flavor no lemon, no salt, just super bland. At first I thought maybe it was just me, but I had all my friends try it too and we all agreed... it just wasn't good. No seasoning, no flavor, nothing. Honestly disappointing if you're gonna call yourself "Yo Soy Ceviche," the ceviche should actually slap. read more

We ordered the ceviche bowl (on a plate, not bowl) and chicken huancaina and vegan mushroom empanadas from the food stand at Carnaval SF over the weekend. There was no wait to order, though there was a bit of a wait for the ceviche (but not bad for a busy festival). It was worth the wait, plated beautifully, piled high and tasty. The empanadas were quite delicious as well, generous filling with a nice seasoning, and the sauce on the side added just the right flavor. Both dishes were very satisfying. read more

We ate at their truck at Hardly Strictly 2023, and the Holiday Market in GGP 2023. The time we went at Hardly Strictly was absurdly good. Huge portions of meat and ceviche, with some of the best ceviche we've ever had. The steak was cooked perfectly with a lot of flavor and the onions were 10/10. Service was slow, but I forgive them as it was packed during Hardly Strictly. Absolutely great experience to eat during the festival. When we went during the Holiday Market, portions were a bit smaller than they were previously, but the flavor was just as good. However, for the price, I had been hoping for the huge portions as I had before. I will definitely go again any time I see their truck out and about. read more

I saw their food truck at first Fridays: I would like to disclose that this is not a complete inference but a solid assessment. I say this because Peruvian food is known for ceviche. I ordered empanadas. The chicken one was good it had a hint of sweet but it was tasty. The beef one felt like butter. I gotta try their ceviche next time read more

Spotted their food stand on Sunday at the Presidio Tunnel Tops. We decided to go for the sirloin saltado. This dish consist of marinated sirloin steak strips stir fried with steak fries, YoSoySauce, red onions and tomatoes. The sirloin was cooked perfectly and everything tasted good. The downside to this dish was the portion was really small. For $17, I expected to get more food on the plate. Instead I got a small scoop of white rice, about 6 pieces of sirloin and a few pieces of the tomatoes, steak fries and red onions. read more

Ran into this food stand at the Emperor Norton's Holiday Bazaar. Despite having ceviche in its name, I couldn't resist getting the lomo saltado. See, it's my absolute favorite Peruvian dish (and probably even my favorite Latin American dish) so I always feel compelled to try it at new joints. The one here was quite good for a food stand. Granted, a fancy restaurant would probably use higher end cuts like tenderloin, but they'd also charge at least double the price charged here. Lomo Saltado: A very generous amount of beef! Large cubes griddled up fresh to order. Lightly browned on the outside and pink on the inside. A stronger sear would have been nicer, but it was enjoyable as is. The fries tasted homemade (instead of frozen store bought) and did a great job soaking up all the awesome soy-based sauce. There was enough tomato and red onion to complement the meat and potatoes, but not overwhelm. The rice was a bit too mushy, but I'm usually not big into the rice part of lomo salto, so no big deal. read more

Should've just walked away...Peruvian Ceviche out of a food truck, $21. Price definitely SFO airport price, but portion smaller than eating inside airport. The sauce is good though, (turmeric? Onion/cilantro...could be spicier). The fish which should be star of the show was so so (always better if you make ceviche yourself). Overall: okay. Worth $21 before tip? No (the packs of thawed tilapia we buy for the fur baby is less than 6.50 a pound at the wholesale warehouse). read more

8/13/22 EDIT after comment posted: Sorry I misspoke. It's not a food truck but it was a food stand in an area with other food trucks. To owner: I believe you should always put your best effort forward. People are paying for your food and my gf wanted to throw it away. Don't serve it if it doesn't taste good and you're not ready for it to be reviewed. Note that at this very location there were 3 other trucks with empanadas and we tried 2 competitors. They all were served warm or hot. Yours was the worst in the area. Also take note: no need for a free empanada if it's the same recipe. See review for critique. Originally: We got a chicken empanada from their #foodtruck just now and it was horrible. Served cold. The crust would have been good I think if it weren't served cold as it was buttery. The stuffing though would never be good. Just ultra dry pulled under seasoned (or really no seasoning) chicken with no gravy. My gf took one bite and pushed it away. I did like the sauce they gave on the side. Very tasty and spicy. 1/5 #empanada #sanfrancisco read more

An overpriced and underwhelming food truck experience. Ordered 2 empanadas because the entrees cost more than $20 for small portions. The mushroom empanada's crust was soft, soggy and falling apart as soon as I opened the box. Inside was just diced and sauteed mushrooms, no sauce, but well seasoned. The chicken empanada had a proper crust that was buttery but also very sweet. Inside was just dry seasoned chicken. read more

Slow but delicious, with the emphasis unfortunately on the slow. Do not come here when hangry. The pork was succulent.

