I would like to show this Cook-Out location some love because, I don't get a chance to get home to NC often but when I do I always stop by a Cook-Out. Well, I just so happen to be visiting my home state for a wedding and was able to grab lunch on my way out, and I'll tell you, the food never disappoints. This location was on point! The food was fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection! The woman that took my order was super nice and friendly, and was very polite when she greeted me at the window to accept my payment. When you live away from home and you come back to visit, you always want to go to the places that remember and that reminds you of the taste of your home. I'm so glad Cook-Out does that for me, and that they never switch up or change the food. It stays and tastes the same wherever I get it in NC, and I love that! Thank goodness I don't live anywhere near a Cook Out, because I would come here ALL.THE.TIME and clog my arteries with sweet grease. Cook Out is a fast foodie's dream. College students love this place for their $4.99 combo in which you choose 1 main (burger, hot dogs, quesadilla, chicken strips, etc.), 2 sides (onion rings, hushpuppies, slaw, chicken nuggets, etc.), and a beverage. That's enough food for 2 people at only 5 dollars. It's insane. I ordered the combo with a hamburger, fries, hushpuppies, and a Coke float. I didn't realize until I looked at the receipt that cheese on the burger costs extra. Employees should tweak their speech to say, "Do you want to add cheese for 50 cents more?" instead of just asking if you want cheese. The fries were great, and the hushpuppies were delicious, sweeter than normal just the way I like. I like the option of adding a float as a drink because it's like getting ice cream with your meal. It was good, but a little chunky?...yeah. This location offers a lot of seating including booths and tables with chairs. They play Christian music. While every one else, except Popeye's has opened their dinning rooms, Cook Out has not. At least post some signs that your dinning room is closed. I prefer not to eat in my car and would like a refill on a drink, neither which is possible at this location. I just wanna say, I've been going to cookout for a year now every night because they are the only place open after I get off. And it is absolutely amazing. I've become a regular at this point and just want to say Spencha makes my entire night by the service she provides. She's always been so so sweet and nice to me every night and I have never gotten service from a fast food place as good as the service I get here- especially from her. My teenage nephews get super excited about this place. The food is very cheap; you can get a "plate" with a burger or sandwich plus a drink and two sides, and the sides are things like chicken quesadillas and corndogs--all for around $5. I got a small burger. You can choose a number of toppings like grilled or raw onions, mustard, mayo, ketchup, cajun seasoning, cheese, tomato, lettuce, etc. It was decent, and had a bit of a "flame grilled" taste. The bun wasn't great, though. The regular fries were good. They also have thick shakes that everyone was talking about, but I didn't try one. The chili cheese fries were pretty gross, though. Tasted like gross Hormel chili and velveeta. I can see my young nephews being into that, but not me. As a recent transplant from up north, Cookout was a revelation. As a poor student who is something of a night-owl, I found myself visiting Cookout an unhealthy number of times per week. I absolutely love the trays from cookout. A hearty burger, fries, slaw and a float for $5 is a deal that is absolutely unheard of in my old neck of the woods. The biggest surprise was that the quality didn't suffer from the price. This food easily trumps any meal you'd be getting from McDonalds at any price. Add to that the fact that Cookout is open til 4am and you have yourself a recipe for a very unbalanced diet. While I do love Cookout, I have to dock it a star simply because they are one of the most frequent offenders of getting my order wrong. Had the absolute worst experience about an hour or so ago in the drive thru. As my daughter and I pulled up to order, I asked the rep for one moment so my daughter could read the menu. After a few moments, I said okay, we're ready to order . . . no response. I said it again a little louder, and again no response. I'd assumed that since someone in the line adjacent was ordering, so I waited for them to finish and said "hello" again into the order screen, again no response. I watched as the next car in the adjacent lane pulled up to order and was immediately greeted and their order was taken. I then said "hello" again, to which I was greeted with the most venomous customer service voice stating "you can order whenever you're ready". Even my young daughter was taken aback. I'd never expected to hear that type of attitude towards a customer who simply wanted to read the menu before ordering. I told the rep "no thank you, I don't think I'll be ordering anything", to which I heard the female rep/order-taker yell through the intercom "oh well, have a good day." Please find that young woman and re-train her before you lose any more customers. And check the intercom. It could've been a technological error or even user error of not speaking loud enough, but an employee's poor attitude lost Cookout a customer for life. read more

Ok, I reviewed them based on their hamburger the first time I visited this chain. In the words of Jules Winnfield, it was a "tasty burger!"...but coming from the Left/Best/West Coast, it's nothing compared to In-N-Out. That's not to say the burger was bad, it's really a great burger, but it's no double-double animal style. After taking one of those stupid "you're from North Carolina when..." quizzes on Facebook, it was brought to my attention that the hotdogs are something special here. So on a whim I stopped by and ordered two, with hushpuppies and onion rings. Holy ****, that's a great hotdog. This place was pretty good when they first opened. However a recent visit was disappointing. I ordered a hamburger with the works and it was ok but the bun was stale and the tomato only just ripe. I was charged an extra 10 cents for the tomato and 45 cents for the cheese! My side order of onion rings consisted of 4 onion rings. Also the bathroom faucets were rigged to only have cold water to wash your hands. I guess they save on the light bill that way but I've never been to a restaurant that did that.
