    My $2 tomatoes

As a former native Californian I am very disappointed with this branch of Del Taco (store #1511). The first time we visited this store we tried to order a "secret menu" item and was rudely answered that this was not available at this store. We decided to eat inside today instead of going through the drive thru....big mistake! We placed our order at 11:57am and received our order at 12:38. Totally unacceptable for a "fast food" restaurant! My husband had to go to the front counter and complain after 30 minutes of waiting! The person at the register told him they're working on it now and then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes. I have NEVER had an experience like this at the numerous Del Taco restaurants that I have visited across the country. Do better, Huntsville!! I have posted pics of my "The Del" tacos that are $2 more than the tacos without tomatoes...ridiculous! In summary, I think the management needs to be revamped at this location.

Wonderful service, food portions were great, the tacos were full of meat, the ingredients were fresh....my only issue is no flavor, no salt, garlic ect...it was bland. But as far as everything else it was great...

Love the beef nachos. Chicken has become scant and a bit grisly but fries are excellent and so is the churro.

Opening week it was busy but we got our food in a timely manner. The only bad thing it needs more seating maybe some outside tables

We've been to El Vaquero twice now to play trivia. While we enjoy the clean amenities and our…read moretrivia caller, both times, we've all been incredibly unhappy with our food. The restaurant is spacious and gets loud when there's a crowd. Thankfully, there's usually a place for our larger group (6 people) to be seated comfortably. Service is very nice but slow. Trivia runs for a little over an hour and both times our food has taken about 45 minutes to come out, despite our comparatively small orders. My friend who comes to trivia does like the food here (he always gets a beef chimichanga FWIW), but everyone else has now tried several different dishes and not once been satisfied or even just not unhappy. The one shining star has been the cheese dip. It really is pretty good cheese dip, lol. The first time I ordered the chipotle chicken, which is supposed to be chicken in a chipotle sauce. I was firstly surprised and disappointed to see these were small strips of chicken rather than a chicken breast. But that would've been okay...had the chipotle sauce been decent. It had no chipotle flavor and honestly mostly just tasted like sour cream. It was very weird. My parents have tried a beef burrito, beef taco, and chicken taco. They said the beef has an unpleasant metallic taste and the shredded chicken was, according to my dad, inedible. Most recently, my husband got a carne asada burrito and said it tasted so unpleasant he was concerned about whether he should even eat it. Fortunately, no ill effects came about as a result of it; he determined it was ultimately just very low quality meat with an unpleasant texture and taste. My father in law just doesn't order anything except a beer after coming for breakfast once and having a bad time there, too. On my most recent visit, I got a side of rice and beans to eat with chips and cheese dip. The rice had been cooked into sticky, mushy lumps and had no flavor. At this point, I have no idea what to order that might even come close to satisfying my palate. It's disappointing. We may be forced back due to circumstances like our availability in order for us to play our favorite game and have time together. If so, I'll continue to try different things until I can maybe someday find something that works. I want to like this place and wish I had the experience so many other reviewers have had.

I want to love this restaurant. The staff is cheerful and the bathrooms are clean (a reliable…read moreindicator). It was full, there was a troubadour singing and we were seated quickly. The menu is astonishingly diverse, with dozens and dozens of choices! But... the fajitas arrived, warm but not sizzling. My Steak Tropical arrived and both looked amazing, generous portions and then we dug in. Alas! My steak was tough and rubbery, like chewing an old shoe. The shrimp and chicken breast were utterly without flavor. I don't mean they tasted bad, I mean they had absolutely no flavor as if they were boiled and plunked on the plate. The fajitas were the same. They looked so delicious, but completely lacked aroma and flavor. Bland. How is that even possible? Both dishes were like eating movie prop food. We were hungry and ate some, but took the remainder home. We saved the uneaten portions to make into a chili here at home. Now look, this seems like a wonderful place and has a good crowd. I am a "mild spicy" guy and my wife likes "very spicy." But both of us had the same reaction; it looked great but was just bland and had none of the rich, complex flavor for which Mexican food is famous. Go, try El Vaquero. We may give it another try on another day. But last night, as wonderful as everything seemed, as sweet as our waitress was, the food just didn't satisfy.

We specifically came for margaritas during their social hour. $3 off a set list plus seasonals. There was a table card listing seasonal drinks. I specifically asked our waitress if the Christmas margarita was considered seasonal. She assured me it was, until we got our check and she said it wasn't. I'm not arguing over $6 but $26 for two watered down drinks was not a social hour deal. It's not a deal anywhere. My husband and I shared the three different empanadas gracing the social hour menu. The chicken was delicious, the beef was ok but the fish was fishy. So much so that I didn't even get to a second bite. We ordered chips, salsa and queso for the group. The chips were great - crisp and airy. The queso was good though unremarkable, the green salsa was great. The red was a tad hot for me but everyone else at the table disagreed with me. Husband and I shared the enchiladas verdes. Three chicken enchiladas were served with a plate of nearly tasteless rice. The enchiladas were dry. Even queso didn't help. I ate half of one and my husband didn't even want my second. We didn't take home the leftover enchilada. That pretty much sums them up - not even worthy of a to-go box. With tip, our check was $90. Way too much for such a mediocre meal. We just walked in the door. Hanging up our jackets, we agreed - we won't go back.

Tried the cucumber lime fruit water and it was so dense with cucumber and lime and was very good, the lime created the perfect counter balance to the cucumber.
