I was here for the Lexington Antique Show held at the Athens Schoolhouse. Stopped in for lunch before leaving the area. I ordered the Fried Bologna Sandwich and Homemade BBQ Chips. The sandwich was stacked with thin sliced bologna which was slightly charred. The chips were fresh and crispy. Lemonade was my drink of choice today. Great lunch for around $15. read more

This is a perfect hidden gem. The interior is nice, but it still has that lunchroom feel, which is pretty cool. The service is great, prices aren't bad, and the food is great, made fresh to order, and comes out pretty quick. read more

I think this place speaks to me because it reminds me of the elementary schools of my youth. First and foremost I am thrilled that this building is still in use! I decided on a whim that I would run out here for a weekday lunch. I decided on the BBQ sandwich and potato salad. It was a great, tender tasty pork bbq with a good dollop of coleslaw on top. The potato salad could have used a bit of mustard, but that is just me being a mustard lover. LOL You order at the counter and the food is brought to you. Everyone is friendly and the service was fast, I had no problem eating here on my lunch hour. I loved the location. It is actually in an old elementary school lunchroom. They have a pretty extensive menu on the blackboard. There were several things on the menu I want to try so I will be back. I saw that they had handicapped accessible entrance but did not use it. The hours are pretty limited so I would double check their social media before heading that way. read more

Go to this place!!! Hard to find, but so worth it! It's in an old school, in the basement. There are signs, but... I almost missed out. Elevated comfort food, like fried bologna sandwich, burgers, hot chicken. Done perfectly and also a good selection of healthier options. House made chips seasoned to perfection, house made desserts, pasta salad and potato salad. Super friendly and accommodating staff. This place is a gem in a sea of fast food garbage! This is such a neat little place - a hidden gem you could say. They're inside of an old elementary basement/ old cafeteria. They offer menu items, weekday buffets, and tasty sweet treats. Prices are reasonable and worth it. Their social media lets you know what their rotating items are. The staff are amazing and so nice - true southern charm! The food is delicious but the Fridays buffets are really a treat! All items are made in house and so fresh. Definitely a place I would recommend checking out! read more

What a unique place! The original place we wanted to try during our travels from Ohio to Tennessee was closed due to a family emergency so we came here instead. It's actually in the basement of an old elementary school. It appears that the school is still operational but it's not. They do antique sales in the school on some frequency. The "lunch room " is at the back of the building. There's plenty of signage. When you walk in there's a counter that has premade food- like slices of cake and containers of pimento cheese, ham salad, etc. The board on the wall has the vast menu. There wasn't a special listed on this day and the lady behind the counter (who was very nice) said they also had fresh green beans that weren't listed on the board. You placed your order there at the counter and then they bring it to you. My husband ordered a grilled chicken wrap with the green beans. I ordered a grilled pimento cheese sandwich on wheat with the green beans. Both sandwiches were cut in half so we both ate 1/2 of each. Both were delicious! The green beans were delicious and probably the best we ever had. They were roasted and then finished on a griddle. They were very moist but not greasy. We highly recommend them. The food came out quickly and hot. Frank, who brought the food to us, was very nice, too. The place was very cute with nice decor. We are so very happy we were able to find it. Hidden gem! In the basement of Athens School House. Fun environment with vintage tables, chairs and tablecloths. Order from the counter and the Friday night menu. The food is really good. Delicious burger with tots, comforting chicken pot pie and more. Service is quick and servers are friendly. Highly recommend Friday night dinner menu. They have the best Country Ham Salad that I have ever had! I can't wait to pick up a pint to bring home again. The ham is grown and cured locally. It is a real treat! As much as I like this little place, it is very expensive for lunch. read more

What a joke. Did not open when it said that should be open. Opened an hour late. After a 15 minute wait, we were told they were out of most food items. No burgers. No desserts. Nothing. This is not the first time they have been out of desserts. It was disappointing this visit and the last two visits. I am done. I will never be back. read more

We saw the signs posted around work so my coworkers and I gave it a try. Was a bit pricey, but not for the quality. Hours are kind of short, but I look forward to a Saturday visit. My co workers had burgers, I had the pimento cheese burger. Will run around 11 dollars, but due to time constraints well worth the variety and quality. Look forward to online ordering. Will save some pick up and wait time. My coworker had the strawberry cake and said it was the best he had ever had. Give it a try. Beats Wendy's and Mac Donald's everyday! read more

We so agree, that pricy for quality. My husband asked for slaw as one if sides. Came in a catsup plastic container, 2 bites, and it was $3.00! Same for serving baked beans. 2 bites, container gone. He asked for tap water, they were hesitant, wanted you to buy a drink, but he got one. Made us feel uneasy. His sandwich looked nothing like the picture hanging on outside of building. On flip side, the people are very nice, it's just food way too pricy for quality. Another person said that Ramsey's way better for price and quality/quantity point. My husband still hungry after we left, for $16.00 he got little. We drank water. It's a drive out, I don't think will be back unless something changes. read more