Absolutely amazing Peruvian food. I've ordered multiple times from this truck and it has been delicious each time. I'm not sure what she puts in her sauces but they are the perfect flavorful balance. I almost drank the sauce that came with the surf and turf. The crispy pork belly "Chicharron Butifarra" comes with sizable amount of delicious meat on a toasted bun, and mouth smacking sauce. Highly recommend trying this place! read more

Yo Soy Ceviche satisfies and makes your mouth happy! Authentic Peruvian ceviches, flaky empanadas and savory saltadas are the ultimate comfort foods. The ceviches are outstanding because of the tangy elixir sauce. The vegan hearts of palm ceviche is fantastic! The empanadas are tender and delicious. Terrible food, TE-RRI-BLE! I am peruvian! I got the chicharron butifarra today and it was all fat, no meat, the bread was soggy, the sweet potato had no taste, that was not a Peruvian chicharron, embarrassing! read more

Parked outside of General decided this would be a nice treat! Almost $20 bought me a plate of lomo saltado which is average for Peruvian. Well what I got was way below average! I had about 5 pieces of steak that although tender, had a ton of fat. The veggies were cooked good but literally had like one piece of tomato and a couple of onions. Fries were a joke! I had two pieces!!!!! Now the rice- some of the worst rice I had in my life. The portion was ridiculous, they spread it out to make it look like a lot- so disappointing considering rice is abundant. The rice was burnt and clumpy. Flat out terrible. The ahi sauce had almost zero flavor. I was so disappointed- would rather get limon- although a few dollars more- everything (including rice) is on point. Would never come back here! Sad to say because I would love to support a small business. Update: My review was 100% honest. What I regret is not taking a picture to back my review up! I'm sorry that I felt ripped off by paying almost $20 for a plate of lomo saltado that barely had any food in it, including rice (which at least could have been used as a filler). Don't thank me for my review and come off so condescending. My Peruvian friend also bought this dish and felt 100% how I felt- so my portion wasn't isolated to just me! No one is bashing your business but giving feedback based on what I received. Take it or leave it this is what yelp is for. Don't worry, I would visit your business again, not just for the food but more so because of your attitude. Have a great day! read more

At Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, I ordered plantains. After a long wait, they gave me a french-fry box covered in foil. In it were pre-packaged plantains from the factory, at room temperature. It looked like they opened a bad of plantain chips and emptied the contents into a food container. I guess I could have asked if they make them fresh. When I order from a food truck with visible fryers, fresh food is a reasonable expectation. Is the ceviche from Safeway? Are the burritos from Taco Bell? It was disappointing. read more

I went to their food truck in the Presidio today. They forgot my order when I asked about its status about 30 min later. There was a cursory sorry and then offered me a small bag of chips in reparation. I still had to wait about 7 min or so and when the other person offered to give me an empanada in reparation as well - the other person said that she gave me a bag of chips so we're good. I was so frustrated that I just took my food and walked off. Then, the food wasn't very good either. I had the surf and turf - the sirloin was under cooked and fatty. I couldn't even chew through it and ended up spitting it out back into the container. The ceviche was okay at best. I can safely say that I will NEVER go there again and recommend that others steer clear as well. read more

Big Dog winery used YoSoyCeviche for a band venue last Saturday evening..First off the truck was almost an hour late, didn't show up to venue until 7pm by then the whole crowd who were instructed that they could not bring outside food had to rush to all eat at the same time. I absolutely love the lomo saltado. So flavorful and juicy, with chucks of tomato and onions. And those fries Yummy! The empanadas are buttery and flaky as I like them. I can't ever decide which one to get, so I get one of each and the huancaina sauce delicious with a kick. The ceviche......well I'm not too found of ceviche, but the one served at Yo Soy Ceviche is my exception. I am definitely a fan of ceviche here. Especially when served with the yucca and plantain chips. It gives the ceviche a wonderful added flavor and crunch. Definitely a fan at Pacifica, Half Moon Bay and SF Tunnel Tops Park. I was pretty bummed about the food at their stand in the presidio (the new Tunnels park). Was very excited to try it since I love seeing a Latinx restaurant/catering company thriving. The empanadas (one of our favorite foods) were barely filled, hard, warmed on the flat top but that didn't heat up much of anything beyond the belly of the empanada. Might be the first empanada I haven't finished. The ceviche was fine - but small and very pricey. It may have just been not their best day so I hope I get to try it again. read more
