Kausha and Breata are great. When the pandemic caused the cancellation of our flights, we got a voucher and we're able to travel to Europe this summer. W saved about 30% off of regular airlines prices and we able to contact our agents anytime we wanted even after business hours. British airlines changed our return flight and Beata was was to rebook us on a Sunday afternoon, the ultimate in personal service. W didn't have to hold for hours waiting for the airline to pick up. We have used them for seven years and always the same good service. We hear that they are part of American Express but operate independently. read more

I can't really rate their service too much since I didn't wind up purchasing tickets through them. I contacted them a year in advance for a trip to Australia. they answered promptly and told me they would get in touch. I reached after several months asking if they had prices and received another kind of "welcome to cook travel" answer to my question. This was the strangest looking business in the neighborhood and seemed to be a front because only one man was there with a cowboy hat at night. The posters in the windows looked to be from the 80s and there was a wicker Eiffel tower and some model airplanes with an inch or two of dust covering them. It reminding me of a type writer repair shop in Williamsburg that was only open at night in the aughts. They left and now we have nothing to point and laugh at on our block. Update: 6/25: It's nice to see Cook Travel addressing the concerns, unfortunately the comments aren't accurate. 1. We NEVER approved being in Basic Economy; we were told we couldn't select our seats, but never that we couldn't check in online, no carry on luggage, and boarded last. We were clear that while price was a factor, so was convenience and comfort. I have the email paper trail on this. 2. We didn't receive the check reimbursement. A screenshot of the dollar amount is not enough to show us that it ever got sent. Why doesn't the screenshot show who the check is made out to? Or you could check your records to see that the check cleared (which is hasn't, I guarantee that). 3. We were informed that Cook Travel received the AirNZ maintenance alert on May 1, thereby making our proactive communication on May 9 late. If this is incorrect, there is poor communication in your internal office and between the airlines. It's also a shame that Katrina has not reached out to us to address any concerns or apologize for the use of profanity. But we will leave that you to work through as an organization. POOR Communication, booking errors, not proactive, don't deliver on promises. We had a terrible first experience with Cook Travel. We used Katrina Roberts to book Business Class flights to NZ and Australia. The whole process was a nightmare made worse by extremely poor communication, both over email and phone. Two sentence emails are hardly acceptable when you are spending over $10,000 in airfare. We didn't receive communication when airfares went on sale (I notified her), got booked into the wrong fare class, never got reimbursed for an overnight hotel stay on route home (inability to have a continuous flight), and was never notified when AirNZ announced maintenance to their fleet, affecting our whole return leg. I had to continuously reach out to fix the fare class and get reimbursement. The final straw was Katrina fuming over the phone, "I'm not trying to f*** you" and hung up on my husband. I had the fortune to reach Nick Fleetwood, listed as a sub-manager at Cook Travel. He cleaned up the fare class within a couple of HOURS. Nick was also able to fix our return trip since there was zero communication from Katrina. I am shocked at the complete lack of communication from Katrina, her poor customer service, her profanity in talking to a first time customer, and utter failure in showing any level of proactive-ness as a travel agent to Business Class customers. The only reason for 2 stars is we are thankful to Nick who has stepped in with a full client load. read more

They have definitely slipped over the years, and I guess the current Covid situation is putting them over the edge. I had to cancel a flight, for non-Covid reasons, that was booked with a credit from a previously canceled flight. The credit was for $5500. The agent, Dennis, said in order to cancel I had to contact United directly, which I did. United accepted my request and refunded the full ticket amount. The refund went back to Cook Travel mid April. Two months later, after dozens of emails and messages, and filing a credit card dispute, they agreed to refund $4100. Where is the rest of my money?? They claim it is non refundable from the airline (who sent me proof it was refunded) and "processing fees" which I was never told about. I am unable to reach a supervisor or manager, and the agent no longer returns my calls. read more

Final Update: Blake the CEO apologized and said that he wasn't informed of the entire situation and that they would make it right. So far they have found a solution that is only slightly worse than what I paid for but are refunding some money and paying for an extra hotel night to cover the additional day. Blake was courteous and professional on the phone. I've bumped my rating up to two since he is making it right but I still feel like they should have gone farther above and beyond over how bad this mistake was and for the amount of stress it caused my wife and I. Taking my wife on an anniversary trip I paid 4100 for flights in full 2 months ago and the agent Sanjay did not actually book one of my flights. They say they are trying to solve the issue but all the options they keep trying to feed me are either eating up my time and money or are a lesser option than what I paid for. Booking this on my own now would probably cost me $2-3k more. Update: I received a response from Blake the CEO but it was completely unacceptable and blames me for the error. They claim I did not confirm the travel. However, I have responded with proof of call logs and billing statements. Their email on Feb 21st shows a price on my ticket of $2339, a call log on Feb 21st shows a call to and from the agent, then a charge on Feb 23rd for the exact $2339 amount. Stay away! I was charged $1900 for a $964 business flight. I admit I was not able to locate the deal on my own until I downloaded the phone app for British airways and checked the flight the very next day after ticketing. I was shocked. I initially thought it was a great deal because I was unable to find anything close in price on a major carrier. I had checked BA online but the deal had not shown up. Still hasn't. Downloading the carrier app seems the way to go. I Emailed Cook Travel and let them know I had found the flight and the low price. No reply. These guys are thieves. read more

