Okay, I haven't had Cook Out in 8 years so I really wanted to give them a go to see if they're still as good as I remembered. HECK. YES. This location excelled at everything! Even the parking lot was clean. Customer service was amazing! Jasmine was so helpful and patient while my crew decided what all they wanted at the drive thru. Food didn't take long to be made either, and when it came through the window it was piping hot and delicious as ever! We went with the cheese quesadillas, fries, corn dogs, caramel fudge milkshake, double burger and a huge sweet tea. I can't say it enough, this location is the ONE you want to hit up! :D read more

This is the Cook Out on Hospital Dr in Winchester, KY. I'd never eaten at a Cook Out, but thought I'd give it a go. Boy! Glad I did! I got the Out West single burger and it was yummy. The burger itself looks to be hand patted and not machine made like nearly all fast food burgers. There was a generous two slices of bacon along with the various sauces and pickles. I took the onion off--don't like raw onion. The bun was soft and fresh. The burger alone was plenty for supper. I didn't try any sides or drinks, but I will next time. The drive-thru staff were polite, friendly and efficient. I will def go back and recommend to friends and family. Thanks for the great experience! read more

As nice as I can put this, the patties on the burgers are now about the size of silver dollars. I've sent food back twice in my life. I politely went to the counter and showed the patty to the guy working the counter and asked "is this how big the meat patty is supposed to be?" As it took up about half of the sandwich. He said it looked the two patties cut in half to make the burger a double. They remade it and sadly the patties were the same size. I understand cutting costs to save money but for 11 bucks I can go to McDonald's just the same and get a quarter pounder value meal. I atleast expect the patty to go from one end of the bun to the other. I won't be eating here again. Kid at the counter was nice about it there's nothing they can do about the patties being the size of a buffalo nickel. read more

6/17/25 at 3:30pm. My daughter and I took the 5 grandkids over to Cookout. 1 couple was leaving otherwise the place was empty. All of the tables with dirty as well as the booster seat and high chair. We used diaper wipes to clean the table and seats as well as the high chair and booster. The fries were over salted as well. We did not have a very good experience. The Christian music was nice. read more

I ordered two classic grilled chicken breast sandwiches for lunch. They are five dollars a piece so I thought I would get a decent piece of chicken. This is falsely advertised as a rest when it is actually one grilled chicken tender that is on the sandwich and it doesn't even come close to covering the bun. Very overpriced for the lousy serving that they provide. read more

Went through the drive thru and paid. Then was told I didn't pay for my drink so I paid more. I was subsequently handed two drinks; I only ordered one. The girl at the window had an "oh well" attitude. I'm not sure if this is a little scam the girl at the window had going or not. I love the burgers and the milkshakes. However, I'm hesitant to ever go through the drive thru again. read more

First "inside" visit since start of pandemic. Good news & bad news: Good: we were only people inside (drive thru very busy) so it seemed safe. Good milkshake and corn dog and onion rings. Very pleasant staff. Bad: I generally love their BBQ sandwich; but it was off tonight. Worst was that the tables, floors and trash bins might not have been cleaned since we were last there. The food is excellent and the store was very clean. The manager on duty was helpful but obviously short handed or all new staff. One burger had no meat on it, the cole slaw container was all but empty. Once everything was situated by the female manager on duty, the food was excellent. read more

This is quite a "unique" place. So the ordering is interesting. Someone ordering a tray of food gets an entree, two sides, and a drink for a "low price". My low price was $7.41. Seems like if one orders the "Walkin' Taco", they throw ingredients in a Nacho Cheese Doritos bag with crushed up chips. That is really interesting. Of course, I also had to order the Cheerwine, which honestly tasted like watered down cherry soda. Nothing amazing, but definitely a new place with a unique theming. Suggestion: Why not have someone order an entree, a side, a drink, and a dessert? Make a full course fast food meal! Edit: Just noticed that this place does not have desserts other than shakes. If they tried what I suggested, they would just make the fourth item a beverage/shake, thus giving only two other items and now we are stuck with a three item combo like other fast food places. OK, this was my last visit to Cook-Out. Four tries in 2 yrs. This visit for lunch was another disappointment. My wife and I ordered two different burgers with different sides and different drinks. The nice young lady at the counter said: "Oh you ordered exactly the same." So we knew the ride had begun. I got my burger correct. Got the wrong side. Wife's burger was incorrect - but correct side. Can't get any ketchup, straws, napkins, or anything on your own.....all behind the counter. Wife ordered a milkshake. Said it was good but nothing better than you get elsewhere. My burger was OK, not great, and left a strong taste in my mouth. The cole-slaw was nothing but chopped cabbage. Sorry Cook-Out, but there are too many burger options in town to come back. We stopped here on our way to Red River Gorge. It was raining really hard so we tried to go through drive thru but couldn't hear the staff. I went in to order and had to wait for awhile for any staff to come to the lobby. Cookout is great for the budget- we ordered a chicken snack wrap, small cheeseburger, hush puppies and corn dogs for $10. Perfect for a road snack! On our way to Red River Gorge we decided to stop here for a light snack. I ran inside to use the restroom which was clean as was the dining area. Since we needed to hit the road we ordered take out. I got a corn dog and hush puppies, the food was warm and what you'd expect from a classic corn dog or hush puppy. I don't think I'd come back since the menu is a little limited to just burgers, chicken, fries and milkshakes. read more

my first experience at cookout and an awful one. a couple of friends and i ordered 4 trays. initially they forgot one of the drinks, then after opening the trays, we realized that two cheese curds were missing. It has taken then 15 minutes after the initial complaint to get them. read more

I hadn't been to Cookout in awhile and went in on a Tuesday night to order a peach cobbler milkshake. After going inside (which was very dirty) and waiting 30+ minutes, I took my milkshake home to discover it barely had any peach or graham crackers in it. I am very disappointed and will not be returning. These are not the delicious milkshakes I remember. The staff was very nice and apologetic as they were obviously understaffed. read more

Always a cautious endeavor when you setup a eatery in the place of a previously failed food business. Cook Out seemed to have a lot of things you would see on a burger joint menu. The shakes are nice touch. The food wasn't all that impressive. One of the sides i selected was called a bacon wrap. Never heard of a bacon wrap so I decided to give it a try. It was 3 slices of bacon wrapped in a tortilla. LOL. I know, I know, anything with bacon is supposed to be good. Very un-impressive combination. The Cajun chicken sandwich was descent and the fries were ok. Diet coke tasted off. I would suggest you stay on top of you game being across the street from another very successful burger stand. I hope the owners can make it work. I did ask for a menu and was handed a paper copy with NO PRICES. Glad my bill didn't end up being $20 for a drive thru sandwich. read more

The shakes are excellent and a different but good variety on the menu. They use fresh banana and it is so good.

It's great to have a new BBQ joint in Winchester but I wasn't as impressed as I was hoping to be! The side items we had where amazing. The hush puppies and bread where great but the BBQ pork was extremely dry and didn't have a very good flavor. This is the only time I've ate here so I plan on giving it another try this week so hopefully it's better!!! read more

It was ok. I ordered the burger and onion rings. I didn't like the pickles on the burger and with everything they put on the burger made the bun soggy around the outside of the bun. Also the onion rings are small and you get 4 of them. What is that? Also when you ask for ketchup they gave me 2 packets. I mean come on with the condiments. read more
