For them recently open they are doing great! No hang ups, I've not experienced any wrong orders or heard any friends complain. Yeah lunch right now is a pain to get in and out but it's new....everyone is trying to go at lunch. For as long as the lines are though, they are quick! Food is good and the milkshakes are awesome! I had a terrible experience in New Bern Cookout yesterday. My family looked online at the menu before we left to simplify ordering. There was no place on the website that stated the dining room was closed and drive thru only. We arrived to find a small sign on the door that you had to go to in order to be able to read it and discover only the drive thru was open. So back in the car and drove around, placed our orders for the 4 of us, it was almost $40. We took the food to the tables in front of the restaurant so as to not eat in the car, where we discovered everyone's order was wrong, only 1 person got their 2 sides, others had only 1side or none. The hamburger was bland and dry and the bun stale. The receipt showed they didn't ring up the sides that were missing. I sure wasn't going to drive through again. I walked around the drive through and told the man at the window I was missing the double sides, they brought 1 out to the front for us. Still missing sides! I give up. I don't think I will be going back there. read more

I live one block away and (use) to eat there everyday. Tonight I ordered a strawberry cheesecake milk shake and paid the extra 3 dollars for extra cheesecake. They didn't. I took it back it and the black manager basically called me a liar and swore that there was even after I poured it out in front of him i've never seen a manager so unprofessional and four of $5.32 milkshake he should've made sure it was right or replaced it. He won't last long as a manager he should be washing dishes if he's that stupid. I'll never give them another dollar of mine. read more

Always has great late night food!! I NEVER get the correct change back from the drive through. Tonight my total was 15.30 and they give me 3.00 back. I couldn't go in due to having children in the car most times... this is the first time actually reviewing it, although it has happened at least 3 times already. I was so excited for New Bern to be getting a Cook Out because we enjoyed it a lot back in Roanoke Rapids, NC before we moved here. You get more food for a better price than any other fast food restaurant -- I mean, leftovers from fast food?! Really? The BURGERS are amazing, fresh, real hamburger meat grilled on the grill, no frozen patty mess. I love the chicken quesadilla but beware, it's more tortilla and cheese than chicken. It's definitely gotten thin. The milkshakes are bangin' too. I don't get tired of this place. The inside is nice, too. I'm not a fan of the Christian music playing on the radio, however. read more

This is one of my husbands favorite places to eat because it is cheap for 4 people to eat with lots of food. We have been coming to this location for almost a year now every Sunday. I order the same thing each time since I am kind of picky when we eat out. I have NEVER been able to grab my order and sit down and go straight to eating. My husband and our two kids can though. Each visit I make I have to return my fries because somehow it is very hard to add light seasoning to them. Then on top of that they are adding things to my sandwich that is not on the receipt or not putting everything on the sandwich that is suppose to be there. Every time it is the cashier not paying attention and ringing it up wrong. Or it is the cooks not paying attention. Most of the time when we arrive we can walk right up and order so there is no rush hour going on. Not to mention I have also had to take my fries back the time before last due to blonde hair on my fries and those fries were still missing the light seasoning too. Also I have made a complaint to one of the managers name Andrea and she was too busy to not worry about my concern and attend to other things too. Plus we have notice they put cashiers on the register who seem to act like they have no training in that position too except a few. This location in my opinion needs to straighten up. read more

We had burger combos (3) with fries and chili, onion rings and cole slaw, and fries and onion rings. They only gave 4 onions rings. burgers were ok, nothing to right home about. Cole slaw was not bad. Chili smelled better than it tasted. But you can't beat the price of $4.99 for a combo. read more

We love Cookout. One problem I keep having at this particular cookout is getting charged extra for a huge drink when I ask for a regular drink with my tray. Otherwise, the food is good and I can feed my family of 6 for under $25 and still have plenty of food for everyone. read more

So, I just went to "Cook Out" and got an order consisting of a chicken wrap, beef quesadilla and a reg lemonade. My lemonade was essentially a glass of ice. The quesadillas (there were two) were lacking in beef. By that, I mean there must have been less that a teaspoon of hamberger in the wraps with american cheese. They were just as thin with the beef & cheese in them as they would have been empty. All I could taste was the chipotle sauce and wrap. The chicken wrap wasn't bad though. However, I spent over 6 dollars for 2 minute portions of food and a very small galss of ice. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon! read more

It was really awful. The BBQ pulled pork looked like cat food. We kept an open mind and tried it anyway. There was no BBQ flavor in it. All I could taste was vinegar. When I asked for 4 BBQ packets (which were about a teaspoon each) the one girl put 4 on the counter and the one training her quickly snatched 2 away and told me to have a nice evening. When I told her I needed 4 she actually had the nerve to ask me why. I told her "well, since my food look and tastes like cat food it's so awful, and my BBQ has no BBQ in it, I need 4." This is for 2 people too, so it's actually 2 for each of us. The hush puppies were gross, better at Long John Silvers. The shakes looked good but considering I threw 3/4 of each meal in the trash, they were not getting anymore of my money. It was disgusting. Corporate office was condescending to say the least. Apparently it's a Lexington style BBQ which is vinegar based. No warning on menu though that it's not traditional BBQ.
