Food was good. We had the Cook Out Style hot dogs, which were fresh and hot. The fries were ok and the hush puppies were ok, crispy but lacking in flavor. Any place that serves Cheerwine on tap get a thumbs up. Service was terrible. The employees had no customer service skills. The lobby was filthy and the bathroom was worse. And what kind of BBQ/grill joint doesn't have ketchup or sauce available in the lobby?! Two groups were served before us even though they ordered after us. It took about 25 minutes for food. Yesterday, I FINALLY went to Cook Out for the FIRST TIME!!! I DO NOT eat out often, this is WHY!! I ordered the chicken strips, fries, and a chicken quesadilla. I was EXTREMELY UNDERWHELMED‼‼ I received only a finger grab amount of fries, the quesadilla was FLAT, FLAT... it LITERALLY ONLY HAD 1 PIECE OF CHICKEN in there , barely a sprinkle of cheese, the strips were decent enough- I have never in my life seen a quesadilla FLATTER/EMPTY from a restaurant. I don't know if whoever made it was trying to be funny or what, cause what the entire he ll.. I meannn is THAT how y'all make y'all's quesadillas? I place an order for a barbecue sandwich plain with two chicken quesadillas and a huge sweet tea. Paid my money got my sweet tea and stood there for over 25 minutes waiting for my food. Other guests came in place the orders paid for it got the food I still stood there. The only took my order walked in the back disappeared came back out walk back a few minutes later never saw her again. Sister and I stopped in here to get Mom one of their milkshakes and a slice of cheesecake and I decided on their chicken nuggets for me. Sis and I were already off schedule for our visit with Mom at Regency around the corner, and good grief, can someone take my order please? Onion rings were great, I like that you can get the onions on the burgers grilled but the hamburger patties were a little meatloafy. Awesome concept. Especially with the local colleges in the area, open late and cheap. The layout of the restaurant is actually kind of small, especially if you are dining in. I saw around 10 tables ish I think. The whole experience was great and super fast paced. The restaurant is new, so it's super clean and remodeled. I'll be anxious to see how the cleaning and upkeep stays over the next few months. First, the service. Absolutely awesome, the ordering process was new to me and the cashier was extremely helpful. I ordered, fixed my sweet tea, and waited for my number to be called. As soon as my number was called a table opened up. It was like it was meant to be. There were a few employees walking around and checking on customers asking if everything was good. The Food. So in my eyes, this place is legit for a late night dinner or a hangover cure. It's also legit for a family dinner or lunch. You "should" order a combo. The combo is 4.99 (add $1 more for a milkshake instead of a drink) and you get to pick one "big item" two "side items" and the drink. So the big items, have about 20 items. The Sides include half or more of what the big items are! Yes, you could get a big double, chicken nuggets, and a chicken quesadilla for 4.99 with a drink. Baller! The Big Double Cheddar Style was awesome. Nacho cheese sauce, mayo, sautéed onions, and of course bacon. The patties were thin, but perfect. The corn dog was pretty good, I ate it last and it had gotten a little colder, but it was the perfect texture. The hushpuppies, generic but I love hushpuppies so it was perfect for me. You seriously have unlimited options here, I cannot wait to go back whether it's late night, early morning, or lunch. This place will have a special spot with me. Went through the drive through and asking for a huge tea, they said they didn't have any and I replied with, "Are you guys brewing any sweet tea?" Because I was more than willing to pull in the parking lot to wait but they snapped back with unsweet tea or a soda ma'am with extra sas. Now first thing i will say is the burgers i have gotten here were terrific. The second thing i will say is the service and management are wildly inconsistent. I have had horrible service where the drive thru forgot my drinks and refused to ring some up and told me to spend 25 minutes going back thru the drive thru again. I went to pour out a cup of water and noticed the parking lot is disgusting and full of trash and vomit... the lady at the window was so incredibly rude.. she snatched my money and tossed my food at me and then slammed the door. Cookout is a Chain from South Carolina. The home state of my favorite and illusive soda, Cheerwine. And to date, they are the only restraunt I've ever eaten at in all my years of interstate travel to serve not only Cheerwine, but Cheerwine floats. Their Burgers are average and their onions specifically I would ask to be removed because they are stringy and not very crisp. Great fries. Come here for the Cheerwine if for anything else just to experience Cheerwine. Every Cherry Soda fan needs a Cheerwine. read more

