I always enjoy reading the reviews for this shop. The lady is very much like a typical grandma, only angry and hates people just like the rest of us. Much like the Soup Nazi, you go in, know what you want, buy it, and she will tolerate you. If you are one of the few lucky ones, she will be in a decent mood and you will think you struck gold even when in comparison, she did not do anything special. Customer service is not her strong suit, so do not go in there with your "Let me speak to your manager" haircut and make sure you set the bar very low. Consider yourself warned. Any negative reviews about her from here on out is your own fault. I am looking at you, Yelp review connoisseurs. As far as the food, I have only had the molasses cookies with frosting and they are why I set this at 5 Stars. After taking one bite, Grandma-ma can eye roll me all she wants as long as she delivers the goods. Everything else could be crap and it would not make a difference to me because those are so good. I did not want to order anything because of the cleanliness I seen. I felt awkward and like I had to because we had been standing there and I didn't want to be rude by just walking out after we were greeted. We got a couple sugar cookies and those were actually really good, I only had a sliver of one, but it was good and the other people I was with liked them. Why I am rating them A two star is because there were bugs in their display case, see my photos, one on each side. The ice cream looked freezer burn and I wasn't sure if it was even something you could order. Behind the ice cream it looked dark and crowded which just random stuff. Decorations were random and just kinda awkward all around. The lady who helped us was friendly. After seeing the bugs and all of the crumbs inside the case that made it look so dirty I won't be coming back. read more

Yes, the customer service here is terrible, but as another reviewer points out it's kind of part of the charm. Half the time I am convinced this is a drug front and that they are soooo frustrated that people keep coming back in to the shop despite their best efforts to make sure they never get repeat business. I can almost hear the employee yelling in the back room that it isn't *their* fault, they tried everything they could think of! They tried not being at the counter when the customers arrived, taking several minutes to arrive once the bell was rung, not answering the customer's questions, randomly closing the shop with no indication of when they'd be back, and otherwise appearing disinterested in their customer's satisfaction in every way possible, but people just kept coming through the door asking for cookies! I mean, look at the Yelp reviews, what sane person would come here?!?!? I'm one of those people, I keep coming back because, well, the cookies are cheap and top notch and you know, things have been rough for your neighborhood drug dealer ever since weed was legalized so it if *is* a drug front they probably need the help. By continuing to come here, I am either comically enraging an inexperienced front business owner or supporting a local business that is an anachronism and shouldn't exist in the era of online reviews and fake plastered smiles. But I get a cookie either way. Called in for milkshakes. My wife "Hi." Server "Can I help you?" (Looking around for menu or list - none on view) W: "We see you make ice cream milkshakes." S: "Yes." W: S: W: "What flavors do you have?" S: 'Those (gesturing at freezer cabinet) plus chocolate & vanilla." (We go to look in the cabinet to decide. Barely 30 seconds later..) S: "Well? Have you decided?" (We tell her our hastily chosen selection & she disappears behind a cupboard to reappear & confirm our choices with a tone of disapproval.) 10 minutes later she reappears (after worrying noises from behind the scenes) She had forgotten which shake was which flavor. Not sure why I didn't Yelp this one first. It was right across the street from where I was at and it was 12:45 so I was hungry. I thought I'd stop by and grab some cookies and support a small business. I wish I would've read reviews first as I hate bad customer service. But I can also overlook it if they have an incredible product. This place had terrible customer service AND a bad product. Older lady behind the counter was crazy unfriendly and acted like I was an inconvenience even though I bought a dozen cookies. And she was clearly angry that I asked for two separate boxes. I'm still not sure how she was planning to fit that many cookies into one medium sized pizza box, especially with the toppings on some of the cookies. As for the cookies themselves, I tried three and took the rest to a customer. The snickerdoodle and peanut butter were so dry I drank water with them to choke them down. Do you ever dance a little bit in your chair while you eat? I do, when the food is really tasty. I'm doing it right now actually. I'm eating a turkey and cheese sandwich on a fluffy croissant, a bag of lays, a Pepsi, and a bomb chocolate chip cookie. For all 4 items, I paid less than 7 dollars. Price point is incredible here. A comparably sized meal from McDonald's would probably cost more. And this is homemade! Let's break down every delicious detail of the food I've just been served. The cookie- literally