If I could give these guys no stars, I would. Most horrendous travel except experience thanks to them as well as incompetent people who can't figure out how to issue refunds for mistakes. I called the better business bureau and had to cancel the charges they put on my credit card because they just don't seem to care at all about their clients. Their service has certainly slipped. I have used them in the past with great success but they seem to have really slipped this past year. I had to make a medical emergence change to a reservation this past summer and it took them days to get around to responding to me - too late for the emergency. And now I just tried to make a new reservation two days ago without success. Someone called me the next day to ask i anyone had gotten back to me - no one had. Another day has passed and still no contact from them. I just contacted another consolidator who was focused and attentive and gave me three options from which to choose. read more

Purchased 4 business class tickets to Asia, one of which should have been priced at a child's fare. Knuckleheads at Cook charged me for an adult fare. My advice is to go with someone who knows how to book tickets. read more

I have to rescind my latest update. Cook travel contacted me today by phone. The agent gave some believable excuses about how we went awry. He also offered some additional future discounts to try to win me back. I have decided to not take advantage of the offer. In the end, It was 4 months before they tried to make this right. But at least, in the end, they did try. I won't use them again, but maybe others will be more forgiving. read more

We used Frances Tan for a trip to Asia that has lot's of different elements and complexity. Our original intent was to use Cook for only the flight portion but found the service and follow up were much better than we normally get at agencies. I have been using several consolidators for my business-class flights to Europe and Asia as I travel frequently (4-5 months away per year). Most recently, I used Ms. Kausha Ghia at Cook Travel in NYC. She was very attentive to my detailed request and quick to respond. I spoke with her on the phone and sent her my priority list for flights. She responded quickly and highly professionally to my detailed priority list and provided perfect flights to meet my needs. I always try to use business-class night flights to cut the jet-lag to a minimum number of days and Ms. Ghia was outstanding in her service. I will ask her and Cook to provide my flights in the future as well. Excellent job on their part! read more

I have now booked three trips with them between Austin, Texas and Athens, Greece. Most recently, I was having difficulty finding an itinerary that worked for my schedule. The agent found me a good one, but checking online reviews of the flight, it appeared the Business Class section did not offer lay flat seating. The agent was able to confirm this, and then find me an alternate booking. I definitely saved over published fares and my travels were completely seamless. I purchased a business class ticket in October 2014 ATL/PVG then DEL/ATL for travel in March of 2015. Turns out I needed to change the dates and destination. Dennis got me a refund on the Flight from PVG to DEL. I called Dennis in early 2015 to change this ticket to R/T ATL to DEL. I wanted to go in early December of 2015. He reply was to send me an itinerary from Lufthansa with a locator number. When I called Lufthansa in November of 2015 to get seats, I find out there is no ticket, only a reservation. If I had arrived at the airport togo, I would not have boarded. I called Dennis at Cook and explained. He told me Lufthansa was correct; there was no ticket. The original Air Canada ticket could not be used and the outbound date was more than one year after the purchase date. I asked why he did not tell me this when I gave him dates of travel. No realistic reply. He then told me I could go on Air Canada, but for another $1400.00. I told him I would not pay now have lost this money. I sent all information to NY BBB and they have now closed the case as they cannot help me other than gather information. My next step in NY Attorney General (I do not live in NY) Internet Consumer Affairs. I all my business dealings over 35 years, I have never come across this type of business unprofessionalism. If Dennis had told me the boundaries and rules of the Air Canada ticket, I would have certainly made a reservation in the timeframe that was relevant. This outfit, from my two experiences, seems to be a joke. They indicate certain rates are available, but cannot deliver. Then they go silent. Unfortunately, one tends to stick with an agent even though the rate may go away, so the silence is offputting. My experience is that trying to do business with Cook is a waste of time read more

Don't understand the 1 star reviews. All of my experiences and those of friends and colleagues to whom I've recommended Cook have been extremely positive. I've never had an issue with someone getting back to me. It's always best to check airlines directly in conjunction with using Cook but they are almost always a better deal. Note also that many of their fares can be cancelled with a $750 fee and a $650 fee to change. You cannot do this booking directly with an airline. Also you typically get the frequent flyer miles and the ability to select your seats more than 24 hours in advance. read more

Updating my review from 11/17/2013 in light of management's reply (2 years later, on 4/9/2015). Management's reply: "Told you not to fly them" - Not true. Actually, I had never heard of the airline before. Your agent recommended it. You could not know that because the agent with whom I spoke was no longer employed after the problem arose. We never spoke with you when booking the flight. Management's reply: ". . . the airline offered to fly you the next day." You're making this up. The next open seat on that airline was more than a week later because they had great prices. Management's reply: "you must reconfirm flights in a foreign country, particularly with small no-name airlines." Actually, we had confirmed seats and tried to check in 5 hours ahead of time, before leaving for the airport. It was already too late; the flight was taking off. The airline notified your company of the flight change (rather than us, as that's how the agent set up the ticketing) that the flight was moved up by half a day. Your company was supposed to have notified us. "We offered to split the difference" - This is simply not true. You didn't even offer to help get a reimbursement from the airline. The airline blamed your company and provided the date and time when they notified you through SABRE, which we forwarded to you. You took no responsibility at all and were hostile and uncooperative. "You did get two transatlantic flights at a considerable discount" - I wish this were the case. My advice to others seeking to work with an agency is to find another. read more
