It continued this way until 2011 when the rail line was shut down by federal authorities due to other bridges in the vicinity that were unsafe. Today, this drawbridge stands permanently raised and happy to see you as you pass across into Myrtle Beach (if your bridge raising lasts more than four hours...). Perhaps one day it will be fully restored and rail traffic will flow into Myrtle Beach again. Probably not. Until then, stop by and check it out.
