Not the ones with chili on them which were few and far between. Plain soggy fries like a limp noodle, teaspoon of chili. Gave 2 stars only because of milkshake. Regional fast food with a few unique twists. If it's your first time to ever eat at a CookOut, you're in luck. I'm here to help you. Keep in mind that, as of today, the Jonesborough, TN Cook Out is the shiniest and newest in the world. Since it's in "The Oldest Town in Tennessee," it's also likely the best. We just do hospitality better here, y'all. So, the menu is fairly expansive and diverse for such a small burger joint. Not to worry, just get what looks good on this trip and leave something for your return visit. Because, you'll be back like Ahhhnold. For my money, I usually get a cheeseburger tray. After that come some tough decisions. So many sides and drink options! If you want to try it REALLY Southern, get the delicious hush puppies and a Cheerwine Float. I mean this is fast food in The South. Where deep fried food is an art form. You don't come to CookOut to impress your Primary Care provider with your lab results. The burgers and sides are good. Idk about the onion rings. Yet. Cheddar Bites are on the to-do list too! I can't emphasize this enough... the milkshakes are worth the trip EVERY time! Seasonal flavors like watermelon in the summer and egg nog in December. I can personally vouch for Peach, Mint Choc, Caramel, Mocha, Toffee, Blueberry, Cappuccino, Pineapple, and Double Chocolate. And that's just a fraction of the flavor options. Pro Tip: At THIS particular Cook Out, there are 2 lanes in the drive thru. It's still early days yet, but the locals haven't figured out that the right lane is faster and has a dedicated pick up window just around the building corner from the inside lane's pickup window. It looks like there's dine in, but there isn't. Just a order window for dessert & food. We got their thick shakes. Hubs got the blueberry with whole cheesecake blended in yum. My peach cobbler had crust in it, peach flavor wasn't strong but still tasty. You can mix 2 flavors together if you want. Only one cup size. read more

I was charged $9 for two large (huge in Cook-Out parlance) cokes and an order of fries. This was absurdly high, but I was willing to shell out for the convenience. Get to the drive thru window and I'm handed regular cokes and am told that this particular Cook-Out does not sell huge cokes even though I had already been charged for them. So, I said, okay, give me four of the regular cokes since you can't pour the coke in the 32oz cup. He proceeds to ask me for another $5.85. I'm flabbergasted. I already paid you $9 for two large cokes and an order of fries and now you need MORE??? Additionally, I have eaten here many times before and like the other guy who complained about the BBQ plate being a ridiculously small portion, I can totally attest to that for at least 5-6 occasions. You get a LOT more if you are willing to drive down to campus and eat there instead! Plus, they're open a lot later! Furthermore, I was told that this place is open until 2:30 am on the weekends, but last weekend I arrived at 2:02 am and was told that from henceforth it closes at 2:00 am on the weekends, and they would not serve me. Three strikes, and you're out. You just lost a regular. Oh, and you made me mad enough to actually register for Yelp. This was one of the only places open at 9pm. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich plate which came with 2 sides and a cheeseburger. The spicy chicken sandwich had zero spice (I like spicy) and one of the sides was cheese curds. They gave 4. Seems like a waste of a side. The burger was good. I've been here a few times since it's open. Quick service and has always got my order correct. Didn't know they went to crinkle cut fries, unless they were just out of the normal ones when I went. Everything I've gotten has been right on par with the one in JC. Never really had to wait in a line and beats driving 20 minutes to JC. So far so good! read more

Extremely toxic work place. As a former employee, I've seen it all. Any time you order, your voice plays over a speaker that the whole store can hear. They WILL mock you and belittle you. I saw one woman, that poor woman who got so mad about the atrocious remarks she overheard FROM THE DRIVE THRU. I felt so embarrassed. They will undercook your quesadillas just to save a little bit of time and at the same time, serve you beef patties that have been sitting on a warm up grill for hours on a slow day. Also, they aren't required to wash their hands, in fact. They NEVER change their gloves, which I did simply because it was the right thing to do. First time and the last time I visit. The BBQ platter was a ice cream scoop sized ball of BBQ meat no bigger than a golf ball, with a squirt of BBQ sauce on top. Asked for extra bbq sauce and got extra coleslaw. Why hush puppies with BBQ and French fries? Order for hamburger was supposed to be all the way no bun or ketchup. What I got was no tomato. The ticket was not itemized with prices. So I do not even know what I paid for that I didn't get. read more