I just tried the chili dog for the first time and love the spicy, salty, sweet combination of grilled hot dog, chili and slaw. My new favorite. Located among tattoo parlors and pawn shops in North Huntsville is a new restaurant called Cook Out. I think they opened about 2 months ago and they have drawn huge crowds. Today was no different with the drive-thru lane backed up and about 10 people inside waiting to give their orders. Although the line was long they were quick to process the orders. The menu can be a little confusing, but after a couple minutes to study it the decision was very clear...order the "tray". You get to select your sandwich, two sides, and a drink... and all of this is $4.99. I ordered a double cheeseburger, a corn dog, Cajun fries, and a drink. That is a lot of food for $4.99. My number was quickly called and I sat down to eat. The burger was a little small so I am glad I ordered the double. The burger tasted like burgers you cook outside on the grill. Not sure how they induced that flavor, maybe with charcoal, but it was good. The corn dog was average and Cajun fries had plenty of Cajun seasoning. The restaurant was clean and they posted a Board of Health score of 94. The walls were lined with Alabama A&M and Oakwood college memorabilia, so they catering to the local college students. I had been to the location in Tuscaloosa about a year back and after hearing that Huntsville was getting one I immediately got excited. We went in to eat at lunch time the first week they were opened and the place was packed. We got in the line that was wrapped around the inside of the building and looked over the menu while we waited. After getting up to the counter I ordered the combo. They are countless choices to pair together but I ultimately ended up getting the Regular Burger, Cajun Fries, Onion Rings, and a large drink. All that food for only $4.99! Seriously you can't beat that anywhere around town. After ordering we waited off to the side with several other people. When they called out our number I was surprised becasue we had only been waiting for only about 5 minutes and they were packed. After looking for a table we saw that they were all occupied so we were forced to go to our car to eat. After opening up the plastic take out box the food comes in I was pleased to see the burger was a little above average in size and there was a good amount of the sides as well. The burger that I ordered came with the meat, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, and mustard. The burger tasted good but nothing to rave about. The French Fries were very crispy and the Cajun seasoning on them gave them a nice kick. The Onion Rings were certainly the highlight of the meal. The breading on the outside was cooked very well. Also on my second visit we went in for the single purpose of getting a milkshake. I got a peanut butter and fudge milkshake. It was very thick and had amazing flavor. I've always enjoyed Cookout and was delighted to see that Huntsville finally acquired one. Not a huge fan of this Cookout's location, but overall the food quality is the same as others I've visited and just as good. I love this place for the chili dogs and burgers. The dogs are grilled which adds a nice flavor and the burgers are always juicy. An interesting selection of sides tops off this special menu. Overall, I will be back when I'm in the area. Let me just say this is not my first visit to cookout and if it was I'd not come back. The girl taking orders kept asking me what I wanted like she wasn't listening. If I could have gotten out of line then I would have. I should not have to repeat myself multiple times. Finally I get my order placed. I get to the window and made my transaction and asked for Mayo and bbq sauce. We are out of packets of Mayo ok whatever and bbq is $0.38. For one cup? You can keep your bbq sauce. I get my order home and I'm so excited because I know how everything is supposed to taste. My first bite of my bacon wrap the tortilla was stale but whatever I will eat it anyway. Then I go for my chicken quesadilla no sauce. I check it before I take a bite and it had EXTRA sauce. Blech. I don't like the sauce and it left a bad taste in myself. I didn't even finish it. It was 3 of us, and only I received my meal initially. My friend had to go inquire about hers after watching everyone come in behind us get their food. Then, once we received it, she opened up her burger to see cheese on it. She had requested no cheese. And you could clearly see that cheese had been placed on it, then scraped off.
