Portugal is a special place. The people, the culture, the food and of course, the wine made for a awesome one week vacation but, it may not be as perfect as you hoped unless you pick the right guide. Armando was referred by friends and our expectation was high based on the referral. Well, Armando exceeded our expectation. Such a professional and now a friend. We travel two to three times a year all over the world. Each experience is different and only a few experiences are special enough to highly, highly recommend to other travelers who also appreciate a certain level of service, which includes history, culture and cuisine. Touring with Armando means you will travel in the style in which you expect and are accustomed. All of the previous aside, the tour is topped off by just spending time with someone who appreciates life, family and values similar to you. If you are like us, you research reviews closely and chose guides carefully so you can make amazing memories with you spouse, partner, family. My wife and I left Portugal knowing we made the right choice in Armando. Happy Travels and hope you get to experience what is in store for you when touring with The Best Portugal. Obrigado!! (Thank You)

The horseback riding with Sonora and moisha

Armando was the best guide we have had for where ever we have went. He showed up at our hotel 5 minutes early, did t rush us, greeted us warmly when we met. Car was very clean and comfortable. Ac kicking in when needed. The 1hour 20 minute drive was so interesting with the Iinformation and history he provided, felt like only 45 minutes. The horseback riding he scheduled was Awesome!!! An hour of riding on a beach in Portugal!! 60 kilometers of nothing but sand and ocean during the beginning of high tide. My wife and I were more tha. Impressed. If this review could give 10 Stars I would give 11!! It was magic, we have been needing for awhile. Then the Resteraunt. OMG. The best wine and the meal. It was spectacular. The waiter brought a big pot to is with monk fish, clams and huge shrimp! With ri e and the sauce and the wine. Again I say OMG. Phenomenal!! Do t bother Nikki g for other guides. For the price and the quality, courtesy and just great guy, you won't find anyone better!!

Interesting Cram Course In Lisbon's Jewish History…read more... With 3 full days to explore Lisbon, we started with a 3 1/2 hour tour on the first afternoon focusing on the Jewish history of the city. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - We met our guide, Daniel, in the Principe Real section of Lisbon and walked a couple miles toward the Baixa and Chiado neighborhoods. He was more knowledgeable than an encyclopedia...as personable as an entertainer and tied lots of historical loose ends together. - Daniel included many of his own personal views which, depending on your outlook, could add or subtract from the experience. For us, it cut both ways. - All in all, a comprehensive and, at times, intense yet enjoyable 3 1/2 hour walking tour with insight into the Jewish past of Lisbon and Europe at large. - Price seemed reasonable.....100 Euros per person. Cons: - As noted above, Daniel included many of his own personal views which, depending on your outlook, could add or subtract from the experience. For us, it cut both ways. - There was quite a bit of walking up and down hills on cobblestone streets, but it's Lisbon, of course...so that's something to keep in mind. We'd recommend this tour, but first see if the primary guide, Paulo, is available.

After spending the better part of the day with him, we had a dramatically better understanding of the Jewish people's contributions to Portuguese (and Spanish) society over the past 700 years, as well as what life has been like for Jews living on the Iberian Peninsula from the 15th Century through the present. Paolo went above and beyond what we expected, and was also delightful to spend time with. We ended our time with him feeling as though we had spent the day with a great teacher and a friend.

If you're considering booking with LAS Tours, stop thinking and start doing…read more While staying in Lisbon, my in-laws and I wanted to take advantage of our Lisboa Cards and take the train to Sintra for a day trip. It was a rather spontaneous decision over late dinner, so at 11:30 PM or so, I start looking into options and came across LAS Tours. I tried to book tickets through their site, and got an automatic response that I will hear back on my requested booking soon. I was hoping to rent three twizy vehicles to explore Sintra in. Since it was late, and I was not expecting to hear back, I found their tours listed on TripAdvisor, and booked one of the three twizy vehicles we'd need for our group. Before I could book the second, I got a response from Luis at 11:59 pm. Yes you read that correctly, at midnight! He helped me cancel the one vehicle I had booked on TripAdvisor, so I could book directly with LAS Tours as I initially intended, which happened to be at a better price than what's listed on TripAdvisor. We emailed back and forth until about 12:45am to go over all the details. Next morning, I arrived in Sintra, and there is Luis! Does this guy sleep? Sonia got us all squared away. She helped create a route for us based on what we wanted to see, gave us restaurant recommendations, and accommodated us in every way possible. Luis then went over how to drive the vehicle, which is incredibly straight forward and easy. The twizy is a breeze to operate and drive. It can fit into small parking spots which is great when you are visiting sites that draw a lot of tourists. The guided audio provides information as you follow your route, and the directions they provide are very easy to follow. But rest assured that if you go off course or get lost, you'll get a call from Sonia or Luis to help get you back on track since they're able to monitor the vehicle's movements. You can lock up the vehicle, get in and out, and spend as little or as much time at each stop. It's truly incredibly easy and smooth. Also, you can purchase tickets directly from LAS Tours for many of the attractions. It saved us a bunch of time at Peña Palace in particular, as we were able to walk right in with the tickets provided, instead of waiting in the very long line to purchase them prior to entry. Everyone in our group had a great time and agreed it was one of the best ways to get around and see Sintra as a tourist. There is no way we'd be able to cover so much ground and see so many sites without a vehicle, and the twizy was the way to go. It's particularly great on some of the narrow roads, as it's so compact. The butterfly doors also mean that you don't have to worry about someone taking out your door when getting in or out, and you can fit into narrower spaces since you don't have to account for door clearance. I really can't stress enough how accommodating LAS Tours was. It's truly one of the best customer service experiences I've had in my life. They really care about making your adventure as enjoyable as possible and take pride in what they do. The little touches, like taking offering to take photos, providing you with a blanket (it was a chilly morning), and checking in with you are so amazing. I can't say enough good things about them! I LOVED Sintra, more so than Lisbon and Albufeira, even though I really did enjoy all my time in Portugal. LAS Tours made that possible. I will be back, and hope to have another twizy adventure in the not-so-distant future!

It is also one of the oldest cities in the world, the second oldest in Europe after Athens. The museum has five branches. This one is with the history of the city, is located in the former Palácio Pimenta, an 18th century palace built by King John V of Portugal for his mistress. Lots of exhibits and you can expect a brief tour to take at least an hour. A proper examination is closer to three hours if you walk the garden (peacocks!) and a get coffee at the small cafe out there if it's a nice day. The city has been run by Romans, Germanic tribes, Moors and then conquered by Afonso Henriques in 1147. Artifacts on display include ceramics from the 6th century BC, gold pendants from the 2nd century AD, Roman column caps and paintings. One small room is dedicated to the history of the massive Estátua de D. José I in Praça do Comércio and the sculptor, Joaquim Machado de Castro. I found this to be an interesting exhibit. Nearly all the captions are in Portuguese and English. If there's an audio guide on offer, I didn't spot it. [Review 19057 overall - 250 in Portugal - 26 of 2023.]
