Super fun cooking class!! I didn't really pay too much attention to the leveling of classes but was informed we had signed up for the beginners course which was so surprising because there were quite a few technical tasks involved! We started at the Cooking Lisbon kitchen and then walked as a group to the market. We had about 5 minutes or so to explore before getting a chance to taste test some cheeses, breads, and roasted pork. We then walked around and bought our groceries and seafood for our group meal before making the trek back to the kitchen. When we returned there was a wonderful spread of cheeses, bread, jams, and nuts for us to snack on while we cooked. There was also unlimited wine, juice, and water available to us as we cooked and later with our meals. As a group we chopped up vegetables, minced garlic, peeled oranges and prepped the seafood. All remains went into a simmering pot that would become our soup. We shucked oysters and ate them raw, we filleted about four fish and prepared the clams. It was such a blast and everyone was so much fun to be around. Our instructor Paulo and his assistant Fernanda were so kind and patient, it was truly such a great time and intro to Portuguese cuisine!

We had an amazing time at this cooking class. I enjoyed the market experience watching them clean the fish and pick the freshest fruit and veggies. Even while we waited on our food we had a delicious board with wine and water. We also were able to help prep the food by cutting the veggies and cleaning this fish. The food was delicious. It was great to have a meal and learn about the culture over some authentic cuisine.

Found this through an experience package called Tinggly (gifted for our wedding). This 3 hour Tuesday cooking class was the perfect way to spend our last night in Lisbon. With a total class size of 4 plus chef, we all had plenty of to do between making the soup, entree, and dessert. Peeling potatos, boiling eggs, cutting veggies, de-skinning the cod, flipping the meringue, and whipping the custard were just some of the tasks. Plenty of snacks (beans, olives, and bread + oil) and drinks (wine and OJ for the pregnant one) provided during downtimes. It was an intimate and friendly setting, where we were all chatting about our foodie aventures thus far. The best part was enjoying our hardwork in a 3 course dinner =) where all the serving and cleaning up was done by our instructor. And keeping our souvenir aprons!

After a long love affair with pasteis de nata, we were excited to take a cooking class with Filippa to learn to make them.

The food was tasty and I also got exposed to my favorite peri peri hot sauce that can be found in Portugal grocery stores. The locale was clean, spacious and had modern equipment. Me and my girls had a ton of fun and met some cool people at our table! I would 100% do this again. Pro tip: leave extra wiggle room to find the building. Figuring out the streets to get here was a little bit confusing, and there was a section of construction that threw us off. They so kindly waited for our arrival while we were about 10 minutes late.

The hardest part was finding the location of the class. Once we got there, the instructor welcomed us and she was very knowledgeable and welcomed questions and was able to answer everything we asked. She was also very funny which kept us entertained. It was so cool that we also got to meet people from various parts of the world; majority of our group was from Germany and there was another couple from France too! Overall, the class was easy to keep up with! There was someone who would come around after each step to help with clean up and removing items that you no longer needed. Most of the ingredients were already portioned and prepped. We then got to sit together to eat and drink at the end! If you're looking for an experience, I would highly recommend checking out their classes!!!!

Before we departed he bought us espressos that we drank together at the counter like locals. We visited two beautiful vineyards/wineries with tastings of a nice variety of red and white (and one "green"!) wines. Our guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We also stopped into Óbidos for a little stroll and lunch. He bought us some traditional chorizo bread on a little whim. Lunch had a nice atmosphere and good service, but the prices were drastically higher than other places we ate on our trip, and the food was a bit plain. This was only a small blemish on an otherwise outstanding day. We would gladly rebook something with Armando on a return visit!

We had an opportunity to experience Wine tours, restaurants and sites of Portugal we would have never been able to enjoy in the same manner as if we had been on our own. Not only is Armando an excellent tour guide and driver, but more than that he created an experience of the Portuguese people and culture that was up close and personal that we all thoroughly enjoyed. He came highly recommended to us and I agree 110% his services made our visit of Portugal all the more wonderful. Muito obrigada Armando