a perfect chocolate chip. It's thin, and gooey. When you break a piece off, the chocolate strings out in an almost erotic way. Food porn. I'm eating out front of her shop and the chocolate is glistening in the sunlight like a unicorn. I'm entranced. The sandwich- she makes a better sandwich than my mama! Please don't repeat that to my mother(she makes a fine one too). I work in the same plaza, and I'm tired of fast food. Which is all the other nearby options I have if I wake up late and don't pack my own lunch. This sandwich is served on a light, fluffy croissant, packed with turkey and cheese, and it's got fresh lettuce(not even lame old iceberg, I mean good lettuce like buttercrunch or something), and tomato. She puts on the perfect amount of mayonnaise; not too much, but I can still taste it. And it's served warm. And I can just TASTE the love she pours into her food. Have you ever tasted food cooked with love? There's no way to describe it, other than it's completely magical. Last but not least, the service. I saw a couple complaints on here about the baker's customer service. But honestly, I think her mildly surly tone is part of the charm. I love her personality. She reminds me of my crazy aunt who says she hates children, but always snuck me sweets and little presents when I was a kid. She's hilarious, and her personality is great. Honestly, she's never been even a tad bit rude to me, but if she was I'd still keep coming. She's got a heart of gold. When I had no cash for a cookie once, she just gave it to me for free because she didn't want a charge from my Visa card. I am a pretty regular customer, and I've spent a lot of my tips at her establishment. I can't imagine she'd give any old Tom, Dick, or Harry a free cookie(I'm special). But she's earned my business for life. The little things she does, whether it's the taste of love in her food, or her kindness when I'm having a bad day at work, really make me think I'd love to be blood related to the cookie lady. Called in to order a cookie cake for my niece and from the start the woman who answered made me feel like I was asking for something ridiculous. Her tone was very condescending. The final straw was when I asked if she could write happy birthday on the cookie cake in red and yellow and she responded "oh wow". I hung up before completing my order. I had her on speaker and my friend heard the tone she and attitude she gave me so I'm not exaggerating one bit. I was trying to support a small local business but ended up just making the cake myself. Also their hours are posted as 12-6 and I went out of my way to go by there around 12 and they had a clock sign saying they would be in at 1. I've been wanting to go this place for a while because I love a good cookie joint (no drug front pun intended). Per other yelp reviews I was expecting--even looking forward to--the poor customer service. When I walked in to the chotsky-filled storefront a man shuffled out from the back to serve me (as the other reviews promised!!) The customer service was fine, not exceptional and not offensive. I got three cookies to meet the $5 credit card minimum. Appearance and taste-wise, they are pretty underwhelming. Good enough to finish but not good enough to wish there was more. The peanut butter was okay but unremarkable and the oatmeal chocolate chip was more like a chocolate chip cookie with a sprinkle of oats (and lacked cinnamon to truly make it an oatmeal cookie!), but the cookies and cream one was actually pretty good. Still, it was nothing I wouldn't be able to make myself at home. All in all, I got what I came for. I'm not mad about my experience but don't think I need to return. read more

OMG! I love this place. We always saw it when stopping in to OCCU or Radar Toys (it's right next to them). One day Radar Toys had a Cookies Cookies coupon, so we went over. And, wow! Their cookies are sooo good, they're divine. They also have a unique and creative selection. Our kids now walk there (1+ mile) at least once a week to get a cookie. I went in 20 minutes after they opened at noon and there were very few cookies available, no chocolate chip, no sugar cookies, but she assured me that they are getting 6 new flavors of ice cream. Don't let the grumpy woman who runs the shop chase you off. She was annoyed that I said "hello" to get her attention. And annoyed that she had to put together a box for my bakers dozen. AMAZING COOKIES! I believe I have turned into the Cookie Monster. These little golden gems are priceless! Packed with tons of sugar I'm sure.. But quite literally melt in your mouth. I'm a cookie snob. These cookies taste delicious, even though they don't look perfect. That's a good sign--it means they're real and not from a factory. The cookie sizes were slightly different, some were thicker or spread, so even though I imagine they were the same volume, they didn't necessarily look like they were. (Good to keep in mind if you're picking up cookies for little kids--might be worth asking for two similarly sized ones!) Yesterday I tried a chocolate chip cookie, a peanut butter cookie with Reese's Pieces, and a chocolate revel bar. (The baker seemed impressed I'd made that before. See? Cookie snob.) The cookies were large and tasted fresh; cookies can stale pretty quickly when