The restaurant is now called Taberna Santa Maria. We had excellent service with attention to allergens. We ate delicious food including garlic shrimp, steak, duck and drunk pear for dessert. Garlic shrimp, steak and drunk pear were the standouts. Sangria was excellent. read more

Cod cakes and the tomato soup with rice were delicious! Cod cakes were fried; the inside had the texture of mashed potatoes, but definitely had noticeable, finely shredded fish in it. It was simply seasoned (probably just salt and black pepper). I've never even considered such a simple combo (tomato soup and rice) could be so filling and tasty. The soup helped cut down on the dryness of the cod cakes. By the way, the front of the restaurant has a beautiful waiting area with couches (a bit worn down, though) and colorful flowers. Great area to just relax/drink a cup of coffee if you're not in the mood for a meal. read more

Food is excellent and the staff is so attentive. We ordered an array of appetizers and mains and each of the dishes was outstanding. We tried the croquettes, mushroom appetizer and bruschetta. For mains, we ordered pork cheek, cod, risotto, tuna and zucchini pasta. Each dish had amazing flavor. The pork cheek was so tender and juicy. It melted in your mouth. The cod was cooked to perfection. The risotto was flavorful and al dente. The roasted potatoes exploded with flavor. Our group would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. read more

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at this welcoming and casual restaurant. The broad menu offered many classic Portuguese dishes with a modern twist. We ordered several smaller plates and sides along with a pitcher of excellent sangria. The food was wonderful, the friendly service was very good, and our dinning experience could not have been better. Very good restaurant worth the wait. We didn't have a reservation but it was on our list. They will serve you a drink outside while you wait. Our waitress told us 45 min but we were seated within 25. Lots of people get discouraged by the wait, but not us! We were advised to avoid the meat and vegetables which were meh and instead opt for the seafood. Very good advice! Order anything fish/ceviche type and it will not disappoint. This restaurant was apparently voted one of the five best in Lisbon recently. Staff is young and friendly. This unpretentious little restaurant blew me away! We started out with the fried polenta with Parmesan. Shaped like french fries, slightly crunchy on the outside and nice and warm on the inside, they were amazing. For our main dishes we had the mushroom risotto and the linguine with dried tomatoes black olives parmesan and olive oil. Both were outstanding, but the mushroom risotto was my favorite. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They knew their wine and made an excellent suggestion. They speak impeccable English. What a gem! read more

Table set up is kinda plain jane, but the servers were very nice (and speak great English lol). They played soccer on a big flat screen in the main dining area (which my dad loved). It was a pretty quiet night, so the service was quick. If anything I would suggest the seafood! I had the tuna, my sister the octopus, my dad the shrimp and all of it was amazing!! Sangria was good, Margarita's big and strong and beer super cold. Within walking distance of a lot of hotels so it's an easy find. read more

Found this place on Yelp and very thankful. Great food and service. My wife had lamb chops and I had a shrimp, squid and sausage skewer. Both were excellent, especially the chops. Our first, brief visit to Lisbon. Viking River you (with whom we are traveling) had this as a recommended casual dining choice. The service was friendly and good, and the food met our expectations. The only drawback is the atmosphere- klieg-like neon lights and plain Jane table settings. If you eat four tiny pieces of bread, it's 3€. But hey, that includes one whole pat of butter!
