Los Cuernos is an…read moreunassuming taqueria which after walking in, you'll discover it actually has a large dining area and an extensive menu of Mexican Classics. I visited recently to try their super breakfast burrito. The couple working here are extremely friendly and hard working people. So how was my burrito? It was ginormous, one of the biggest burritos I've seen in a long time. It was well balanced and all the ingredients were portioned properly. Maybe a little more meat would have been nice though. Overall a very solid Mexican spot in Daly City.

Not welcoming, not friendly, just straight attitude. That already set the tone. Now let's talk tacos. I'm from LA, so when it comes to street tacos, I know what's up. $5.99 for a regular street taco?? And $7.99 for lengua?? Be serious. That's gourmet pricing without gourmet quality. Especially after seeing their old menu prices went from $2.99 to $3.50 to $3.99... and now suddenly almost $6? That price evolution is wild. Respect to the man cooking, he was actually very nice. But kindness alone doesn't justify those prices. The quality just didn't match what they're charging. Inflation is real, but so is value. And this wasn't it.

The birria tacos came with 3 regular sized tacos and honestly each one is pretty dense with meat and cheese. The consome also had some meat although, I think it was beef and not goat. Everything was tender but the flavor was just ok for me. My mom wanted a carnitas super burrito and this was pretty good. Lots of meat and some bits were crispy just how I like it. I wouldn't mind getting it again but I do want to try their al pastor next time. Their fish plate was pretty good as well. Loved the crispness of the fish and it didn't feel greasy or heavy. It came with avocados, rice, beans, lettuce and 4 flour tortillas. I wouldn't mind getting this again. A basket of chips came for each person as soon as we sat down and there was a healthy selection of salsa. I didn't care for the chips itself as they were too salty for me. The ambiance is very festive and there were plenty of people coming in and out. We dined in and found myself wishing they gave real silverware rather than plastic. We were only give one real fork for the fish and it was difficult to break apart. Their plastic cutlery was also pretty flimsy so we mostly ate with our hands. Overall, I'd still come back and try other dishes.

Ok hear me out…read more.. This MIGHT be the best burrito in the bay area. If it ain't the best in the bay, then it's definitely my new favorite spot until I try something better. Every time I try a new burrito spot I always think "does it beat my current favorite burrito spot?". After a few bites, it was an easy yes. Do I feel this way because of the Michelin guide or the articles written about it? No. The food speaks for itself. The location is small. But the menu, the flavor and portions are anything but. I ordered the steak and shrimp super burrito and it was so good. My burrito didn't lack anything. There was enough shrimp, enough steak. Not overpowered with rice and beans. Not one element overpowered. Each bite was even better than the last. I wish the verde sauce had a little more kick but it was still flavorful. How do you even explain a good burrito? For me, you just have to try it and hope my recommendation doesn't let you down. Another plus, My daughter has a few allergies and was able to safely eat the mexican rice and grilled chicken. Note that parking is limited, it gets crowded and seating is limited. But those are signs of a really really good place to eat.

Even at 4 pm on a weekend, the place was packed - pretty much every table was taken, but we were still able to find a spot. Many people are also just sitting while waiting for their to go order so they'll vacate once they receive the food. Be prepared to wait a bit for your food - they make everything fresh and to order and the average wait time will be at least 20 minutes. You will get complimentary chips despite whether you're getting the food to go or dining in. Since our family was hungry, our first order of chips was gone within a few minutes. Even though they don't really do tableside service here, the guy that was working behind the counter was great about coming out and making his rounds. He proactively offered to bring us another order of chips, brought out an extra plate without having being asked because he saw we had a couple of little kids with us, and also asked if we wanted one of our burritos to be cut as he (correctly) assumed we would be splitting the food between the kids. He also brought out boxes for us to take away the leftovers once we were close to the end of our meal. The food itself was also fantastic - the meat is always tender, nicely seasoned, and perfectly grilled to bring out all the flavors. You can't go wrong with the super burrito ingredients - guac, cheese, sour cream, rice, and beans.

The food looked delicious, eye candy. Parking is limited. It's a small place, but big enough to come in with a fairly large group. We walked in and sat down. I noticed a huge counter with a big television screen playing music videos of Latin music, jamming. There were a couple of tables and cultural decor. It was clean and inviting. The server greeted us and brought us chips and salsa verde. The salsa verde was to my liking, perfect amount of spicy. The server came back and took our orders: - Caldo de res (my order), came with rice, tortillas, and cilantro with onions - Grilled chicken tacos - Chicken quesadilla My caldo res was tasty and so good. I love the flavor of the broth. Big portion for me. I finished it though lol. I tasted hubby's tacos and quesadilla, also yummy. I love that they grilled the chicken, gives the flavor more depth. The shrimp cocktail had a lot of shrimp, avocado, and cucumber which was delicious. But the actual cocktail juice was light in flavor. I also loved that they serve saltines with their shrimp cocktail because some places just give chips. The menu offers a variety of items, and we decided on the elote tots (tater tots and elote street-style corn), an appetizer that sounded different, and for the main dishes, the nachos with added soy chorizo and the spaghetti with Poblano chili sauce, plus a side of soy chorizo. The food came quickly, and the elote tots were amazingly good! The combination of tater tots, the corn, and the cheeses (sauce and crumbled) was amazing mix of textures and flavors. The nachos were good, and the pasta with poblano sauce was also very good. The sauce was creamy, with a slight heat, and very different. The soy chorizo was not my favorite, and in the nachos, the crumbled form of the soy chorizo was better suited as an add than as a side to the pasta (maybe it was intended to be mixed in, but I wanted to eat it separately). Just too crumbled and a little dry for me. The service was great, and thanks to Dioscelyn for that. Overall, a very nice meal. We were not hurried and stayed at the table a bit to chat. A great place if you are in the area.

Their regular tacos are topped with cilantro, onion, + side of medium-spicy salsa, and for reference, their super taco $5.50 come w/ additional cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, avocado. Quesobirria tacos have stewed beef + cheese, and was grilled to perfection so there was some carmelized cheese crust (I requested less cheese but it was still cheesy lol). The consommé was flavorful (like actual stewed meat broth), not thin, and a good amount. Convenient location near 280 and on El Camino. Street parking was pretty easy. The menu outside the truck didn't list the price when I went, but service was friendly & they kindly answered my questions on pricing.

Coconut Margarita has some creaminess to it and but the sweetness is well balanced. The old fashioned has very well balanced flavors, it's strong (of course) but has subtle notes from the bitters, mezcal, and sweetness. We ordered the halibut ceviche which was perfectly seasoned, good portion, and delicious. We also ordered chicken tamales which were tasty but it was missing/lacking something. Either the exterior was too thick or maybe not enough sauce, unsure but we definitely needed salsa to eat with the tamales for that missing component. Some disappointing/confusing experiences: 1. Why are packaged saltine crackers offered with the ceviche? They should just stick with the fresh chips, seems like a waste of money and an odd choice. I'd recommend placing the lime in the ceviche bowl and offering more chips if the bowl is low/empty. 2. We asked for some spicy salsa (bc the other one is mild and we wanted something spicier to eat with our food) but they brought tapatio and chalula?... I would think an upscale place such as this would have homemade spicy salsa. 3. The refried beans were delicious but extremely salty, please have multiple people taste test the foods that are batch made like beans, rice, etc. before serving to the public. We were informed the entire dessert menu is delicious so next time we will definitely save room for that!