left uncovered, so I'm guessing these were made either that day or the day before. I didn't get anything iced--maybe next time, like the chocolate marshmallow cookie. If you're going, $5 credit card minimum (which is why I ended up getting three items.) This place isn't much to look at & had me second guessing if I wanted to buy cookies. It's not "filthy" but it does have a lot of clutter on one side & just doesn't look like your average bakery. I absolutely love this place. The cookies are made daily and they are big and soft. The price is great, only $1.50 a cookie, and they are big. My favorite is the frosted sugar cookie with the marshmallow chocolate a close second. In many reviews people seem to say the lady is grumpy but I haven't had that problem. She has always been very nice to me. My 3 year old and 11 year old love this place. She decorates fun cookies for each holiday, which the kids love. read more

I've passed by this place god knows how many times in the past 15 years, but today curiosity got the best of me and I finally went in. A big sign in the window was advertising root beer floats for 75 cents, but I was there for the COOKIES. It was late in the day, and there were maybe ten varieties left in the front case, most of them pretty standard (sugar, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, m&m). I picked out a snickerdoodle, thinking it a fairly standard item by which to judge the place's overall quality, and something called a "chocolate marshmallow" cookie, which on cursory inspection looked like little more than a puddle of ganache. I assumed it was probably some sort of marzipan-y concoction. The snickerdoodle was a little disappointing; a little dry, not very sweet, probably would have been better with some tea. The chocolate marshmallow, though, oh god. When I got it home, the heat of being in my backpack had melted some of the frosting into the paper, which ended up being kind of helpful in revealing the cookie's anatomy. Lifting the paper baggie also lifted away most of the fudgy layer of frosting, revealing a pat of marshmallow fluff spread atop a chocolate cookie, which was itself littered with chocolate chips. I ended up warming the whole gooey mess in the microwave and eating it with a spoon. It was rich and chocolaty and sweet and probably the best $1.25 I've spent this month. I can't speak for the rest of their offerings yet, but I'll definitely be back when my next chocolate hankering takes hold. read more

I needed some cookies for Super Bowl Sunday. I called on a Friday morning & the owners were more than willing to fill my order but were going to be out of town for the weekend. They suggested we wrap the cookies up in a pizza box to keep fresh until Sunday. I had no idea what they looked like when I picked up my order Friday evening, but willing to pay & enjoy on Sunday. I asked if they could do some decorating with helmets & footballs & of course in the colors of Packers & Steelers. Arriving to the party on Sunday & reveling the cookies (from the pizza box), I couldn't believe how detailed each & every cookie was. They were a big hit with the party & the cookies were delicious. No Stars!!!I saw this place advertised in a magazine at my hotel and couldn't wait to go here. The lady couldn't be more rude and they had about 6 cookies in the display case. This was at 11:30. Although they have many wonderful cookie options, you would not believe how incredible their sugar cookies with buttercream icing are. It sounds simple,but they make this common cookie amazing. i dont know i have heard great things about these cookies. so i got 1 choc marshmallow and 1 frosted sugar cookie. what i noticed right off the bat was the frosting was probably 4 x the amt of the cookie. the cookie was very thin, i would say a little thicker than a crepe. but the icing was 4 times more. i was a little hesitant but hey i like icing more than cake. but afterwards my stomach was turning. and a few hrs later i was throwing up my spleen. i had never thrown up that much in my whole life. i felt awful, like death warmed over. ok so the next day i thought maybe it was just that cookie kind. i used to have mrs field's choc marshmallow cookies that we loved and never caused me an issue. so i thought the choc marshmallow would be ok.ate breakfast, lunch no issue. for dinner i had what i have had always with no issue, a grilled cheese. still feel ok, ha the choc marshmallow one which again the cookie was super thin like a crepe and the icing was again 4 times as much. mrs field's were so much better. nice good size cookie and a thin but enough amt of marshmallow and choc on top. these were the opposite. anyway this one did the same thing. afterwards my stomach felt like i drank battery acid. tried not to throw up. hate throwing up. but i woked up with an urgent need to throw up. again i have never thrown up that much. both times as i was i tasted the sweetness of the cookies. it was awful. and to admit this they werent that good. i mean seemed like all frosting and not enough cookie for a balance. will i ever buy again..not on your life. i dont have food allergies or anything i cant eat. so i think it was just too much sweetness and not enough cookie...miss mrs field's cookie shop..those were AA great.. read more
